Places to stay in Drumconrath
Victoria Drummond Tower was built as a Folly Tower in the victorian period in 1858 by Victor Drummond Delap as part of Monasterboice House & Demesne. The tower is regarded as a folly tower built in remembrance of his late mother Victoria Drummond Delap. Recently restored into a small habitable dwelling and is now available for rental for selected months of the year. A very unique and enjoyable place to stay with a vast range of local & historical amenities at your disposal.
Drummond Tower comprises of 4no. floors including a top roof level which guests can enjoy extensive views of the surrounding countryside. The ground floor comprises of a kitchen area with cooking and washing facilities. On the first floor there is a comfortable living room with adequate space to relax and watch TV or read books form the extensive book collection. There are 2no. couches with 1no. being a comfortable double sofa bed. The second floor bedroom is the last of the internal floors which comprises of a queen sized bed with en-suite, shower and washing facilities. One of the great advantages is waking up in the mornings and looking out over the tree tops and the immediate countryside. The top floor level is the external castellated roof terrace. There is 360 degree views of the area and space to enjoy the fine weather. The roof terrace is illuminated so one can access the area during at night to look at the stars
Drummond Tower is situated in the countryside on the Boyne Valley Drive - R168. 5 mins from Monasterboice Round Tower & Melifont Abbey. Newgrange, Dowth, Oldbridge (Battle of the Boyne) and Slane / Collon Village is within 15mins drive. Drogheda is located nearby with shopping, Restaurants and Bars. We would recommend Monasterboice Inn (5 mins drive) with selection of fine food & beverages. Also check out "No. Three" in the local Village of Collon which would be approx 3 miles or visit the lovely village of Slane and have a pint on Boyles Pub
  • Don't book this place. I want to make sure there are no conflicts with my future stays. This was the definition of a dream stay for us. Absolutely everything we wanted in a country castle tower. We will be back as soon as we can!

  • This was a great place to stay to start off our trip! It was remote and quiet, but could drive to nearby restaurants. Would recommend this place to anyone! Hope to return someday!

  • We greatly enjoyed our stay at Drummond Tower. It’s a unique place that is very clean. We used it as our base for exploring the many historic places in the area. Many sites and several towns are within an easy 20 minute drive. I highly recommend staying at Drummond Tower as the price is untreatable for what you get.

    Jeremy2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures don't do this location justice. Eanan was quick to respond to my messages, and the directions for how to find and access the tower were very clear. Everything was clean and orderly, and waking up early to watch the sunrise over the surrounding area on the very top floor was magical. I would definitely recommend this place to stay if you are planning to be in Ireland!

Hatch's Castle has many beautiful features including the Dome Hall, the original spiral staircase, and a wonderfully restored drawing room on the first floor, where you can sit down and relax. We're situated in the lovely town Ardee, which is surrounded by many historic places such as the Jumping Church and Newgrange. There are few restaurants around Ardee and several shops. You can find out more on my Face book page Hatchs Castle.
Walking inside Hatch's castle on the Main Street of Ardee is a feeling of space and tranquility. From that moment you know you have entered a castle that is waiting to be explored. There are four floors, each boasting character and an ambiance of true charm and comfort. Ground floor entrance hall with dome ceiling is also used as a dinning room. The 1st floor has the drawing room with an open fire. Here you can help yourself to a drink, relax, read and unwind. Breakfast can be served here in the large window over looking the Main Street. The 2nd and 3rd floor have a bedroom and private bathroom each. It is possible to see Ardee and its surrounding countryside from the roof. There is a cobble stone yard to sit in and a walled garden to enjoy during the summer months.
Ardee has been a wonderful place to be brought up. Everyone is so friendly and I have to say, I can get everything I need here. Sometimes I realised days have gone by and I never moved the car..! I walk along the old railway and up to the jumping church, great bike rides over the bog, where they cut the turf. Nice tea shops, clothes shop, restaurants and lively Irish pubs. Everyone knows everyone in a simple kind of way.
  • This is a unique stay in an actual castle squashed into a row of buildings right in the middle of Ardee! I stayed in the William suite with a room and bathroom down a private hall up a fairly tightly spiraled staircase - carry-on size or daybag luggage recommended. The room did seem to get a little cool in the morning - but it’s a stone castle in February and not unexpected. The room stayed dark with optional indoor shutters and curtains. The bathroom featured a separate soaking tub, rainfall shower and an unexpected toilet room space. The drawing room was inviting and comfortable with excellent WiFi connections. Hands down, the best part was the visit to the top of the turret! Keep going up the spiral staircase, through a fairly small door, a bit further and then you have a turret-top view of the village! Such fun!

    Grace2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely stay at the castle!! Amazing hospitality with breakfast food provided, and games to play! The views from the top of the castle are lovely, would definitely recommend a visit! Would recommend having a car to get around and visit local places though :) overall, lovely stay!! Five stars!!!! :)

  • This place far exceeded our expectations! It really is a castle-with all the modern amenities.

  • Nikki's castle is magical. If you are searching for a real castle where to sleep in, this is perfect. Everything is perfect, every detail is there for a reason and everything is super authentic. We loved to stay there for a night and Ardee is lovely too. Best castle ever!

Rathgillen Lodge is renovated stone cottage from the 1800's. With plenty of character, the living/kitchen has a wood burning stove set into a big hearth. There is a fully fitted kitchen , double bedroom and pull out sofa-bed.
Rathgillen Lodge is situated on a 125-acre working farm and enjoys beautiful views of the countryside. The location is quiet and peaceful and yet is only 1 km from the pretty village of Nobber and 1-hour drive from Dublin and 1 hour from Belfast. Meath is an area of legend of folklore, Vikings & Normans, castles and crosses and lots of monastic ruins to visit. It is also an area for great fishing, beautiful sandy beaches, horse riding and golf. Shops, pubs and restaurants are located nearby. We are situated 10 km from Cabra Castle Hotel and 16 km from Navan Town. The renovated stone cottage has lots of character and has oil central heating , solar panels and a woodburning stove. The accommodation sleeps 2 in the main bedroom with a pull out sofa-bed in the living area offering room for a further 2 people. It is suitable for all needs with wide doors and a wet room bathroom.
The cottage is situated 1 km from Nobber Village
  • Peter is wonderful. If you want a taste of Irish culture (meaning the sort of setting folks traditionally lived in and to meet an awesome local in a rural area), this is a great way to do it. He has put a lot of time and money into shaping up the place so you’ll hardly realize it’s an old cottage from the inside. He loves to share what he knows and he will give his perspective on things as well if you ask! Bakes scones and preps a cuppa when you check in. Friendly dogs on the farm. It’s just up the road from Nobber with a sign when you reach the farm, and he was walking out once we arrived. He also offered boots so we could walk about the farm after encountering him on one of his morning walks. Keogan’s was a good way at night to grab a drink in town and meet locals. Anyway, get off the beaten path and give Peter’s a try! He’s really awesome and I hope he does well in his little business and farm.

    Kayla2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at this roomy historic cottage! The tour of the farm and up to the ringfort was priceless.

    Michael2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Peter welcomed us warmly with a cup of tea. The lodge was perfectly fitted for our trip. I can definitely recommend a stay.

    Roman2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful quiet environment in a traditional house. Very good access to Dublin. Cleanly, quietly, everything available what you need. There was a milk and cake welcome and finally a trip to the farm quad. Thank you very much.

    Mariana2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The stay with Peter was wonderful. We can only join the previous speakers, how warmly we were greeted with pastries and tea (although we only arrived at 11 p.m.), with such dedication and passionate care as he takes care of his guests is just great. A car is definitely needed. The price / performance ratio fits. Some excursions can be made from the accommodation: Newgrade, Belfast, Dublin, Mellifont Abby, Slanecastle. For shopping, we mostly drove to Lidl, 15 minutes away. We will come back in any case.

    Victoria2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A great little getaway spot just a couple minutes outside the village of Nobber, we had a great time here. The lodge was clean and homely, with a lovely warm fire. Peter was extremely welcoming and we had a great chat upon arrival, with added scones! Would absolutely return in future.

    Bryan2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • We were so thankful to have found this Airbnb. Super affordable and very nice! The location is beautiful and Peter was the greatest host.

  • Warm welcome with tea and homemade scones and a chat about the facilities and local area.House was spotless, really warm and the wood burning stove made our stay even more cosy.If you want a quiet and peaceful place to relax and recharge then this is the space.

My farm is close to great views and family-friendly activities. You’ll love my place because of the ambiance, the outdoors space, the Boyne Valley which is full of history, and Rathgillen House which is stone house that dates from pre 1850 and the walks around the farm where you can view the cattle, sheep, lamas, hens, alpacas and meet our friendly collie Lucky.
Our house is fully of history having been constructed in pre 1850 and we have the area map of 1853 which shows the stone barn. We are situated close to the historic Boyne Valley. Bru na Boinne , Trim Castle, Cabra Castle and the Battle of the Boyne site are all close by. Tayto Park is a theme park and a huge attraction for children. You can chill out in the house which has lots of space.
Our houses are located on a farm. You are 1 km from the village of Nobber. You have safe walkways through the farm.
  • Loved staying here! The place was clean and had everything we needed. Peter is so kind and his stories are great. The cute pups aren’t a bad touch either.

    Erin2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • The house is a warm, spacious, homely home from home in which Peter welcomes you with his homemade scones and tea. It's pristine and the beds are good, kitchen well equipped and the fireplace is the cherry on the scone. If you like the silence and serenity of the rural area, book Peter's home and/or adjacent lodge! Tanja

    Tanja2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Peter has a true gift for hospitality. The farm is comfortable and charming, and Peter is a superb host. We were greeted warmly when we arrived and served the most delicious scones and tea I’ve ever had in my life. We were traveling with a group of 5 and we were more than comfortable. The farm is about 45 minutes or so outside of Dublin and it’s very serene. Peter gave us a lovely tour of the farm which included some incredible views. The beds were comfortable and everything was very clean. We will definitely be back to stay again!

  • If you have a large family, or a family with teenagers this is a fantastic location with lots of space for everyone. Relaxing and beautiful in the heart of the countryside this is the perfect spot for a family vacation. Peter is a wonderful and flexible host. We travelled from the farm for day trips to Waterford, Giants Causeway, Galway, Dublin and more. Coming home each night to the fireplace every night. Cant recommend enough. The teenagers loved it too - wifi was great. This is our second stay with Peter and we wouldnt hesitate to come again.

It was lovely and warm and there is always hot water. Wifi throughout ths Mews. Nobber is a mile from the farm. There is a nice bar there with a pool table. The Dee bar is it's name. An Lochta is a converted , two story, 19th century grain store, surrounded by a mature and carefully tended garden on a small farm, set in the idyllic rustic peace and quiet of rural Co Meath. Despite our seclusion, we are just 10 minutes from the M1 motorway, 1 hour from Dublin and within easy reach of the major historical sites of Meath, Louth, Cavan and Monaghan. (Unfortunately the layout of the building renders it unsuitable for wheelchair users).
You will be greeted with a warm welcome to our extremely well appointed and wonderfully cosy old world charm house in the most relaxing of environments. Enjoy our freshly home baked Irish farmhouse bread and our delicious marmalade, eggs from our own hens (when the hens are laying which is most of the time) and we provide you with tea, coffee, milk and butter and some vegetables if you wish, when in season. (Unfortunately the layout of our building renders it unsuitable for wheelchair users)
We are located in the very top corner of County Meath, 12 minutes drive from Ardee, Kingscourt and Carrickmacross. It's said locally that the roar of an ass can be heard in four counties, Louth, Meath, Cavan and Monaghan such is our proximity to each. If relaxation is what you seek we have a beautiful garden where you may take a leisurely stroll or wander our small farm. Our roads are narrow and quiet ideal for walking with lane ways, lakes and forest tracks within easy reach.(Dun na Ri forest park and Lough an Lea both being well worth a visit). We are well served with interesting pubs and eateries, Tankardstown House, a very fine restaurant is 20 minutes away. Closer by, The Cross Guns, a gastro pub in Nobber, The Wishing Well in Kingscourt and The Courthouse in Carrickmacross are all worthy of mention. If ancient culture is your interest, we are surrounded by ring forts standing stones and more recent medieval history. The views, from some of the ring forts especially, are stunning with the patchwork of tidy fields and vistas of the Cooley Mountains. For those with an interest in music, there are trad sessions in Kingscourt and Ardee (Sunday's and Thursday's), folk and bluegrass also in Ardee on Thursdays and many pubs offer live weekend music. Whatever your taste may be, you will receive a warm welcome in An Lochta.
  • This is one of the best AirBnbs we've visited over the past couple years traveling almost full-time. The space is rustic but cozy and provided the exact Irish country experience anyone could want. It's worth noting that the wifi could be challenging at times and so not practical for work conference call purposes - email was fine. We used this space as a launch pad to the many surrounding attractions. Simon and Natasha are incredible hosts and made us feel most welcome and cared for.

    Jim2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic 2-night stay in Simon and Natasha's place. Our hosts was incredibly welcoming, providing freshly baked bread and homemade marmalade (there would also have been eggs but the poor chickens were caught by foxes). The home itself is beside Simon and Natasha's beautiful garden, which is in the middle of gorgeous countryside. The accommodation itself was very comfortable, well-equipped, and really nicely decorated. There are great local pubs in the area, and there are heaps of archaeological and historical sites to see - Simon suggested visiting the local Jumping Church which was a great tip. If we're visiting the area again we'll definitely stay here again. Thanks for a lovely stay!

    Jonathan2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Simon and Natasha’s space! They were kind, warm, and incredibly welcoming and helpful hosts. The space and property are beautiful with great access to the historic sites of eastern Ireland. We would highly recommend their space to anyone traveling to Ireland!

    Jessica2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • The little cottage is so cute so smartly set up and very clean and the property is very peaceful a lot of nature around it it’s kind of like having your own little cottage. Simon and Natasha are so nice and warm and welcoming they even have fresh baked brown bread on your arrival and they give you eggs when they have extra from the chickens. You’re able to cook in your own little kitchen to save some money and they have a washing machine and they will dry it for you, in their dryer which was so nice. We had such a nice time we were visiting family and friends nearby. We would highly recommend them.

    Marie-Ann2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Our hosts could not have been more welcoming and obliging. The home made marmalade and freshly baked bread were a special touch. The cottage was a great space, spotlessly clean and was perfect for the get away my partner and I were looking for. We will be back.

  • We absolutely loved our stay at An Lochta. Simon and Natasha are fantastic hosts, they went above and beyond during our stay and made our trip to Ireland very special. Brilliant local area recommendations too to places we would never have found. Such a sweet little cottage - all the amenities that you need in the most beautiful of Irish countryside. Thanks for having us! X

  • It’s such a lovely place to stay, like a home from home. So close to all the sacred sites. I was very content to take a break from city life and be in the comfy surrounds of the farm.

  • Siobhan's place is like a hidden gem in the countryside. Just an hour from Dublin city you will find yourself totally immersed in mother nature - organic vegetable farm, beautiful green scenery and surrounded by animals. I booked a massage from Siobhan at very last minute and she was so accommodating. The massage was definitely a highlight, I felt totally being looked after - physically as well as spiritually. Then, Siobhan's mom walked me through their organic farm where there is so much variety of vegetables and herbs, you name it they have it. You will get to eat whatever is in season - without any nasty pesticides! The room itself is sparkling clean, the kitchen is a communal area where you get to interact with different guests from different places. Lastly, if these wouldn't convince you to have a stay, I don't know what will.

    Mable2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • I can highly recommend this place! Siobhan and her family are very kind and lovely people. They were extremely helpful and really made me feel at home. Their place is quietly located, in a beautiful area surrounded by nature. It's the ideal spot to just kick back, relax and enjoy the amazing scenery. I will definitely return again in the future!

  • Grainne is a wonderful host. I stayed 6 weeks at her house in the beautiful countryside of Carrickmacross and had a great time there. The welcome was very warm and the check in was uncomplicated. After a few hours I already felt like being at home and the whole family always made me feel welcome. They also gave me brilliant tips what to do and where to go. I will definitely miss the nice conversations. The surrounding area is perfect to go for a walk. Carrickmacross is also a charming little town with a lot of historical background to discover and Grainne recommended some very good cafes to me. The food Grainne offered every day was excellent and rich. My room was very bright, cosy, and clean. The bed was wonderfully comfortable and I had enough blankets and pillows. The bathroom and the rest of the house were also clean and tidy. I really enjoyed my time and I would love to come back some day.

  • Grainne's place is a lovely country home, not far from town and set among green pastoral hills. Amazingly peaceful. My room was perfect for one or two persons. Morning breakfast was awesome and filling. I had all the help I needed to flesh out plans for golf and sight-seeing. Grainne knows Ireland. I can't wait to come back.

There are a few restaurants around Ardee and several shops. You can find out more on my Face book page Hatchs Castle.
Built in Norman times and given to the Hatch family by Oliver Cromwell. The 1st floor has a drawing room with an open fire.
  • It's an actual to God castle, and it's so damn cool! The whole place plays to the aesthetic, and it's especially nice you are allowed to go to the roof and look out around the town. I imagine on a sunny Summer day it's a great place for drinks. One thing I noticed though it is very difficult to get up and down, because the stairs are original. So be warned to anyone with a mobility disability. Also, may or may not be haunted?

  • This was one of our favorite stays of our whole two week trip, for sure! Very unique & interesting place to stay, plus it was very comfortable. We stayed and James' Room and it was nice and warm, the water was nice and hot, and the provisions for breakfast were lovely. Highly recommend!

    Justine2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This will definitely be on my list of places to stay next time I vacation in Ireland!!! It’s absolutely beautiful and the host, Nikki, is very responsive and there to help if a need or question was to arise. It’s got lots of local places to walk to for a bite to eat or to grab a pint. I found myself looking at every art piece and detail. The kitchen is dreamy, along with the den. You will not be disappointed!!! The only thing I would change is to stay longer next time!!!

    Jana2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place is an amazing experience. If you're looking for an authentic castle experience with a few modern amenities and a warm, welcoming, friendly, caring and helpful host, I highly recommend Hatch's Castle. We came to Ireland with our teenaged daughter and spent our first night here in the castle. Nikki was unable to greet us on arrival, most likely because we were pretty off schedule at arrival, but she made sure to share the code for the door and once inside she made sure someone was there to greet us and orient us. If you're a dog lover, even if you're not, be sure to ask to meet the dogs! We were lucky enough to get to meet them. She has one busy lovie and one large, beautiful wise soul. If you're not a dog lover, the little lovie (I'm terrible with names) might be a bit much because she's very active, but even so she's full of love. Her older dog, sorry, I'm not good with breeds either, was like meeting a wise old guy. The castle itself, aside from its history is really interesting. Everything is original. There are so many interesting things around. I swear every time I looked around I saw something I hadn't seen before. The structure is old as expected. The appliances and utensils in the kitchen are comfortable and clean to use. There's even a second t.v. in the kitchen. We didn't do much except make tea as we had a delightful dinner at Muldoons (best sticky toffee pudding so far) and Nikki left us an assortment of scones, Irish soda bread, fruit plate etc for breakfast before we left. The scones are the best I've had in Ireland so far. The bathroom is old and original. I won't tell you everything, the suprises were the best part for us. The stairs are really narrow and winding. I'm glad that we packed overnight bags and left our suitcases in the car. It was a bit chilly, but not uncomfortable at all. If you keep doors closed it stays quite cosy everywhere. The area was another suprise. EVERYONE was friendly and said hello to us as we walked down the street. There's a coffee shop, bakery, grocery store, bar, restaurants, chinese food, it's really a good choice to spend a few nights.

    Joy2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Hatch's Castle is such a unique and special place! Nikki was a great host and was quick to communicate when there needed to be a change in what room we were in. The bed was very cozy and the breakfast options perfect. I would definitely recommend staying here, it truly felt like staying in an old castle but with all the modern features you could need!

Cordial hosts. Guestbook pointed us to #3 for a lovely dinner less than 10 mins drive away. Lots of books, DVDs and games for stormy nights at home. :-)

  • I wish I could give more than five stars for location. While I knew little about this area prior to my stay here, I feel I won the lottery by being so close to the Boyne River Valley. While my friends have all hit the usual Irish stops--Guinness, Blarney Stone, and Cliffs of Moher, I'm so grateful we stayed at Ellie and Barry's home to see equally remarkable sights though not as well known. Do yourself a favor and look into Slane Hill, Hill of Tara, and New Grange and spend time at Ellie's cottage to take it all in. Ellie as a host was superb. We asked for the Boyne Valley basket that she offers through her listing and it provided our family of five with three meals worth of food we prepared in the grand kitchen. We enjoyed the food around the rustic wooden kitchen table. The house itself is extremely warm and cozy. I have to admit, I did not get out of bed as early as I wanted each morning because the antique bed, bureau, and nightstands were so warm in this restored tenant's cottage that all I wanted to do was lie in bed and read or write in my journal. Ellie was very responsive and made our stay stress free so we could focus on what was important--ENJOYING IRELAND!

    Emily2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Sakeena's place for a total of about 6 months. Because of my work, I had to travel a lot while I was staying there, therefore it was extra nice to have a place that truly felt like a home away from home, where I could relax and unwind. The hospitality of our hosts was amazing! I did not expect them to be so accommodating, but they were both flexible and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place, especially to people with a family, as the house is quite spacious with multiple living rooms which my children quickly converted into playing areas. The house also has a nice garden and outside area, which we frequently used. Louth village also has multiple interesting sites for exploration, and is only about 10-15 min away from Dundalk.

  • I've stayed here on and off for a while now while traveling for work, both with and without my family. Has never failed to live up to expectations! Would definitely recommend!!

  • I've ben staying here with my family for a while now. A bit on and off with my job demanding a lot of traveling. We've had only positive experiences so far. The place is perfect for kids, Sakeena and her local associates are exceptionally friendly and helpful! The place is clean and the local area is beautiful. Dundalk is just a 10 -15 min drive away. Would definitely recommend this place!

  • We loved our stay at Sakeena’s place. It was quiet and near the ruins of an old church. The home is a charming older home that has been renovated and is very clean. Catriona is the local contact who welcomed us and gave a tour of the property. We were provided with milk and bread and there were ample supplies in the pantry.

    Erin2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Apartment was 70 km from the Dublin Airport. It was so nice and very comfortable. The kitchen was good fitted. It was very cozy there. The next big Supermarket was in Dundalk 11 km far away that was not a big problem to buy there some food. The Host was very friendly and gave us good tips to visit Irland. I would definitely came back again.

Old workers cottage. In a quiet area not to far from a nice village. Halfway between Dublin and Belfast, close to Newgrange and Dowth and the battle of the boyne, for the younger children tayto Park and some nice beaches are approx 30 mins away. Linda will be able to fill you in with any local information needed. The house is heated by solid fuel cooker and also has oil heating. We are constantly refurbishing the house with the income from Airbnb.
We live on a narrow road you have to be careful there can be many obstacles you will find when you come around a corner for example children, animals or tractors.
  • The Cottage is in a rural area and is completely restful. You have to have your own transport, it is about three kilometres from Tallanstown and there is no public transport. Though not impossible, taxi's aren't readily available. Nearby Ardee is a town with most amenities. We enjoyed our stay tremendously and you'll find Linda and James perfect hosts.

The guest house isn't far from Carrickmacross, and takes about 20 minutes to walk there. We had to go to a funeral next day, and Geraldine was especially supportive to us, and helpful regarding local information. Her husband even offered us a lift into town. We felt very well looked after. Thanks Geraldine.

  • If there’s any place where you can experience farm life, be it from the sidelines or helping out, it’s at magical Rathe House. No lavish luxuries here and yet it felt like a true treat. The barn (2p) is cozy and kept comfortably warm and the vast grounds belonging to Brian’s estate are amazing. Finish off the day in front of the fire in the common room and hot whiskey if you are lucky and some wonderful stories. And all the dogs got along fine. Brian, thanks for having us.

    Melanie2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • There are no words to describe the brilliance of staying at Brian's; to say that it is life-changing would be a great understatement. I had the good fortune of being able to be both front and center in assisting the shepherd tend to his flock, as well as wandering off by myself in order to simply marvel in the solace of the property. Whatever experience you desire (archery, clay pigeon shooting, off-roading, farm work, countryside roving), Rathe House will go the extra mile in delivering an outstanding, unforgettable experience.

    Peter & Cynthia2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • It was an amazing stay, and I found Brian to be an immensely thoughtful, sincere, and very gracious host. He was extremely kind- and always went the extra mile to ensure I was engaged. Very thankful that I chose to stay here, and grateful that I’ve had the chance to befriend him.

    Lisa2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Brian's cottage is straight from a fairy tale. And by that, I don't mean the polished version some hosts out there try to recreate, but an actual place with history, nature and rustic atmosphere. This is the perfect stay for those who want to enjoy life in the country as it actually is: surrounded by dogs, horses and a few spiders! This was an amazing experience that I would recommend to everyone and that I'm sure I would want to have a again!

    Quentin2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Brian is, and i cannot stress this enough, the absolute sweetest human being that exists. He was an incredible host who let us explore his land like it was our own. When we expressed interest in his horses that were out in the fields he gave us a leash and told us to go on out and hook one and walk them back. We then got to go out on horseback and explore more of his property. The horses were incredibly sweet and gentle. Brian has several dogs that are equally as sweet. When we asked Brian to recommend somewhere to eat for my boyfriend’s birthday dinner he went the extra mile and made reservations for us (The restaurant was Cross Guns and it was excellent). The house and property was beautiful, a truly authentic experience.

    Rachel2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Rathe House is a really special place, with charming buildings, rustic settings, and an amazing host who shares the delights with enthusiastism. We had a most relaxing time with our dog Sully, settled in straight away, and took to the fields for breathtaking scenery. Experiencing horse riding, the mud hut and clay pigeon shooting were amazing.

    Wayne2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Where do I start! My partner, myself and my dog decided to stay here for the night. I have to say, the photos really do not do it justice. The space is a lot bigger and just beautifully laid out! The surrounding area is breathtaking with so much to see and do, all on Brian’s land. Brian is a fantastic host who made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. He had lots of dogs that entertained my own! Brian took us clay pigeon shooting and to do archery and it was so much fun. Brian also took us up to see the newborn lambs and I was able to bottle feed them! One night really was not enough for us and we can’t wait to get back again for a longer amount of time. There is a converted room in the courtyard which had a large open fire which was lovely to sit by. We can’t wait to stay again. Thanks Brian, it was a pleasure meeting you!

    Demi2019-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful experience! Brian is the most incredible host, very welcoming and caring for his guests. The farm is huge and so beautiful and there are so much to do around. • Bridget and her daughter Siobhan were sweet and accommodating hosts! Bridget takes care of all the daily chores and Siobhan does the internet and bookings. Fresh homemade soda bread was available for morning breakfast along with eggs , butter and .Organically grown onions and Garlic . In the summer, a long term guest tolk me that the organic home grown vegetables are amazing . The homemade Irish stew Bridget made for another guest smelled amazing. Only €5 for a huge portion. The olace was Tidy and clean. Will definitely come back!

Siobhan and Bridget were very friendly and welcoming. The accommodation was really cosy and felt like a home away from home. Thanks also to Siobhan for a beautiful healing session. I fully recommend staying here. Amazing value for money too. :)

  • I would like to say thanks to everyone at the farm who made my stay a memorable experience, if you want to use the facilities you can, eggs, bread tea and coffee is provided. If you are like me, I dont like to cook when on holiday, you can take a nice stroll up to the Staholmog service station (Histy), who will serve you a full Irish breakfast (Yum), sandwiches, wraps, cakes with tea of coffee, what ever you want. The farm is ideally placed so you can visit Carlanstown, Kells, Navan, Trim, The Hill of Tara to name but a few. I wouldn't hesitate to go back and soak in the Irish hospitality.

  • I had a wonderful experience at Siobhan's place. The single room I was staying in was far bigger than most double sized rooms. There were features to the property and reminded me of fond memories I had from my childhood visiting my grand parents and extended family in the country. The family and the person were all so friendly and it was a pleasure staying there. Perfect escape from the chaotic city life. Will definitely go back. There are a few projects being work upon which will definitely make the place even more enjoyable.

  • very nice place with a typical irish atmosphere ... our host is very attentive and caring for our needs ... the bed is of flawless quality. the house is his age but if you want to feel in the country's autumnal countryside, then you are there.

  • Kathryn's home is in lovely countryside. It was a good stop for us as we were heading to Dublin airport the next day which was only 1.25 hour drive. We had a TV in our room, bed was comfy and washroom very clean. She also laid out a breakfast for us. We would stay there again.

  • Spotless clean and having breakfast available was a welcome bonus

  • Drumroan House is a welcoming big farmhouse. The room we stayed in is spacious and airy, the carpets thick and soft and the bed marvelously big and comfortable. The private bathroom is also spacious and sparkling clean with a large shower. Kathryn is a kind and accommodating host, responding rapidly to questions and very helpful. Although the house and surroundings are very peaceful, it is also very well situated for visits to Newgrange, Tara, Mellifont Abbey, Kells etc. Definitely an address to remember!

  • I have never been so impressed with any accommodation before. What an amazing weekend. The tranquility here is just incredible. The space is completely functional and comfortable. Everything that you could possibly need for a relaxing and romantic getaway is here - Carol and Patrick have left no stone unturned! The extra touches in the complimentary bottle of wine and breakfast items were very welcome! The only mistake I made was leaving to do some sightseeing... I will definitely be back and will stay put to enjoy the peacefulness of this area. Don't question it - just book it and go! Your wellbeing will thank you :)

  • Just back from a weekend in the Hazel Pod. It was really lovely, the pods are newly opened so everything is new and looks great. The bed is really comfy, the shower is perfect, we even had a breakfast pack, wine and chocolate waiting for us when we arrived. The hot tub is the best part though, so relaxing. Will definitely be back in the future. Would highly recommend Long Acres Alpaca trekking also it's about a 20 minute drive away and a great way to spend a few hours! Thanks for a great stay Carol and Patrick.
