This is a renovated flat in a building built in 1903, set in the peaceful village of Walkerburn with a garden and hot tub that you will have use of during your stay. The rooms have 12' high ceilings and a wood burning stove in the lounge. For mountain bikers and golfers there is an Asgard secure storage shed in the garden as well as a wash down area with hose.
The house has been completely refitted and redecorated with a new kitchen which includes a washer/dryer, fridge freezer, dishwasher and microwave. There is a Nespresso machine along with a selection of good coffees to help start the morning. The main bedroom has a king size bed with a Leesa memory foam mattress and the other bedroom has a double bed with Emma mattress and an extra single bed. The heating is gas with on demand hot water and excellent pressure. The lounge has a wood burning stove with wood provided and a 50" TV with 4K streaming from Netflix and Amazon Prime. The internet is 300MB fibre optic with excellent wifi. There is a SNES mini, large selection of board games as well as cards and poker chips. The garden has an Asgard secure bike store with space for 4 bikes, golf clubs or other equipment. Also outside is a raised decking area with a sofa area, built-in pathway lighting on a timer and colourful festoons. The hot tub is big enough for 6 with bluetooth speakers and 84 jets to soothe the muscles. The tub is cleaned, refilled and chemically balanced before every stay. Towels and dressing gowns are provided.
Based in Walkerburn it's a one minute cycle to Plora and the Innerleithen mountain bike trails. The river Tweed runs in front of the house and the local area has excellent Trout and Salmon fishing. The village itself has a post office selling essentials, a cafe and a couple of pubs. It's only 20 minutes drive to Galashiels or Peebles and one hour north to Edinburgh.

  • We had a great time here. Almost don’t want to say that as we’d be worried it would be booked up next time we come up! Had everything we needed. Really comfy beds, can’t fault anything.

  • We had a lovely weekend, the flat had everything we needed and more. The hot tub and all of the other amenities were great and the place was immaculate! Location was great for a quiet get away with the option to go for dinner and drinks 2 mins away in Innverleithen, the Taquair Arms Hotel does lovely food for anyone looking for a meal out! We’re already planning another trip in Summer 😊

  • Hot tub, log burning fire, lovely flat to stay in. Enjoyed our weekend immensely. The Nespresso coffee pods were a great bonus.

  • James has put together a really wonderful space. It was the perfect environment to relax, whether indoors or out. It's well kept to an excellent standard, and James certainly goes the extra mile in providing additional amenities or answering questions when needed. Couldn't recommend it highly enough - we'll certainly be back!

  • We loved our stay in Walkerburn for my friends 30th birthday celebrations. Place was lovely, had everything you need. The hot tub and log burner were amazing and added to the weekend and a lovely enjoyable stay here. Thanks again.

    Jill2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Just got back from a stay at James’s place after a few days, ideal place to relax, days spent walking, lovely walking routes nearby and perfect to end the day in the hot tub before sitting in front of the cosy fire in the living area. Stylish flat with all the amenities you could need for your stay. James is also just a phone call away should you need anything which again is ideal.

The Mill, formerly the sawmill for Borthwick Hall, is a charming property built in the 1800s. The conversion of the building was completed in 2003 and is now a wonderful family home. My husband, Steve, and I moved up to Scotland from London in December 2017 and absolutely love it up here. With lovely people and beautiful open spaces, it’s the perfect place for us to relax and raise our kids. We love having friends and family visit and look forward to offering our space to guests as well.
The rooms we have for guests to stay make up a private suite situated above our garage with an external stairway for private access. There is a double room with a tv, sofa and wardrobe. All bed linen is provided with extra pillows if you need them. The spacious bathroom had a large bath and separate shower along with his and her sinks. There is a sitting room with sofa, table and chairs as well as kitchen facilities including cooker, microwave and fridge. We also offer a continental breakfast of cereals and homemade bread. Our house is supplied by private spring water so feel free to fill our water bottles for your days out. We are happy to accommodate babies and toddlers and we have a travel cot if needed. Please let us know if you have older children and would like to stay as we may be able to arrange a mattress or bed for them. There are some lovely places to walk nearby and we’d be happy to point them out to you.
  • Such a lovely location, larger than expected. Some lovely personal touches that made the stay that bit more special. Lovely host.

  • Spacious and beautifully furnished apartment in a peaceful rural location. We had a very comfortable and relaxing one night stopover on our journey from Northumberland back up to our home in Argyll. The apartment has everything you need, a real home from home, and breakfast is provided with a delicious fresh loaf of bread plus cereals, tea/coffee, milk, jams and marmalade. We wish we could have stayed longer to explore the area. Edinburgh is easily accessible as well as Peebles, Innerleithen, and Melrose. Highly recommended and very good value for money and you will get a lovely warm welcome from Natasha when you arrive.

    Sara And Sean2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • This, in our view, is a delightful find ~ for its beautifully seclusion; the high standard of accommodation; the amount of space and in so many other ways. Natasha is a fine host who adds a number of her own touches on which other past guests have commented ~ such as a freshly baked loaf of bread. She and her family even invited us to join them for a Rugby World Cup match - and, in our hour of need (don't ask - car troubles), provided us with a much appreciated lift to the nearest garage some miles away. All in all, a terrific base in the gorgeous Scottish Borderlands.

    Bob2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • 2nd time staying at Natasha's place. Can't recommend it enough. We'll be back!

    Matt2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • A gem in the outskirts of Edinburgh. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

    Maria2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Our first Airbnb experience and what a delight! The annex was beautifully furnished and sparkling clean, everything we needed for a couple of nights away. It is a 15 minute drive to Gorebridge station where parking is free and a 25 minute train ride to Edinburgh. Natasha communicated with us well prior to our arrival and made us feel very welcome with the lovely touches in the flat and the amazing bread! We will definitely be back!

    Ellie2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • An excellent B&B in a lovely country location whilst still being close enough to do day-trips to Edinburgh if required. The accommodation consists of a large kitchen diner, a roomy well appointed bathroom and a spacious bedroom with a large double bed plus sofa & TV, all situated above the garage at first floor level with individual access via an external flight of stairs.

    John & Jill2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Tasha's annex is like walking right into a page from Home Beautiful magazine; without sounding like an estate agent... this home is exquisitely fitted and furnished and you feel like precious family guests in the welcome Tasha gives from the subtle scents round the rooms to the fresh baked bread wafting from the kitchen; everything is perfect. The bookshelves are fascinating, the kitchen well equipped with lovely touches for a cook, like a variety of chopping boards and sharp knives! Reviews say sparkling clean - an understatement- you could eat from the floor - everything was immaculate. Sadly our stay was a whistle stop so we did not explore the area. My tip for this property would be that no matter how weary you arrive take time to indulge in the sumptuous bath, there is ample hot water and room to swing several cats. Needless to say this property has our stamp of approval.

My home is a 2 bedroom ground floor flat on a quiet residential street in Gorebridge, a town with great train and bus links to Edinburgh and the Borders. The double room is at the back of the property with views to my large private garden, which you are also welcome to use. The bedroom is adjascent to the shared bathroom. There is a keysafe entry system for easy access throughout the day.
I'm on a quiet residential street with on street parking. My home is calm and relaxed.
There are several historical sites within a 10 mile radius of Gorebridge, including Newbattle Abbey, Borthwick Castle, Crichton Castle, Arniston House and the country parks at Vogrie and Dalkeith. I have a wide knowledge of walks in the area and would happily take guests for a hike if requested!
  • Beautiful place... Cozy, comfortable, easy access ...she is lovely Was perfect

  • From start to finish our stay was so stress free. Ann was very quick with responding to messages. Couldn’t ask for a better host Ann was at the property when we arrived with a warm welcome. Lots of parking available outside the property on the local street. Room was lovely with kettle and brew making facilities, spotlessly clean room with fresh towels. We were going to go to the local pub for food but ended up with a takeaway and Ann kindly let us use the kitchen facilities. Lovely little touch in the morning was the breakfast, cereal, yogurt, fruit and toast with jam and coffee and tea. The house is close to the train station so perfect location if you wanted to get the train (25min journey) into Edinburgh. Excellent value for money and will defiantly be returning as very relaxed and enjoyed the stay.

  • Lovely room and location within a short train ride to Edinburgh. Ann was very helpful and friendly making our stay very comfortable. Even provided a lovely breakfast. Thanks and would stay again

    Jack2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Ann is a delightful host: welcoming, friendly, kind and very helpful. His house is very clean and very neat, and the environment is nice and well cared for. The abundant and varied breakfast is another plus point! I highly recommend it, even if it takes a while to get to Edinburgh, there are many coaches and the stop is very close to home: my son and I had a great time with her, she even advised us on the places to visit! If I were to return to Edinburgh, I would have no doubts about where to stay!

    Monica2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • A fabulous place to stay. Ann is a wonderful host being friendly, informative and helpful. We even went for a beautiful walk nearby. Her house is so comfortable, quiet, immaculately clean and the breakfast provided just added to the excellent value for money. I would happily stay here again and would highly recommend booking.

    Helen2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Ann is very attentive, she has prepared a small itinerary according to our desires and an excellent breakfast nicely prepared! Her house is very charming, the bed is super comfortable, we have an excellent memory of our first night in Scotland. We would have stayed an extra night !!

    Alli&JM2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Ann is a great host and makes you feel like at home. The house is located in a quite place and the bedroom is nice and cozy with a comfortable bed. You will definitely not find a better place.

    Ismael2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Ann's place was a delight to stay at, even only for one night. She was helpful every step of the way and made sure we had a good stay. If you need somewhere to enjoy the peace of a small town, we can't recommend Ann's house more. We hope for the chance to visit again.

Self- contained 1-bed flat in the heart of rural East Lothian. The flat is part of our family home, but has its own front door. Kitchen with hob, oven, dishwasher. Bedroom with double bed and plenty of cupboard space. En-suite bathroom with walk in shower. Living room with vaulted ceiling and patio doors onto small decking area leading to rear garden. Also access to sitting area in front garden. The flat has some adaptations suitable for the disabled.
The flat is a recently built extension to our 19th century farm cottage - appropriately enough, surrounded by farmland. We have a couple of cats who roam the garden and will probably join you if you leave a door open!
Our house is in the small hamlet of Glenkinchie, in the heart of East Lothian farming country. We are just a few yards up the hill from the Glenkinchie Distillery, East Lothian’s premier tourist attraction. We’re a few miles away from glorious beaches, golf courses galore, (including Muirfield and Gullane) and charming market towns. Head south and you can be up in the Lammermuir hills in 20 minutes or so. We’ve lived here for over 20 years and both work in Edinburgh, so can help out with local information, walks, restaurants, and so on.
  • My fiancé and I with our dog enjoyed a very peaceful couple of nights away in the countryside. Nick was lovely all round to deal with from messages to check in. Spotlessly clean, cosy and great kitchen. Thanks again for a fab stay

    Amelia2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • The space was lovely and much bigger than expected from the pictures. It was in a great location to get into Edinburgh and the welcome from Nick was very warm. Perfect for a short break. Thanks Nick & Janet

  • A modern, spacious and clean one bedroom annexe with separate kitchen, living room and large ensuite bathroom, with all the little things thought of and catered for. Myself and my partner stay for two weeks whilst house hunting with our two dogs and were really happy with the accommodation. Positioned in a quiet little village with very close links to Edinburgh, North Berwick and the Borders. Would definitely recommend to others and would happily stay again.

    Nathan2019-12-27T00:00:00Z

  • The accommodation is ideal, it does not lack detail. We have felt at home. All very clean and nice. 100% recommended. We arrived at 8:00 p.m. and we were welcomed with the warm, bright and super nice house! We will repeat without a doubt !!! The decoration of the house is more modern and modern than what is seen in the photos. Everything more than great!

My place is close to public transport. You’ll love the cottage because of the outdoors space and the ambiance. The cottage is ideal for couples. The Scottish tourist board rate our cottage as four star standard. You are in the heart of the country but only 40 minutes from Edinburgh and most of the Scottish borders towns. Rolling hills, lots of walking, interesting places to see historical, cultural and modern.
The cottage is warm and comfortable with views of the rolling borders countryside and direct access to the hills around. Recently renovated to a high standard this is a listed 18th century cottage next door to our house which used to an inn with a Robert Burns connection. The cottage has a garden with a decked area and barbeque and its own parking space. The living space has a log burner as well as central heating. The kitchen is fully fitted with Fridge freezer, cooker, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher. The bedroom has a Superking sized bed but can be set up as two singles on request. No9 is ideally suited to sightsee in the Scottish Borders but is also very convenient for Edinburgh with very easy access.
The Scottish borders gives access to many large country houses, ruined abbeys and castles. Fishing, golf, walking and mountain biking are all available locally. There is beautiful countryside all around and yet you are only 40 minutes from Edinburgh by train or car. Edinburgh is a very vibrant city full of interest.
  • Great cottage that's perfect for couple or a small family. We took our baby daughter. The house was clean and has all the amenities that you would need. It's near small village Stow, that we didnt visit but we visited nearby Lauder and Galashiels town. We easily found some great pubs for lunches in both places. Lots great walks and historic buildings nearby. John was quick to respond and check in/out was a breeze. The small touches around the house were appreciated.

    Imran2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a cosy and lovely cottage perfect for couples or lone travellers. It’s easier to get around if you have a car but not impossible by public transport or even walking if you’re fit enough.

    Nigar2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the cottage, which is immaculately turned out and comfortable. The owners, John and Allwin, were incredibly welcoming and friendly and offered good advice about the area. They were waiting for us with the keys as we arrived and allowed us flexibility with our checkout. Moreover their communication was exceptional in the lead-up to the trip. The cottage itself is perfect for a couple, small but with all your needs catered for. There were lovely little additional touches - coffee and tea, shortbread, and milk all arranged ready for our arrival. If you're over six feet tall (as I am) you may find some parts of the cottage a little uncomfortable - particularly the shower, which you won't be able to stand up in, and the eaves of the roof in the bedroom can be a head-bang risk (which I did on more than one occasion). The open fire is gorgeous, though, and wood is readily accessible just outside the back door. The proximity of the road to the cottage makes for a slightly less-than-peaceful stay, as cars whizz past at 60mph, though we did stop noticing by the end of our stay. The road isn't safe to walk down, though it looks like there may be paths down to the village accessible by the back of the garden - we didn't investigate. The setting is stunningly picturesque, and the back garden being on a slope allows for lovely views when sat out in the evening.

  • We really enjoyed this little cottage. It was clean and very comfortable, It was close to many things I needed and was close to some great walking trails. John was very friendly and quick to respond

    Shelley2019-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • John was a great host and his cottage was great.

    Matthew2019-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a gem of a cottage! It's location is perfect to explore both the wonderful city of Edinburgh (get the train from Stow, saves having to park!) and also the beautiful surrounding country side. John is a fantastic host! He was always swift to answer my questions before the stay and always had sound advice. He was very welcoming on our arrival and kindly showed us round the cottage. The cottage itself is the perfect cosy get away for a couple. The space was clean and very well designed with everything you'd need in the kitchen and living areas. We absolutely loved it and would definitely go back, thank you again John and Allwin

    James2019-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at your cottage. Very welcoming and everything that you would need for a relaxing break, we enjoyed sitting by the cosy log burner even though the cottage was warm it created a lovely atmosphere. And the most comfortable bed we have slept in too! We found the folders full of local interest and days out very helpful. Well recommended Thanks John and Allwen

    Hilary2018-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful little cottage in the borders. Even though it is on the main road (making it super easy to find), the traffic didn't annoy us at all, and it still felt really peaceful and was a lovely place to switch off for the weekend. John was away for a couple of days when we arrived, so Allwin met us to check us in. She was incredibly kind and stayed up for our late arrival! The cottage itself is really wonderfully kitted out - a dishwasher makes so much difference to relaxation, and the bed (a ziplink king I think) was so incredibly comfortable! Great kitchen - small but perfectly formed - and lovely touches like a pint of milk in the fridge when we arrived, and a packet of shortbread on the tea tray. The Scottish weather put pay to our BBQ plans but the garden is also beautiful and there's a gate at the top straight onto the hills for keen walkers. Highly recommended!

An ideal spot for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families and furry friends. The cottage is situated in acres of stunning countryside with a stream running through the garden. It is equipped with a super king sized bed and extra sofa bed. Come and enjoy the countryside with the wildlife on your doorstep as well as the huge range of activities available nearby. Relax and unwind in front of the open fire. For the sightseers its only a 30 minute drive into the centre of Edinburgh!
An easy spot to unwind but also a great base for walking, golfing, cycling, sightseeing in Edinburgh and the Borders, fishing and is close to the East Lothian beaches. The property is part of an old small holding farm which kept sheep up until recently. The cottage is next door to the main Keith Bridge House, a small 2 bedroom property where the tenants Jemima and Tim live and will welcome you and be available to help if there is anything that you need. Both properties date back to the 1850s with the cottage undergoing a recent renovation. Well known ornithologist George Waterston lived here for a number of years documenting the abundance of bird life found around the property. The stream has fish running through with herons, geese and ducks often patrolling up and down. Otters have been spotted but that is only if you are very lucky! We are pet friendly and have a large garden for dogs to safely run around in.
The small village of Humbie is just over a mile up the road. There is a lovely cafe and general store called ‘The Humbie Hub’. The stunning Humbie church is just a short walk from the house as well as a busy Humbie village hall that often has events on in the village including film nights and coffee mornings. Just up the road the ‘Juniperlee’ is a well renowned eatery with good food. The quaint village of Gifford is around a 15 minute drive away where you can find two good pubs, the Goblin Ha and the Tyneside Tavern. For the golfers there is also the Gifford and Castle Park golf courses nearby as well as the many well renowned East Lothian courses. There are some lovely cycle routes around the quieter back roads of East Lothian that are easily accessed from the cottage. Closer to home enjoy lovely country walks around the Keith Marishal loop and Humbie Woods as well as plenty more. For the more adventurous the Lammermuir Hills are very close by to get some hill walks in! For the whisky lovers the well known Glenkinchie Whisky Distillery is only a five minute drive away or a 45 minute leisurely country walk...

  • 4th visit to this little gem of a cottage. It is so peaceful . You feel yourself relax as soon as you arrive. So many places to visit in your doorstep. Matt is the perfect host. We will be back soon that's for sure.

  • Amazing little place, we have stayed in a lot of Airbnb's and this has been our favourite.

    Sam2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Matt's place is comfortable and clean and cosy. We stayed in February and were toasty and warm despite the snow outside. It's a lovely place, very well presented and full of character. We loved it.

    Sue2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Charming, cozy, and perfectly located. The cottage is perfect for a quick weekend holiday or an extended stay - this was our 3rd visit and we can’t wait to come back!

    Brent2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • A little gem away from it all. We stayed when the storm arrived. Had snow but was wonderfully cozy in front of a real fire with a glass of wine watching all the birds. Everything you could need in the cottage. Will be back later in the year.

    Jennifer2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Matt's property at Keith Bridge is a hidden gem. Feeling completely secluded but actually very close to local towns and amenities, the location is excellent and the cottage and grounds are beautiful. Matt has restored and maintained the property brilliantly and it has everything you need for a few days or weeks. Matt's welcome pack is so helpful and the thoughtful little touches are lovely - we'd love to come back when the weather is warmer!

  • This is the perfect place for two to unwind and enjoy quiet, peaceful surrounds. We didn’t walk much on this occasion as we just needed to chill and enjoy the views but we will be back for a longer stay so we can explore all the area has to offer. Terry provides plenty of local knowledge about walks etc with an extensive file of local places to visit. The accommodation has all essentials, comfortable bed, fluffy towels, tea, coffee etc.

Terry and Aimee were very accommodating and had some great tips for the area - their place is great value and I hope to be back!

  • We had the most amazing stay at Terry and Aimee's place. The apartment had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and much more. Lot's of thoughtful touches! The hosts were friendly and welcoming and provided great advice on things to do during our short stay. Ideally located with the most beautiful views over the river and the surrounding hills. Lot's of amazing walks nearby and walking distance to restaurants, pubs and cafes so we didn't need to use the car at all. It was my first time in the borders and we've definitely fallen in love with the area and look forward to exploring more. We'll definitely be booking again soon :)

  • Lovely stay in a great wee studio right on the banks of the Tweed. Really handy for walks, Terry & Aimee provided info on these too & recommend walking in glen estate! Path along the river just outside front door & amazing views from the studio & garden. Hosts are really chilled & helpful!

Borthwick Castle View is set in a historical picturesque valley 16 miles south of central Edinburgh. The luxury accommodation with private entrance features a bedroom at mezzanine level, fully equipped kitchen, shower room, log burning fire and stunning views across the valley to Borthwick Castle. It is the perfect place for a rural escape or staycation, still within easy reach of Edinburgh & less than 30 miles to many Scottish border towns & coasts; with both train & bus services available.
You have exclusive use of the annex for your stay with your own private entrance. Walk in through the patio doors into a double height spacious lounge where you can relax in front of a traditional wood burning fire. You also have your own private kitchen and shower room. The double bed is located on the mezzanine level. We always take care to clean to a high standard including cleaning frequently touched surfaces between reservations. 1 car parking space is available. Wood for the fire is provided.
Borthwick is a small hamlet in the picturesque valley overlooked by the 15th Century Borthwick Castle, with the mark of Cromwell's cannonballs etched into the wall from the failed 1650 siege. The castle was visited by Mary Queen of Scots in 1563 and 1567 and more recently used for filming the film Outlaw King. There is lots of nature in Borthwick valley, such as owls, deer, geese, herons and other animals. Walkers and cyclists are spoilt for choice withthe option of a woodland walk through Currie Woods to nearby Crichton Castle, Vogrie Country Park and the Innerleithen cycle route all being closeby. The wider area has distilleries, a mining museum, horse riding, golf courses and Arniston House. Nearby, East Lothian has a range of spectacular beaches. Edinburgh city centre is 16 miles away where you can enjoy a huge range of cultural, historic and architectural attractions or hit the shops for some retail therapy, cinemas, museums or the Arts Festival and Festival Fringe in the summer. Closer by is Gorebridge, a nearby village which has a selection of shops, takeaways and services. There is also a 24 hour Tesco Superstore and petrol station less than 7 miles away.
  • A gorgeous place to stay in a really quiet area - from making sure the log fire was already lit to the spotlessly clean and well equipped house, we would recommend a stay to anyone wanting to spend a few days and nights just chilling out after a great walk - we hope to return

    John2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely gorgeous little hideaway, plenty to do within a short distance or the perfect place to just escape from the world for a while! Brilliant hosts too- thanks so much!

    Laura2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A tranquil spot for a relaxing getaway. The cottage is beautifully appointed and the hospitality generous and thoughtful. Thoroughly recommended!

    Cathy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We couldn’t have asked for better hosts, or a better Airbnb. Emmie and Ryan were so welcoming, and the property is stunning. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome, from lighting the fire ready for our arrival, and offering to show us around the area. We’ll definitely be back soon!

    James2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning place.

    David2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Emmie and Ryan were fantastic hosts! Thank you for all you did for us, especially setting the fire for when we arrived after a long journey. The cottage is a perfect place to explore the local area and Edinburgh by train. The pictures do not do it justice and the cottage contains everything you could ever want and need. Hope to be back one day, couldn’t recommend enough! :)

    Rachel2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Emmie and Ryan's AirBnB over a weekend whilst attending a wedding at the castle. They couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. Ryan very kindly drove me to and from Gorebridge station and to and from the castle. The place is delightful and ideal if you want a bit of peace and quiet and amazing scenery.

    Camini2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely lovely stay here, Emmie and Ryan were so helpful from our arrival and couldn't do enough for us (offering a lift from the train station, allowing a late checkout, giving tips on what to do with our day!). The cottage itself is beautiful and has everything you'd need, with a lovely view of the surrounding fields with lots of lovely sheep in them :) The log burner was such a nice touch, it made our stay feel very cosy. We were going to drive up to Edinburgh but decided to get the train as the station is a few minutes drive away. The cottage is in a perfect location to escape the noisy city, it's in a very peaceful area but is close enough to Edinburgh to be able to drive/get the train up there. Overall we would definitely recommend staying here as we had a lovely time, Emmie and Ryan are wonderful hosts.

The Coach House is located a short distance from the idyllic East Lothian village of Humbie, nestled in the foothills of the Lammermuir Hills yet only 18 miles from the centre of Edinburgh. Situated on a small working sheep farm it is both a tranquil and accessible location which is also near to the Scottish Borders and the seaside coast and golf courses of East Lothian. It is ideal for a touring, golfing, fishing, walking or general sightseeing holiday.
The accommodation comprises a fully fitted kitchen with breakfast bar and dining area, bathroom and utility room on the ground floor where there is ample storage and drying areas. The first floor has 2 bedrooms and living room served by relatively steep stairs with handrail. The main bedroom has an ensuite W.C and basin. There are seating areas around the cottage for relaxation outside. We do welcome guests with dogs but understandably only if well controlled as it is a working sheep farm.
Only a short walk from The Coach House is Humbie village where guests can make use of the Humbie Hub for lunch and refreshments, shopping essentials and Post Office facilties.
  • Beautiful location and a clean and warm home. It is really worth traveling a few kilometers from the center of Edinburgh to enjoy the countryside, apart from the whole house is beautiful and the hosts are unbeatable. Do not think about it, you will spend a few days in the real Scotland

    Javier2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • We are a family of 5 escaping our house whilst a new kitchen was being fitted. Kirsty is a fantastic host and very friendly. The cottage was great, very clean and we has a great time staying there.

    Malcolm2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Really helpful host, great kitchen with all the basic utensils for cooking meals , milk in the fridge a nice touch, the sofa bed was comfortable, set in the grounds of a beautiful farm, great base for exploring surrounding area, about 45 mins drive to Edinburgh.

    Hannah2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Our family enjoyed a very lovely stay at the Coach House. An excellent base for exploring in and around Edinburgh, while offering the chance to enjoy the lovely countryside and escape the busy city. The property is lovely and clean and has everything you need to self cater, and plenty of space to relax. I would recommend Kirstys place to anyone looking for somewhere peaceful to relax while wanting access to what the city has to offer. We packed in The National Museum of Flight, The National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh Zoo, Dalkeith Country Park and a fabulous meal at the nearby Juniperlea restaurant which Kirsty recommended. Thanks for a fab stay. X

  • Very friendly hosts, charming accommodation. Would definitely recommend it!

    Edward2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, cute cottage in a serene setting. We stayed during a somewhat dreary time of year for Scotland, but the cottage was clean and pleasant, and Kirsty was very warm and welcoming. We didn't get the chance to explore the farm because of the rain, but would definitely recommend the location for a splendid getaway. We took the train from Gorbridge into Edinburgh and it was easy and inexpensive. Would totally recommend!

    Anita2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at The Coach House as we were visiting places around that area. It is a very quiet and idyllic location but not far away from Edinburgh. The cottage is planned very thoughtfully with all amenities, and is surrounded by a wonderful sheep farm. Kirsty and Tim are amazing hosts and they live just a few yards from the cottage. They would help you with all the local information and the best way to visit Edinburgh or the area around Humbie. It was very thoughtful of Kirsty to leave a bottle of milk in the fridge when we arrived so that we could have some tea after a tiring drive. Will definitely recommend this place to anyone who would want to stay in a beautiful cottage in a lovely countryside.

    Rashmi2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location just outside Edinburgh. This is a comfortable, spacious and well-appointed house. Kirsty was friendly and helpful before we came and during our stay. This is a lovely place to stay if you are visiting that part of the world.

  • Elliott was a great host and the house was exactly what he describes on the listing. So, if you read the description carefully and it sounds fine to you, you will enjoy your stay. One thing to note is that it takes 40 to 60 minutes from the house to the city centre, so be prepared for bus rides if you have business in the city centre. Otherwise, it was a cozy house to stay, and despite some downsides such as slow running water—specified in the description—Elliott's house is a great place to stay with a welcoming host.

    Jinhyun2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • It was an amazing stay! Elliott is concerned to make everything as comfortable as possible in the smallest details, there was even a jar with water in the room, cables for charging, notes with some directions to help us and plus breakfast. The place is sparkling clean and the room was really cozy, buses just around the corner. I really appreciate all the kindness. The best place and highly recommended! :)

The Little House on the Hill is a bijou part of this gorgeous stone-built house on a farm. It is the right hand wing of the house in the picture. A perfect place for chilling out, being outdoors, accessing Edinburgh, and moseying around Border towns. Cosy & modern, lovely open plan kitchen & lounge. The larger house next door is also available.
Little House on the Hill is available for 2-4 guests on a self catering basis. The cottage forms part of Hillhouse farm in the Scottish Borders which is also home to a few thousand sheep. The Sutherland family have farmed here for over 80 years across 3 generations. It's a fantastic place - sitting high on the hills overlooking Lauderdale it really does have tremendous views. The Little House on the Hill is an old shepherd's house but it's been refurbished recently so now you'll find it to be modern & cosy. It has a lovely open plan kitchen / living room, two good sized bedrooms and a small shower room. The house next door, the House on the Hill, is also available - it has virtually the same facilities as the Little House on the Hill but is much larger with an extra bathroom and separate kitchen and lounge. There are interconnecting doors between the two houses which we unlock if both properties are being rented by one party. The House on the Hill can, of course, also be rented completely separately.
Staying on a working sheep farm in the Lauderdale area is a 'best of all worlds' location: it's the perfect place for chilling out, being outdoors, accessing Edinburgh (including the Festival), and moseying around historic Border towns. There is so much to do, you just have to work out how much you want to pack in!
  • Perfect country retreat, couldn’t be cosier! Check in was so easy and a perfect location to visit the beautiful Borders!

My house is a traditional 2 bed cottage in the centre of Lauder. Close to the rail link to Edinburgh and on the A68, 26 miles south of Edinburgh. The spacious, comfortable bedroom has a kingsize bed. All eateries and pubs are short walking distance.
I offer my guests a comfortable relaxed place to stay. I'm happy for guests to use the kitchen to cook meals and hang out and watch TV in the sitting room if they want to.
Lauder is a small quiet town in the Scottish Borders. There are good local places to eat and small independent shops to browse in.
  • Elaine and her husband, both made me feel at home. They are both very open and friendly people. Elaine, loves the whole concept of Air B and B, of sharing her home and meeting new people. The room was very spacious, and the bed very comfortable with ample number of pillows. I visited in the autumn and the room was well heated. I felt very welcome and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

    Peter2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • It was amazing accommodation with the most hospitable owners. If you have spare days it's the best place to spend and have a stop from Edinburgh and visit such places as Abbotsford house of Walter Scott, Melrose Abbey, Thirlestane Castle, and Leaderfoot Viaduct. Moreover, I have attracted to this tiny and cozy town where you can enjoy the authentic local atmosphere and grab delicious dinner and beer in a local pub. Finally, I want to say that I am extremely grateful that had a chance to be a guest of such nice people.

  • A traditional stone terrace house. The bedroom is big and comfortable with tea, coffee and a sink. Very quiet, no traffic noise. The use of the kitchen was great, and being able to sit and chill while I ate in the sitting room.

  • Excellent AirBnb experience! I was supposed to stay for a month and ended up extending my booking to two months. It's a really nice and new flat, where you get your own private bedroom and bathroom. You will be sharing the living room and kitchen with the friendly couple that hosts you: Jamie and Justyna. There is a bus stop literally in front of the flat's entrance that will take to Edinburgh city centre every 20-30 minutes. The ride will take around 40 minutes and cost 1.70 pounds the single ticket. Everything you see in the pictures is what you'll get since they show the actual state of the house which is new. Thanks for everything!

    Guido2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Jamie and Justyna's was lovely. They have a comfortable, tidy and clean home. Conveniently located next to a bus stop that brings you straight into Edinburgh city. I felt very welcome and comfortable from the first night! Would highly recommend!!

Built in 2002 my home is modern yet comfortable and homely. I am offering a private bedroom with large double bed and private bathroom. If required I also have a single small bedroom available in addition which if required at the same time as the double bedroom, would be £25 inc of breakfast. The Cottage is on the outskirts of Lauder which offers a variety of shops, cafes, eateries and pubs.
The Cottage is on the outskirts of Lauder about ten minutes walk to the centre so there is little noise or light pollution. I share my home with a rescued Jack Russell who is very friendly. There are wonderful walks nearby around Thirlestane Castle (my neighbours) and the Southern Upland Way goes through Lauder. The Border towns of Melrose, Kelso and Jedburgh for example offer ruined abbeys, castles and historic sites amongst wonderful countryside.
About a quarter of a mile from Lauder town centre surrounded by farmland so it is situated ideally for a relaxing stay yet with easy access to Border towns.
  • Sensational accommodation, great location. Mary is a wonderfully helpful and thoughtful host. Her home is fabulous. Little Mouse is a delight too. Great location to explore the delightful Borders.

  • I would not hesitate to recommend booking Mary's place. You'll find a warm welcome from Mary and Mouse (her wee friendly dog) in her beautiful, spotlessly clean and comfortable home. It's a great base for a short stay or a base for a longer exploration of the Borders as it's so well located. Mary has a great sense of humour, is very obliging and a great cook! I thoroughly enjoyed staying in Mary's home. If I was in the area again I'd definitely book again.

    Brian2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • You will receive a warm welcome from Mary, ( and from Mouse, Mary's lovely Jack Russell ). Mary provides a very comfortable room in her beautiful home. It was a real pleasure to meet Mary and be her house guests.

  • Tidy , nice cottage close to town center , walks and attractions , very kind owner !

    Maarten2018-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Mary will not disappoint you, her home is very homely. Breakfast is outstanding, Mouse the dog is an amazing little chappie. Could not fault staying with her.

    Teresa2018-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • An accommodation that deserves more than 5 stars! Mary is a very communicative, kind and generous guest. Timely and perfect communication. Definitely one of the best accommodations in all of Scotland at a very affordable price. It is less than an hour from Edinburgh Airport and is ideally located for visiting the Borders area, in the south of Scotland, a very beautiful and relaxing area famous for its abbeys and castles. The room and the adjacent bathroom are tastefully furnished and brand new. Breakfast very abundant in the beautiful living room. I highly recommend everyone to go and I hope to come back to you

    Gloria2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Mary is a welcoming host with an interesting and entertaining back story – an irrepressible adventurer and sportsperson who’s packed many lifetimes experiences into one. She has a keen eye for detail and presents a beautiful and spotlessly clean home. She has an interest in modern art which is displayed throughout the house. Everything is of the best quality. Little things like a suitcase stand mean that there’s no need to put cases on the bed - which was so comfortable I was rocked to sleep in no time. Mouse adds to the welcome and is more than happy to be fussed over. Excellent home cooking. I fully expect Mary to be awarded Superhost status. Thank you for a great stay.

This cosy farm cottage comfortably sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms each with ensuite facilities. Carrick cottage is the upper level of a converted farm building. A log burning stove, (logs provided) will warm up your comfy sitting room quickly, after a busy day in the beautiful city of Edinburgh just 10kms to the north. We are surrounded by woodland walks on country tracks, with very little traffic so ideal for children, horses and dogs.
Our farm cottage is fully equipped for the perfect town and country holiday, just 30 minutes drive south of Edinburgh city centre, situated on our working farm. We are surrounded by gentle countryside, ancient Sequoia trees and paddocks where horses graze and roe deer roam. The cottage has 2 bedrooms comprising one kingsize double room and one twin bedded room, both with ensuite facilities. You can park right at the door and there is a ramp for disabled access. There is a patio area with table and chairs off the conservatory, which in turn is off the lounge. All linen, towels, oil for central heating and logs for log-burning Squirrel stove are included. It is preferable that you have a car, as we are a 10 minute walk on farm roads (with no street lights) to the village and nearest bus to Edinburgh. Having said that, the bus service is good and regular, so not essential to have a car. We also have a local, friendly taxi driver in the village. Eskbank station is a15 minute drive away where you catch regular trains (taking 18 minutes) into Waverley station. The Farm just a 5 minute walk from the cottages is a working farm, so you can see sheep, cattle and plenty of horses, as we have a livery yard. We can also offer horse B&B! There are some excellant pubs and restaurants all within 10 minutes drive of the farm and of course the famous Rosslyn Chapel of Da Vinci Code fame is just across Roslin glen, a lovely 40 minute walk or 10 minute drive. Whitehill Golf Course is a pretty 9 hole course just outside your cottage. Two more challenging 18 holes courses are less than 10 minutes drive away. St Andrews is an easy 1hour 40mins drive so treat yourself to a game there! The many fine historic castles and houses of the borders are an easy drive, as is the road north to the Highlands and islands. The Pentland Hills for great walks and wildlife are on our doorstep. We love living here and really enjoy sharing our part of bonnie Scotland
The first tee of Whitehill Golf course is on your doorstep. Lovely walks through deciduous woodland beside the river Esk from your door.
  • This is a really lovely cottage. It's in the countryside but close enough to Edinburgh for city centre activities. The cottage is very well equipped with all you need, the kitchen is functional and works well. It is a cosy, warm space with plenty of room for a family of four. We also really enjoyed Margot's gift of ginger cake so thank you! HIghly recommend this cottage for couples and families.

  • This place is as described cosy and peaceful. 30 mins drive from central Edinburgh so combines a city break with a country retreat. Absolutely no complaints.

    David2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place ideally suited to taking the train / or P+R into Edinburgh. Access to Borders and Coast within a short drive. Rosslyn Chapel only a few miles and well worth the visit.

  • Spacious well equipped and great location

    Amanda2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Carrick is a lovely spacious cottage to relax and unwind for a few days with easy scenic walks - spot the squirrels... lots of things to do in the area.....and even enjoyed a swing in the tree swing ... Margot our host was lovely ... highly recommend

    Michelle2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is a delightful house with a lovely warm, comforting feel to it - my kids wished they could stay longer. The conservatory is beautiful and would be great to sit in during the summer. The kitchen is very well equipped and the wifi is good. The host, Margot, is lovely. It is a beautiful area, and it was really nice to walk round the local woods and golf course. Watch out for the unpaved road leading up to the cottage, though - it was full of potholes when we visited, and might be difficult for a small car to navigate.

    Katherine2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend!! Cottage and location are superb! Margot is a lovely host, very kind and helpful! Will definitely return!

Situated just 9 miles from Edinburgh and with lovely views of the Pentland Hills from the garden, this welcoming Bothy is the perfect base for a relaxing break away. The property is very well furnished and decorated. The area is superb for walking with many waymarked routes around and many options to choose in the Pentland Hills Regional Park. There are frequent buses from Straiton Park & Ride into Edinburgh, making it simple to relax and enjoy the city.
We have a biomass boiler which means that the house will be warm all the time. This is great especially in the winter! If you have extra guests to stay, we also have a sofa bed in the kitchenette/living room.
Peebles, 13 miles, is ideal for a browse, with galleries, craft and gift shops, and a good range of restaurants and cafés. Keen mountain bikers will enjoy a trip to Glentress, or visit Go Ape for a fun day out. The property is ideally located for exploring further afield as it takes little time to head over the Queensferry Crossing into Fife and Perthshire. The towns of the Scottish Borders make for an excellent day out, with stunning scenery, ancient abbeys and pretty villages to discover. Beach 12 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

  • Delightful place in a great setting. The bothy has all the amenities anyone could possibly want for a visit including easy parking. The hosts Jak and Charlie respond very quickly to any communications and go out of their way to make everything as easy and pleasant as possible. From the front door there are pleasant country walks and yet Penicuik, Straiton and Edinburgh are not far away at all. Highly recommended.

  • Very cosy Bothy. Inviting and warm space with stunning views of the Pentland hills. The sheep in the field next door added to the bucolic atmosphere. Rural setting, would recommend a car. Enjoyed our stay! Thanks

  • We really enjoyed our stay here. The bothy is really cosy and beautifully set up. You have everything you need. The only disadvantage for us was the 20 minute walk to the next bus stop. We didn't meet Jak in person, but the communication was very good and Jak answered all our questions.

Formerly the sculleries for Thirlestane Castle, this part of the South Wing has been beautifully transformed into a high-end one-bedroom apartment. Accessed from the mezzanine of the castle’s Cobbled Courtyard, guests look out over the castle gardens to the rear with double-height windows throughout. The traditional flagstone floor in the hallway is a reminder of the apartment’s past, as is the historic mangle which has been re-purposed into a beautiful hallstand. The soft greens of the gardens outside have inspired the restoration of the space and link the bedroom with the natural beauty of its surroundings. The stunning sleigh bed and wardrobe were used by the Maitland family in their private rooms. Luxurious, heavy fabric frames the three tall windows as the room is flooded with dappled light through the nearby trees. Guests can enjoy the ultimate luxury in the extremely spacious bathroom and relax in the free-standing roll-top bath. A warm and cosy feel is created in the sitting room with the red-earth toned walls and royal blue accents. As in the bedroom, a large portrait from the castle collection reflects the grandeur of the castle and brings a sense of history to the space. Guests are made to feel part of the Thirlestane family with personal photos in the hallway showing the Maitland family competing in the show-jumping and eventing competitions at several Olympic Games. Completed in early 2019, this newly-refurbished apartment offers a cosy retreat for those wishing to explore the Scottish Borders.
The apartment is just 10-minutes' walk from the pretty town of Lauder. Here you will find a number of shops including convenience stores, a butcher, bakery and fruit and veg shop. There are also several pubs, a cafe/gallery and a restaurant. The Scottish Borders is so popular because of the sheer range of activities packed into such a small and accessible region - historic houses and castles, exciting festivals, arts and crafts, delicious local produce and miles of rolling hills, beautiful valleys and the Berwickshire coastline. For those that love the outdoors there is a variety of different activities available close at hand including horse riding, exhilarating cycling routes, fishing, golf and spectacular walking – the Southern Upland Way crosses the Thirlestane Estate. There is a small community leisure centre in Lauder which has a fully equipped gym that is available on a ‘pay as you go’ basis. The Scottish Borders is also renowned for its variety of crafts and is famous for producing quality textiles such as tweed, cashmere and tartan. Take a visit to a traditional workshop and workers will be more than happy to demonstrate their skills. There are several places throughout the Borders that offer visitor experiences including Lochcarron in Selkirk. The town of Hawick is the home of cashmere and there are several mills to visit here along with the Borders Distillery. Lots of the local attractions have children’s programmes such as Paxton House, Bowhill and Edinburgh Castle and many of the local towns have special places for small people. Watch out for Pot-a-Doodle Do near Berwick, the Scottish Borders Donkey Sanctuary near St Boswells and the opportunity to monkey around swinging between the trees at Go Ape near Pebbles. During the summer, the town’s main event is the Lauder Common Riding Festival where today’s residents commemorate the times when their forbearers patrolled the boundaries of their settlements on horseback. Join in the week-long festival and watch as standard-bearers elected by the townspeople enact ancient ceremonies and experience the exhilaration of seeing hundreds of riders galloping past amid a flurry of banners.
  • This is truly a great place to stay. Attention to detail, I cannot recommend this place more highly. Would go again in a heart beat.

  • Wow, what can I say? The Sculleries at Thirlestane Castle was the most amazing Airbnb we have ever stayed at. Beautiful apartment, fantastic bed (so big and comfy) lovely friendly team, great area to stay and explore ... we can't wait to go back. I really couldn't recommend more highly!

    Cas2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • I have just returned form what was an idyllic five days away at The Sculleries. Everything, from the facilities and cleanliness to the hospitality and friendliness was exceptional. On arrival we were greeted by our host Sarah who welcomed us to the area and showed us around the property. She offered ample support and suggestions as to the area and provided interesting and easily accessible places to walk our dogs. The hosts had kindly left fresh milk, jam, cake and filter coffee along with staple ingredients which was a lovely surprise and certainly not expected. The property itself is much larger and grander than the pictures represent, with all furnishings being of exceptional quality. Light and bright, we enjoyed a completely relaxing and much needed rest in a peaceful and tranquil environment. As Dog owners it was important to stay somewhere that we could enjoy time with our pets. knowing this, the hosts kindly left us dog bowls and were happy for us to walk them around the grounds. Packs of suggested activities and itineraries are left, with suggestions for food, walks, adventure and family activities. What is not noted on the advertisement is that they also offer Spa treatments, welcome packages of local food and tours of the property. We will certainly be booking to stay again soon and hope to make the most of these added extras in the near future. Both myself and my partner can not recommend this stay enough and have already suggested to friends and family. Thank you for what was the perfect relaxing break away, it was everything we could have hoped for and more!

Beautiful, spacious entire house available in the suburbs near Edinburgh. Stylish and bright, this property is a perfect base to stay whilst you explore Scotland’s capital and surrounding areas. 20 minutes bus journey to Edinburgh city centre and only half an hour drive to the stunning Scottish Borders. A plentiful array of local bars, restaurants and shops close by.
Guests are welcome to make themselves feel at home and use all our household amenities. Public transport s e.g bus stops and railway stations very close by. If the weather is right, feel free to make use of our garden (if the Scottish weather allows).
Bonnyrigg is typical Scottish community situated just outside Edinburgh. A short distance from both the city centre and countryside, you will have the opportunity to explore both. There are lots of local bars and restaurants in the surrounding area and we would be more than happy to point you in the direction of some of our favourites.
  • We had received a very warm welcome on our arrival at Coleen’s place. Throughout our stay Coleen has been a fantastic host responding quickly to all our queries. The house is very spacious with all amenities you may require and a lovely garden at the back if you need to relax a bit. Location is great, right in the Bonnyrigg town centre and a short drive/bus ride from Edinburgh. All in all, a great experience.

    Patryk2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second visit to Edinburgh, and Coleen’s place has been a perfect stay. A very large accommodation, with everything you would expect from your own home: a vast living room, a spacious kitchen with a 6 seats table overlooking a cozy and well-maintained garden, two separate double-bed-rooms, and a modern bathroom. In contrast with most Airbnb places, Coleen’s one provides also a dish-washing machine, a washing machine, a completely furnished kitchen, TV with Netflix, Sky, a large (100+) selection of DVDs, and even a PlayStation for kids (and grown-ups). As most options in Edinburgh, the location is not very central, but is conveniently located two minutes walk from the bus stop: there you can jump on the bus (line 31) and enjoy an eye-catching half hour drive towards Princes street on a tourist-friendly double decker.

  • The house is really nice and big, deco is warm. The place is perfect to be next to Edimbourg.

  • The house was very nice and confortable. Coleen was very attentive with the details. I strongly recomend this house.

  • To get the address on the GPS, do not follow the directions on the page in google maps because they take you to a cross street. Coleen has been pending and available and has left us very clear and useful instructions for our stay. The accommodation is as described on the page. It is very well located to go to Edinburgh by bus. We have been very well.

Our home is located in the beautiful village of Roslin. Roslin has transport links to Edinburgh, the coastal town of Musselburgh, and the Scottish borders. Within easy access of our home are woodland and river walks, Rosslyn Chapel, Rosslyn Castle, the Pentland hills and Roslin Glen. Roslin has a local pub which serves food. We are friendly hosts with good local knowledge. We share our home with a cat and a chocolate Labrador. Your bedroom has its own designated bathroom next to your room.
Our home is a modern, light, split level house. We are keen gardeners which makes the outside area very inviting.

  • We had a lovely stay. Irene and Andrew were very charming and friendly. Andrew gave us lot of great tips for our further trip and Irene is an absolutly perfect host, you will miss nothing. The room and bathroom where absolutly clean and tastefully decorated. Irene harvested her last strawberries to make a great fruitsalat for a perfect breakfast. Too bad that we only booked for one day, but we definately come again.

  • Being short: Irene and her husband are definitely superhosts. The bedroom and the bathroom are nice and clean. You have a tray with a kettle, tea and some cookies in the room. We brought some food with us and the hosts were really nice to provide us with additional tableware. The hosts themselves are friendly and actually interesting to talk to. It was a really good balance of talking to them and having our privacy. Besides, they gave us some really useful directions for our further trip. And of course the dog is just lovely :) Moreover, the breakfast was a really proper one. You can get a tea/coffee, cereals, toasts with jam, eggs. Additionally, in the morning we had to go to a pretty remotely located car rental, and the hosts offered to drive us there. This was just incredibly nice and helpful (saved us around 1h). All in all, this was definitely one of the nicest Airbnb experiences I've ever had.

    Valentina2019-08-18T00:00:00Z

  • Irene .. ^^ Irene & Andrew The best host. He looked carefully and cared about throughout his stay. Breakfast was great too. Rosslyn Chapel is near the house. It's a fantastic place to look around early in the morning. My family had some difficulties during the trip, and Irene and her family were very concerned and helpful. While traveling, I feel like I have learned a big lesson in life. Thank you so much ~ On my next trip, my grown-up son will visit. Always be happy ~ Thanks .. Irene & Andrew

  • Angus & Esther’s place is truly beautiful; stylish and cozy and with great amenities and plenty of personal touches that make you feel really cared for. Communication with them was informative and friendly and they had plenty of information about the surrounding area and access. They even went out of their way to bake us (vegan) brownies. We would HIGHLY recommend and would most certainly stay again when/if we’re in the area again. Thank you both so much for a wonderful stay!

  • Kieron's place is pretty nice. It's easy to find from Google Maps. The house is 10minutes away from bus stop (Hepburns drive), and it takes 50 minutes to Edinburgh center (bus 3). Please note that the transportation is really busy during August since Edinburgh holds festival every year. Kieron's house is clean and comfortable. The room is great, and we share a bathroom with the host. I like the well-equipped kitchen and the delicate dining area. There is also washing machine available. People who don't mind to travel long could consider to stay at Kieron's place. He also provided some simple breakfast with no additional charge (cereal, toast, milk, jam). High cp value! Strongly recommend!!

    Isabella2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Kieron's house is perfect place to stay if you're planning to visit Edinburgh. Despite of being quite far from the city center, there's a lot of bus connections so close from the house. All the house it's completely equiped with all the needed things. Very comfortable and cossy place. We definitely recommend it! Kieron was a great host and help us with all the things we need. It was great to be at his place.

  • We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Pentland Lodge to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday. The lodge is beautiful, very comfortable and has everything you could need. It was also lovely and warm, especially when the cosy wood burning stove was lit. We had a great time relaxing in the hot tub while it snowed around us which our two girls thought was fantastic. They also loved the horses in the surrounding fields. We didn't want to leave!

  • The host was efficient in responding and on hand to show us round when we arrived. The lodge was absolutely stunning. Everything about it was impressive, from the spacious rooms to the tasteful decor. Spotless throughout, very comfortable beds and set in a beautiful location. Looking up at the stars from the hot tub was a particular highlight. We will definitely be back soon.

Coddiwomple means “to travel in a purposeful manner towards a vague destination” we loved the idea :) Just 15 minutes from the City of Edinburgh bypass, this is the perfect rural retreat for those that want to explore the surrounding areas. Edinburgh and the Lothians offer much to explore. Just a stones throw away from Glenkinchie Distillery, the accommodation includes use of beautiful mature gardens in a tranquil farmland setting where wildlife is abundant. *VERY family friendly*
The cottage is a self contained guest cottage attached to the main house. Being a traditional cottage there are some low ceiling and door heights and some higgledy-piggledy bits too! The location really does have the best of both worlds- the cottage is situated in beautiful mature gardens which you are free to explore and surrounded by quiet farm tracks and fields but only 13 minutes from the City of Edinburgh bypass. We are especially set up for families. We KNOW the nightmare it can be, even leaving the house with little ones, never mind going on holiday, so we have tried to think of everything from Disney DVD's and games to a travel cot and baby bath. Ground Floor- Kitchen: Galley kitchen, kettle, toaster, oven, microwave, tea towels, grater, pots and pans, crockery and cutlery including ones for little fingers, iron and ironing board, cups, glasses, tea, coffee... and just things you would find in your own kitchen! Living room, which is situated just off the kitchen: L-shaped sofa bed, dining table and chairs, DVD player, TV, DVDs, books and games, TV unit, rug. Bathroom: Toilet, sink and electric shower, towels and some toiletries, baby bath, children's bath toys. 1st Floor- Master Bedroom: Double bed, chest of drawers, side tables, hooks for hanging clothes, bedclothes, cosy corner, books, radio alarm clock, USB ports for ease of phone charging, bedside lamps. Twin Room which is situated off the Master Bedroom: Two single beds, cupboard for clothes, games, bedside light, rug. If you need a high chair, bumbo seat, travel cot, or if your child has specific learning need and requires something in particular, please do not hesitate to ask. We will always try our best to help. The cottage can sleep up to 6. We wouldn't recommend 6 adults staying at the cottage it would be better suited to couples or families. There are extras that are available including pick ups and drop offs, clothes washing service and a starter pack for the kitchen...bread, eggs, bacon, butter, milk...you get the idea!
The cottage is just a few miles from Humbie Hub that sells the best scones we have ever tasted and they do a pretty good cooked breakfast too! East Lothian is especially popular with cyclists and our road sees many cyclists making their way through the stunning countryside. If you are keen cyclists we can arrange somewhere secure where you can store your bikes overnight. We are only... 13 minutes from the Edinburgh city bypass 13 minutes from Vogerie Country Park 17 minutes from Dalkeith Counrty Park 20 minutes from the historic 'Honest Toun' of Musselburgh 30 minutes from East Links Family Park 32 minutes from Bobcat Alpaca Experience 40 minutes from 5 Sisters Zoo 40 minutes from the beautiful North Berwick...we could go on, but there are too many brilliant days out near us and we haven't even started on what's on in Edinburgh! You might be from Edinburgh and just want a weekend of country...you are very welcome!
  • Pam and her family were wonderful hosts. There was nothing they wouldn't do for us. Very quick to respond and gave great local advice! The home was perfect for families and children and had lots of great personal touches. We had a fabulous time in a wonderful location!

    Lynsey2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great and relaxing stay! Would recommend bringing a car if you are able just for ease of reaching the cottage, but the walks around are lovely and it was a gorgeous hideaway for a few days. Pam and her partner were delightful. Very cute ducks and great to have the hot tub especially when it's super chilly outside... highly recommend!

    Jessica2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the cottage was fab! I loved waking up to the ducks and lovely views every day, there was a nice wee fresh rose on the table, hot tub fairy lights and heating all on ready for us arriving - it was so cute and cosy and Pam and her husband are so helpful and lovely. Thank you so much for a great weekend x

    Courtney2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Pam’s cottage. The space was wonderful, very peaceful and private. The cottage was immaculate when we arrived and had all the amenities we needed. Pam and her husband were great hosts and replied to all of our queries very quickly. Once the hot tub needed a filter change, they responded immediately and fixed it straight away. Would absolutely recommend this cottage. We were two couples with a dog but I can imagine it would also be great for families.

  • The spring cottage is lovely and very comfortable. We found a really clean house, equipped with all the essentials. It's perfect for four people, but remember that the two beds are queen sized. Location-wise it takes around 5 minutes to the bus stop that will take you to the city centre in 30 minutes. There's also a supermarket near the bus stop. Irene responds quickly, she helped and guided us through our many questions and demands even if we never had the chance to meet each other.

    Francesca2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is my third stay at Irene's cottage as usual it is very clean with good amenities. Irene is an excellent host and her personal touches on arrival were very appreciated. The location of the cottage is ideal

  • Spring Cottage was ideal for our visit to Bonnyrigg - a clean, well-maintained and equipped property in a great location. Quiet and well situated. Irene was really friendly and very responsive to our questions in advance of and throughout our stay. Will definitely seek to stay here again for future visits to the area - it represented great value. Top marks!

The vibrant city of Edinburgh is worth a visit anytime of year. After a busy day exploring Edinburgh's historic streets return "home" to cosy Kyle cottage on Thornton Farm, open a bottle of wine and put your feet up in front of a log burning stove.
Our farm cottage is fully equipped for the perfect town and country holiday, just 20 minutes drive south of Edinburgh city centre, situated on our working farm. We are surrounded by gentle countryside, ancient Sequoia trees and paddocks where horses graze and roe deer roam. Kyle (Farm) Is the lower level of a converted farm building. Kyle cottage has 2 bedrooms comprising one kingsize double room and one twin bedded room. The lounge/dining/kitchen area is fully equipped with electric oven, ceramic hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer are in a separate laundry room attached to the cottage. Comfy seating with TV integral DVD player, freeview and Wifi. Please note that there is no bath, it is a large walk-in wet room consisting of shower, wash hand basin and toilet also suitable for wheelchair access. There is ample car parking right at the door and a patio area with table and chairs. All linen, towels, oil for central heating and logs for log-burning Squirrel stove is included. It is preferable that you have a car, as we are a 10 minute walk on farm roads (with no street lights) to the village and nearest bus to Edinburgh. Having said that, the bus service is good and regular, so not essential to have a car. We also have a local, friendly taxi driver in the village. Eskbank station is a 15 minute drive where you can park for free all day and catch regular trains into Edinburgh taking 18 minutes. The Farm is a 5 minute walk from the cottage. Thornton is a working farm, so you can see sheep, cattle and plenty of horses, as we have a livery yard. Two more challenging 18 holes courses are less than 10 minutes drive (website hidden) St Andrews is an easy 1hour 40mins drive so treat yourself to a game there! The many fine historic castles and houses in the "borders", an easy drive South, as is the road north to the Highlands and islands. The Pentland Hills for great walks and wildlife are on our doorstep. We love living here and really enjoy sharing our part of Bonnie Scotland
A stunningly beautiful location surrounded by paddocks and ancient trees yet only 25 minutes drive from historic Edinburgh city centre. You will need a car to get to our nearest pubs and restaurants. The Original Inn at Roslin The Papermill at Lasswade Cibos Italian at Penicuik
  • Lovely cottage located in a peaceful setting. No phone signal or 4g which for our break suited me perfectly

    Tim2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Kyle cottage is in a pretty, rural setting and has a private outlook onto the large garden. It is very comfortable with large settees in the combined kitchen/lounge which is spacious and light. The kitchen is well equipped which meant it was easy to cook most nights. The underfloor heating was very efficient. We slept better than at home! Our family, who live nearby, came to visit and loved the cottage too. Thank you Margot for being such an attentive and responsive host.

The House on the Hill is the main part of this beautiful stone-built cottage on a hill farm in the Scottish Borders. This old shepherd's house is modern & cosy, has a superb kitchen, huge lounge & a stunning rural location. The house next door, the Little House on the Hill, is also available. It is the right hand wing of the building and for a larger house party, the interconnecting doors can be opened up to make it one large house.
The House on the Hill is available for up to four people on a self catering basis. The house is part of Hillhouse Farm in the Scottish Borders which is also home to a few thousand sheep. The Sutherland family have farmed here for over 50 years across 3 generations. It's a fantastic place - sitting high on the hills overlooking Lauderdale it really does have tremendous views. The House on the Hill is an old shepherd's house but it's been refurbished recently so now you'll find it to be modern & cosy. It also has a superb farmhouse-style kitchen, huge lounge, large bedrooms and two bathrooms (one of which is en suite). This is a really spacious house so you won't feel like you're living in each other's pockets, but it's also somewhere we hope you will feel immediately at home in. The house next door, the Little House on the Hill, is also available - it has virtually the same facilities as the House on the Hill but all with much cosier proportions! There are interconnecting doors between the two houses which we unlock if both properties are being rented by one party. The Little House on the Hill can, of course, also be rented completely separately.
  • Great place. Lovely big sociable kitchen, ideal for our friends catch up over food and drinks. Nice to have a good sized fridge and freezer. Comfy beds and sofas. Lots of lovely walks locally. Would definitely recommend.
