  • Such a wonderful guest experience at Jerry and Alice's Kona Magic Sands place...we did not want our stay to end! Everything you need for a wonderful vacation is included - from a comfortable bed, all kitchen utensils and appliances, very nice linens and towels and anything you would need for a day at the beach. It is hard to describe the views and sounds of the ocean...there were days we just opened the lanai and spent most of the day enjoying the scenery (and serenity). And after a day of touring, it was so nice to come back and just enjoy the ocean, pool and making dinner in their well-equipped kitchen. We would actually look forward to returning each afternoon/evening to enjoy their place and the atmosphere. Jerry and Alice are such sincere and caring hosts... they truly want guests to enjoy their experience. There were tropical fresh flowers waiting for us as well as bananas from their own tree! We were sad when our stay ended and hope to be guests again! A wonderful, fabulous experience! Mahalo Jerry and Alice for sharing your paradise with us!

  • Absolutely amazing views and place. We saw whales, dolphins, fish, and turtles all from our condo! Jerry and Alice were some of the nicest people Ive ever met, very accomodating and definitely went above and beyond. We are definitely hoping to come back and stay here again.

    Kelsey2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • It was very relaxing to hear the constant splashing of the waves, which sent us to sleep immediately! The Magic Sands restaurant was excellent, convenient and fun. Great to have an allocated parking space.

    Sharon2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Jerry & Alice are the kind of hosts that you remember for years, their kindness and warm communication, they feel like friends rather than hosts. We will never forget the roar of the waves, the breath taking sunsets and the whales and dolphins daily transiting out front. 🐳🌊 🌅

    Darrell2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Jerry and Alice's condo. The views were magnificent - a perfect place to take in an ocean sunset. Was nice to be able to lie in bed and hear the sound of the waves. The location was great too, right next to a nice beach and an easy drive to any other Kona destination. Jerry and Alice were great hosts and provided all the info we needed for our trip along with plenty of suggestions for places to eat and things to do. We would love to stay at their place again.

    David2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jerry and Alice are wonderful hosts and their condo is amazing. I would definitely come back here.

  • Right next to Magic Sands Beach. Perfect location. We loved hearing the waves lap up on the shore each night. Perfect sea breeze blows into the apartment each day. Jerry and Alice were kind and easy to interact with. Highly recommend!

  • Charming cottage that is in a great location with just a short walk to Manini beach! My wife and I enjoyed our stay. Ron and Karen are very careful to respect your privacy, but are around if you have questions or want a brief chat. They have many very good recommendations for things to do on the island that helped to make our stay special. There are numerous details in this cottage that have history and meaning. Ask Ron about some of the components, they come with a good story!

    Lonzo2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is so cute and charming to stay in. Karen and her husband were amazing hosts. As we got in, Karen showed us around to the beach and gave us insights of the area. Snorkeling at the beach was amazing. Lots of bright-colored fish by the reef. We had a very relaxing stay and enjoyed the decor of the cottage.

    Samantha2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, great cottage, great hosts. A real gem. Ideal for snorkelling, kayaking, enjoying the sea shore and beautiful sunsets. Encounter with dolphins almost guaranteed.

    Felix2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Bali Cottage is a rustic, comfy space and hosts Karen and Ron are exceptional. They will bend over backwards to make sure guests are comfortable; the location is awesome, shady, and a 5 minute walk to Manini Beach. Everything you need is available in the cottage: coolers, beach towels, boogie boards, and toiletries just in case you forget yours! Go to sleep with the gentle sound of the surf... and wake up with the sun shining in your outdoor shower!

    Robin2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Stay here! It’s definitely more of a “glamping” vibe but so amazing! We loved waking up to the sounds of the ocean and wildlife. Very friendly hosts! The snorkel gear was awesome to have when we hiked to Captain Cook!

    Amanda2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • One of the most unique and memorable places I’ve ever stayed. Karen and Ron were very friendly hosts, who made sure we felt right at home.

    Bob2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • There are not enough words to say how wonderful the Bali Cottage and Karen are. The space is AMAZING, the only negative thing I can think of is now all other Airbnb’s or even hotels or even my own home will all fall short of the magic that is the Bali Cottage. Karen is super communicative and welcoming and even walked me down to the beach when I got there, which btw is also amazing and charming. Literally could write a book on how much I loved my stay. Thank you again Karen for sharing your space with the world!

    Leah2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • A magical place! It has so much atmosphere and quirky touches. Kitchen had everything we needed and we spent a lot of our time on the porch. Didn’t miss the lack of air conditioning for our visit in November. We really settled in and enjoyed our 3 days immensely. You’re not just staying at a place, you’re really being hosted.

  • The beauty of the room and the entire estate is just like other evaluations. It is very beautiful and unimaginable. I hope that I can have such a home in the urban jungle. I think the owner is a very easy-going lady who is very considerate, but unfortunately my English is so bad that I ca n’t talk too much with her. I have to mention her baking skills here, and I will definitely not lose the other chef masters. Every morning, I eat the owner's cakes, cookies, and coffee, and with the excellent manor landscape, it really makes people reluctant to leave! !! !! Unfortunately, we were too focused on other attractions in those days. Quietly lying on the couch in the manor, listening to the songbirds and watching the sunset, maybe it will make people who come on vacation more relaxed. By the way, I would like to especially thank the roosters in the manor, and thank them for waking me up on time one hour or two hours before the alarm clock, and never let me oversleep. I think if there is grilled chicken, then there will be more than 5 stars Haha

  • I booked a room w/ a shared bath at Rhonda's place, and it was the perfect place to relax and get good sleep in the first days of my vacation. Besides the many amenities like a pool and beach gear, I appreciated the level of cleanliness and fresh towels. Rhonda also offered a guidebook library for guests, as well as daily treats. It was very easy to find, and a very comfortable place to stay on the Big Island.

    Christine2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great location in Captain Cook. The pool was perfectly warm so I was able to swim even in the rain. There are a lot of upfront rules which was intimidating but they are really easy to follow if you are courteous and considerate. Would stay again!

    Mary Alaina2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Rhonda is the best there is for a bnb. Warm, informative, comfortable. unlike some Airbnb listings, her space is NOT oversold. You relax the moment you get there. This is my second time staying with her a year apart and it is just as good. My only regret is not staying longer!

    Theresa2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Rhonda's place is a little paradise in paradise (Captain Cook's bay is amazing). We especially appreciated Rhonda's hospitality, the comfort of her house, the view and the pool! We would definitively love to come back if we ever go back to Big Island again.

    Nancy2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Rhonda is a great hostess. Like she mentions it’s close to the main road so you will hear cars and she’s in the country so there will be roosters.

  • Location is great for coffee tastings...there are tons of awesome (many are free) coffee tours within a couple miles of her home. Her home has a beautiful ocean view seen by the huge window in the living room!

  • This airbnb is absolutely the best airbnb in the Big Island, The over view of the whole Kona and beach from this house will over your imagination. The host has given me many useful informations which helped me spend a better vacation on Big Island.

    Zheng2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the fantastic view and the "outdoor living" at Steve's place! So much that it made it hard to leave there to do our planned vacation activities. The unit was very clean, comfortable and had plenty of storage. Communication with Steve was quick and easy. Highly recommend this Airbnb!

    Betty2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • The location of this home is amazing! It is off the main road, and it is so quiet and peaceful up here. The hosts have some stuff available to use (snorkel, beach chairs, etc), which we were very thankful for. Unit is super clean, and I loved the giant shower. The view is the best- it was wonderful to wake up to it in the mornings. I loved it!

    Lisa2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Steve was a wonderful host and we enjoyed our stay very much. Very peaceful setting and gorgeous views.

    Sarah2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed for 5 nights and definitely stay here again!

    Julie2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot rave enough about this place. It’s amazing and the views are unbelievable. You’re gonna want to stop to the grocery store on your way up, because once you’re here you won’t want to leave. Sleeping with a fan and the screen door open was just unbelievable. Perfect temperature. And breathtaking views.

    Chelsea2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Positively beautiful. A really unique find. Watching the sunset by the pool felt like it added years to my life.

    Corey2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was a fun place to stay. Typically Hawaiian with an outdoor kitchen and total access to the outside. The shower was huge and there were two sinks and plenty of room. There was a walk-in closet with ample shelves and hanger space. The panoramic view was spectacular up about 1500 ft elevation. You can see the old airport on the right to the Sheraton hotel on the left and the entire Pacific Ocean looking west. The infinity pool is a nice touch. Sunset and dinner on the Lanai were something to look forward to each day. The only criticism we would have was a lack of hot water in the kitchen area to wash dishes. Everything else was great.

  • Great little space, centrally located in Kona. Marley is so friendly, and so are Jeff and the rest of his family

    Timothy2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to honeymoon. Jeff even brought us fresh fruit. Marley is also awesome.

    Adam2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • The location of Jeff’s place was perfect for my trip. I enjoyed the cool nights and lovely view. The bed is quite comfortable and being a tall person I really appreciated the high shower head height. The space is clean, parking in a covered garage was a plus, and being greeted by Marley, their dog, in the mornings for belly rubs was sweet. I did not have need to interact with Jeff much but he was always around so I knew if I needed anything I could easily reach him. As a solo traveler I felt safe at Jeff’s place.

    Nicole2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful stay for the price. Every detail was taken care of, and it is clean as can be! Jeff was a perfect host who was very responsive and attentive during our stay! The property is lovely and we slept very well. It’s super nice to stay out of town for a couple reasons: 1. The crowds and extreme congestion don’t exist at Jeff’s place. 2. The cooler temperatures make for very comfortable sleeping. No complaints 👍🏼

    Laurie Medeiros2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff is very kind and generous. The fruits available are seasonal. We were fortunate to have fresh picked papayas, avocados, guavas, dragonfruit, and bananas. As well as fresh eggs from the chickens. We loved his dog Marley and hugged him everyday. The location had an incredible view and wonderful feel. We will definitely return.

    Juancarlos2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. No improvements necessary.

    Sarah2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff’s place was great and he was an awesome host. He shared some “praying hands” bananas and had ample beach supplies on hand. The place is just hit enough for 2 people for a few nights as we explored Kona and the surroundings. We’d definitely stay here again.

    Adam2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff's place was amazing. The view from the house is beautiful and Jeff allowed us to walk basically all around the property. He had chickens and pigs on the property, as well as a cute lab named Marley! We had the best time playing with Marley when we were around. The studio itself was very clean and well kept. Perfect amount of space for two of us and in a great location. The main city/beach area was only 15 minutes or so away, which made it easy for us to come back during the day if we wanted to. Overall, great place to stay.

Aloha and Mahalo for visiting my listing. "Pl.note that I don't have included the Transient /Ge tax ( 14.50%) in my price since it would reflect in the fee you pay to airbnb. I will collect it upon arrival." This place is nesteld on the slope of Hualalei mountain inmidst of coffee farms, from this cooler elevation (1200ft.) it is only 15 min./7 miles to Kailua -Kona, the nearest Beaches and Supermarket.
This downstair apartment is fully private with private entrance, bedroom has a queen bed, bathroom with bathtub/shower, walk-in closet. Lanai ( Porch) with view. Kitchenette has a fridge, microwave, toaster oven, electric skillet and electric pot, toaster, coffee maker, electric water kettle, rice cocker and a blender. Linen, towels and beach towels are provided. Free wireless internet, use of BBQ, car port. At 1200 elevation it is nice to come home from a day of activities at the beach to a cooler climate and quiet neighborhood to relax and watch the sunset from the lanai with view.
It is located in the midst of the famous Kona Coffee region, just 1 min. north from old charming Holualoa town with many Art Gallerys, a grocerie store, post office, coffee shop, and a wonderful outdoor restaurante (slow food). In just 12 min. ( or 7miles) you are in Kailua Kona town or at the nearest beaches.
  • The apartment is perfect! It is very well equipped, clean and offers a very nice view to watch sunsets. We enjoyed the stay very much and can just recommend it!

    Melina2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • A quiet space a little away from Holualoa Town, a large site with lots of fruit trees and trees. There is a two-story house in that space. The second floor is the host house and the first floor is the guest house. There are many similar homes around the property, in a quiet, relaxed and lovely area away from the hustle and bustle. Located at the foot of Mount Faralai and away from the sea, it is not too hot and cool. It's a bit cool in the morning and evening, so it's a good idea to have long sleeves. Rooms are clean and well cleaned. Cooking utensils are available, and there are rice cookers, microwave ovens, ovens, electric pots, hot plates, toasters, coffee makers, etc., so you can cook yourself without any problems. Since there is also a coffee mill, you can grind the purchased Kona coffee beans and drink it immediately. There is also a cartridge type water purifier, so there is no need to buy water. In addition, there are a lot of beach gear, and beach chairs, umbrellas, cooler boxes, snorkels, cool bottles, etc. were handy. The view from Lanai is a lot of trees underneath, the town of Kailua-Kona and the vast sea far away. Every day I spent watching beautiful sunsets. The lanai is large, so you can eat at the table or relax on the sofa. Rent-a-car is essential, but it is about 15 to 20 minutes drive to Kailua Kona, Keauhou shopping center and beach. Every day I went to KTA, Safeway, Target, Walmart and Kahaluu Beach. Check-in and check-out were easy, and the host lived on the second floor, so there was no need to receive or hand over the keys, just putting the keys on the table. The host woman is very kind and will answer me politely if I have anything, and I'm on the second floor so I can go to listen immediately. It keeps your private well, so you will rarely meet and help you only when you need it. I think it is the best location to spend your time on the Big Island slowly and comfortably, but I think it is a good distance for those who are actively moving to Hilo, Volcano, Mauna Kea, North Kona and many beaches, I went many times during my stay. Especially in the middle of the Kona coffee cultivation area, you can easily go around the coffee plantation everywhere. I stayed for about 3 weeks, but anyway, I found the location, environment, room and host to be satisfactory.

    Hiroshi2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Karoline and her dog Hano are lovely hosts and her place was just perfect for our stay on the big island! Karoline has a beautiful house and guest apartment. Everything was sparkling clean and decorated in a cozy hawaiian style. We cooked a lot and were genuinely surprised by how good the kitchen devices (mixer, pans etc.) are! The whole apartment is very well thought through and Karoline goes above and beyond to ensure that her guests enjoy their stay. She even provided us with fresh fruits from her own garden! She also makes her own soapes and pays special attention to the environment and holding a sustainable houshold. Hano is the cutest, a very friendly, goofy and even a little shy doggo that one cannot help but love. We also loved the view from the apartment. One can see the ocean and watch the most amazing sunsets whilest sipping on a cold Big Wave or Longboard. So, if you get the chance stay here and enjoy this beautiful island from the very best airbnb.

  • Spectacularly natural, lush surroundings.. beautiful garden, flowers fruit and coffee. A delightful place to stay where everything is thoughtfully provided for you.

  • Karoline’s place was warm and cozy as described. It has a neat view of the ocean, and the property itself is surrounded by lush trees. The house was stocked with amazing coffee beans, which my husband really enjoyed having. Karoline’s dog, Hano, was a cool hang out in the mornings. The place is conveniently located to Kona and other beaches (about 15-20mins drive). Highly recommend it.

  • Karolines house is very charming and well kept in every detail, and with a beautiful view over the garden and to the ocean. Peaceful area and close to a nice little village.

  • Clement is very dedicated to this activity, is has a good knowledge about greek history and culture, good sense of humour, and overall we had a very good walking and seeing experience grace to him. He even gives us some valuable tips by email on what we can do in Athens, taking from his personal time. We really appreciate his tour and recommend it. Thank you, Clement!

  • My husband and I enjoyed our stay here immensely! The cottage, surrounding grounds, and views of the bay were simply breathtaking. Peter was an amazing and gracious host—thank you again for the delicious homegrown bananas, lemons, limes, and mango! We recommend this cottage without reservation and would definitely stay here again.

  • This Airbnb is a real gem. The view, location, and simple charm are the best things about this cottage. Just a short drive away you can be at some idyllic beaches and attractions. Or stay in and enjoy the breezes and seemingly endless view of the west side of the island. Peter is a great host and will share fresh fruits right from his orchard. You won’t be disappointed staying here.

  • Scucheng and William are amazing hosts that provide you with a cozy tiny home situated in a very natural environment. We enjoyed our stay on the ancient coffee farm a lot. For all those that are used to live in noisy cities: enjoy to go to bed and wake up with the sound of the rainforest.

    Michael2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Emma's place is very cute and stylish. It is a tiny home style with the bed loft up the ladder. The mesh windows work really well and give you a great view of the farm and the stars. It can be a little noisy at night from the farm animals but we enjoyed falling asleep to the sound of the frogs. There were tons of little touches such as complementary drinks and chips - it really makes you feel welcomed. Emma was very quick to communicate when I had questions about our stay. We loved being here for a night and would definitely return!

    Rohan2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location, beautiful little modern bungalow with super unique features! We loved the visibility of the stars at night and sunrise in morning👏🙌👌. Super airy with ceiling fan for air circulation. Our showers were a bit short d/t limited hot water, other than that no biggie❤️. They had snorkeling gear, boogie boards, and a hammock for us to have a perfect day at e beach! All the amenities , fantastic communication, and wonderful hospitality.

    Kari2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay! Beautiful, scenic, so many good things to stay. The mini house is really neat and I love that all the windows are screen, I hope to be back again in the future!

    Jourdan2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was our favorite AirBnb we have ever stayed at! The cabin was amazing and it was so fun to sleep in the loft with such an amazing view. Shucheng provided amazing little touches. We loved that there were beach chairs, an umbrella, and towels available for us to use for our beach days. Don’t miss this place if it’s available!

    Rachel2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place is magical! Every detail of the cabin is exquisite, and even though it’s a tiny home, it feels very spacious. It was such a treat to fall asleep to the sounds of the birds, sleep up in the sky and look out over the water while drinking my coffee in the morning. The complimentary beers, coffee and candy were a great touch too! Can’t wait for my next chance to stay here!!

    Cara2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Best. Stay. Ever. William and Shucheng built their stylish open air cabin on their beautiful farm and I could not ask for a better stay for my last night on the big island. From the most comfortable bed I've experienced at an airbnb, I watched the sun set over the ocean and woke up to the sounds of an awakening farm. So so great!!

    Tiffany2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute place. Gets a 5 star from me but a few touches would have been better. Doesn’t have a microwave so nothing to heat food. Doesnt have wifi, or atleast we didn’t have any information on it. That was a little tough, my business in through my phone no network and no wifi made a but hard. Except that the place is super cute and waking up to nature sounds in surreal. Get a little cold but thats another excuse to stay closer to ur partner in a blanket.

  • Melinda is such a nice lady. She allowed us to change the reservation so we can flight back home early due to the outbreak of COVID-19. She responded quickly when messaged her. My son loved the board games and Wii games in the live room too. Location is a bit hard to find as the address shared by two buildings with A and B difference and google map is not accurate, so we had to ask around to find it. but the view is great and the avocado fell from tree is huge. :-) Would love to stay longer if possible. Thanks to host us.

    Jenny2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect place for us. Good location for all trips, very good facilities, everything was there. The road to the house is a bit steep with a big car. We felt very comfortable. A great veranda with a wonderful view. Mahalo

    Katrin2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice location. Far from the big tourist spots, without being too far either. The location is great, in nature. Melinda was welcoming and kind. Overall the experience is good. The cleaning is done, but the walls are dirty and the couches dusty and with cat hair. 2 cats live in the house downstairs; but goes upstairs (part which is rented airbnb) and he is able to open the door. I think some visitors let him in. My allergies manifested quite a bit. But hey, I would come back to this place without asking myself the question; we liked a lot. :) Really cheap for what it is!

  • Breathtaking beautiful view of the valley and ocean from the wraparound porch. Kitchen has everything needed for fixing a quick meal. The sink, as mentioned previously, has been well used but functional. 2 nice bedrooms with storage. Many amenities to bath area. Owner lives downstairs and will be readily accessible if needed. Enjoyed our stay

  • Spacious place set up in the mountains. Quiet at night with just some nature sounds. Very peaceful.

    Josh2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay here. It was clean, quiet and comfortable. The lanai was a wonderful place for morning tea or sunset relaxing. The beds were very comfortable. It was a great base for jumping off into our adventures.

    Denise2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Really beautiful view! Spacious home. We loved having access to a full kitchen and made use of the stove, rice cooker, and coffee maker. Not as much wiildlife ambiance as other places on the island, but at night we did hear the occasional coqui or falling avocado. Driveway is a little tricky to get out of (on a steep hill, in the bend of a winding road). Would stay here again!

  • Our stay at Sandy‘s cottage was beyond perfect. It was super beautiful, clean and we had everything we needed. Sandy‘s property is such a little paradise and the view of the ocean with the nicest sunrises ever seen, was a pleasant way to round off the day :) Sandy as a host is super nice and it‘s not possible to NOT like her. Because of her great hospitality and her useful tips for Big Island we felt very welcome. Thank you so much! Mahalo, Annabelle & Manuela

Sandy was an excellent host - quick to reply to any of our questions and accessible for anything during our stay. The cottage itself was cute, very clean, and stocked with anything you need for a trip! Highly recommend staying here!

  • We loved Sandy's place and wish we could have stayed longer. Captain Cook is a great jumping off point for the West side of the Big Island, this place is conveniently located about 2 miles from the Captain Cook snorkeling trail. Plumeria Cottage is located next to Sandy's main home but still felt private. It has wonderful views of the ocean and sunset. The place was spotless and tastefully decorated. The washer and dryer proved to be very helpful as well. Sandy provides beach towels, chairs, boogie boards, and snorkeling gear. Don't miss out on this wonderful spot!

  • The cottage is beautiful and in a quiet location with an amazing view of the ocean. We enjoyed the sunsets from the lanai. Sandy & Bruce take pride in their cottage. It's so clean and they include a lot of special touches to make your stay comfortable. Sandy was a gracious host and gave us helpful island tips. If you are looking to get away from the hustle of town this is your place. It's truly a piece of paradise!

  • This is a very sweet little cottage In a lush tropical setting with a lovely view of the ocean. The decor is very tasteful with thoughtful touches everywhere. The linens and towels were good quality and the place was clean as a whistle. Sandy and Bruce were very friendly, attentive hosts and made us feel very welcome. • Great location, beautiful garden, everything you need

    Ursula2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place! Best of all is the location, a short walk to a beach park, which we made several times to see the sunset, and kayak rentals, which we did once. And then it's a very short drive to great snorkeling, which we also enjoyed using snorkeling equipment that Heidi happily gave us so we didn't have to rent any. The place itself was nearly as lovely as the location. Very quiet on a spacious property with a lawn set against the hills and surrounded by open space. Our unit (the downstairs rooms below Heidi's upstairs space) was also spacious. Quite the opposite of a spot in noisy Kailua-Kona. Finally, there's Heidi herself. She was there whenever we had questions. We enjoyed her cat and (friendly small) dog, too. When we ventured out, we enjoyed an area that has not yet succumbed to overtourism with many small and mid-sized towns nearby where we enjoyed locals-oriented restaurants and took an excellent (and free) coffee farm tour. We could not have asked for a better experience. Thanks, Heidi!!

    Bob2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • About a block and a half to the water and a great place to have your morning tea/ coffee. One morning Heidi came by and said the dolphins are out and I went to the water and sure enough was able to see spinning dolphins. A magical place and loved walking distance to Manini Beach Park.

    Lori2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi is such a wonderful host—our entire experience was Airbnb at its BEST. Comfortable, spotless, bright, airy rooms with beautiful touches, excellent kitchen facilities, and very peaceful surroundings. Heidi and her son Jack live upstairs but are so mindful of guests that you don’t hear them, and it was a joy interacting with them. By the way, if you’re looking for more space, she also has a 4-person whole-house rental on the property.

    Jon2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi's place is in a great location and she provides a very relaxing and welcoming space. We were very comfortable there and enjoyed our interactions with her. We look forward to a future visit.

This affordable private studio is in back of house shaded under upstairs overhang with indirect sunlight which keeps cooler on hot days! Private entrance with kitchenette, private bathroom with big shower for 2.
  • A great place to stay while in Kona. Very secluded with a really cool driveway. If bugs, spiders, and all those creepy crawlies scare you, you may be nervous walking into the room. There are a few big webs and decent sized spiders near the stair case, but hey it’s Hawai’i what do you expect? Chris and Carolyn are very nice and offer great hospitality. Feels like you’re surrounded by great friends while on your stay. The room is very private and offers all one could need while on a trip to the island. It is actually a lot bigger than expected. Would 100% recommend this place to anyone staying in this location.

  • A home away from home..peaceful sleeping...off the beaten path, but an easy drive to Kailua Kona beaches.

    Elizabeth2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • The place was great. Just what we were expecting. Private, safe and secluded. We added two nights at the beginning of a planned trip and spent the days exploring the Kealeakua Bay/Captain Cook Bay Area. Did the monument hike (take lots of water, lots). Carolyn was great. Met us when we arrived and gave us the lay of the land. (It was our second trip to the Big Island, so we knew the basics). Meets expectations. Highly recommended. Thank you for sharing your home with us. Mahalo. Ethan and Rebecca

  • This little apartment had everything we needed. We like to cook at home, and the kitchen had all the things necessary for us to make all our meals. The shower was very nice, but just give the water a second to heat up and you’re golden. We used the little grill outside to cook some salmon from the farmer market and it was great! The bed is fairly firm which we weren’t used to, but it was spacious. After exploring all day we spent our evenings relaxing in the little gazebo in the front yard. It was a lovely place and Chris and Carolyn were very nice to chat with.

    Sam2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great studio! This was a really pretty little place and Chris and Carolyn are super nice.

    Drew2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was an ideal experience for us as a couple and we would absolutely stay again. It is a few frills studio with a great kitchenette and a clean bathroom. It is located in a beautiful quiet secluded place surrounded by greenery. We loved the proximity to stores and the beach as well as being a bit out of the way. It’s a very different experience than going to one of the big resorts and honestly, I prefer this. You have easy access to your vehicle and close access to a number of beautiful coastal spots. There is no TV which wasn’t a problem in this era of devices, but there was great WiFi. I would absolutely stay here again and had a wonderful time.

Welcome to our 1-acre bohemian chic style cottage with Organic Farm. You will experience true Hawaiian Farm living. Located in 2200 ft misty rainforest, minus ion, serene, lush vegetation parts of Hawaii. Just below the cottage is wild organic farm includes coconut, cacao, coffee, banana, mulberry, tangerine, lychee, green tea, ohia, breadfruits and many many more. Overlooking with panoramic Ocean view throughout sunset from our balcony is stunning!
La Maison Blanche is a humble cottage style home, almost everything custom build, hand made in a unique way. it is a coffee shack that we completely renovated according to our taste but the house structure is old and has wears and tears. We have a master bedroom with beautiful lash green view, and we also have a large size lanai that you can receive gorgeous sunset. Very importantly, our place is not in the tight residential zone with resort area, it is much more open green and lush. I think it's perfect for people who are interested in experience "real hawaii farm life style in the Mountain side". We only like to accept guests who understand the beauty of nature surrounding living, which means who are ok with gecko, ants, spiders, birds, and other such all beautiful living creatures welcoming to you, in and out. *I just want to mentioned, we had various guests who gets really bother by insects and geckos coming to our home. We chose not to spray chemical to kill them like hotel do, so please be aware. The upper space has 2 bedroom include 1 queen bed, living room, very simple humble kitchen, bathroom, and large balcony overlooking the panoramic lush jungle view with sunset! Please note as some of our review had mentioned, our home is pretty open space as we need airflow as much as possible meaning that most of the celling are open wich makes it not too private for noises. i think it is perfect for family with childrens. but for some couples maybe feel no privacy. Its all depends on people's needs but i thought to mention this. If you need to ask me any question, i am happy to answer anything.

  • Miho's home is a great find. It is a traditional plantation home of the beaten track and a true sanctuary. Serene and peaceful, it is the perfect retreat.

  • Miho was a lovely host with a beautiful home. The personal touches in the space were absolutely stunning and nothing could beat watching the sunset from the lanai. We enjoyed the fruit picked from their farm and all the suggested beaches and restaurants tips. Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer! Highly recommend this Airbnb and can’t wait to be back!

  • A beautiful bright space surrounded by farms, fruit, and animals. We loved our stay and the location. Close to a supermarket, farmer's market (Sundays), and great snorkeling beaches. I'm already dreaming of another trip.

  • La Maison Blanche provided our family with a comfortable immersion in local living. We loved watching the sunset on the lanai every night and the kids loved exploring the property and learning about all the fruit trees! The accommodations are extremely comfortable, stylish and simple - offering everything you need. Minho’s thoughtful details, local guidebooks, welcoming basket of fruit and lovely household natural products cultivate appreciation for all things Hawaii. Our thanks for some lovely memories! If you are looking for a peaceful getaway, surrounded by nature in a simple elegant paradise - this is your place! We will definitely be back!

I have an adorable two bedroom one and a half bath. It's a very relaxing, comfortable space at 1400 ft elevation. Perfect place for take off to hiking/snorkeling. Come and enjoy the cool breezes and beauty of this 5 acre coffee farm. From the deck you can see beautiful Hawaiian sunsets nightly, and ocean views during the day. You have Kona coffee trees along with local avocado/apple banana and mango trees a plenty. Nice tropical breezes flow through the entire apartment. Full kitchen etc..
If your looking for Old Hawaii...undisturbed natural beauty.....Oceanview’s everywhere....Look no further. This unit sits on a 5 acre coffee farm.. From the Covered deck you can see beautiful Hawaiian sunsets nightly, ocean views during the day or a morning cup coffee.. You have Kona coffee trees along with local avocado/apple banana, citrus and mango trees on property to see. Nice tropical breezes flow through the entire apartment. The larger bedroom is a comfortable size, with a comfy bed and natural light, beautiful hand painted/stenciled floor that you can walk right out of the bedroom onto the deck. The second bedroom is supplied with everything you need for a peaceful night sleep. Lovely ocean views from the window. Both beds are new and comfortable. You have a kitchen to putter in if you feel like cooking. French press is available along with coffee pot and kettle.. There are delicious local food restaurants nearby. Tv for streaming provided. Theres a comfortable sofa to sit on, or take a nap. There is a beautiful modern bathroom completed with a new floor, sink and toilet, fresh paint to boot that comes with this unit as you can see in the pictures. It is detached from the unit and is located across the yard a few steps. There is half bath in the breezeway with a sink and chemical toilet for your convenience...This is for those who don't want to get their toes wet from one of our beautiful tropical rains by walking across the yard. We of corse promote the midnight view of the magnificent sky's stars. This unit, on this coffee farm used to be a Hoshidana which is where storage of coffee beans and essentials were stored. The roof is on rollers to accommodate drying coffee beans during the day. However; that function for this roof not utilized for some time. You would never believe that twenty some years ago this unit was only a dirt floor !!! As you see the floor is no longer dirt as it had been in the old days. Also the roof is no longer used for drying coffee. This unit is a very fresh, unique tropical comfortable space. All linens are lined dry by our warm tropical breezes. Full disclosure: this is a seasonal working coffee farm, during the season there are coffee pickers on the farm. We have the occasional feral rooster stragglers (if baxter doesn't chase them away) who don't care what time of day or night they talk. We also have coqui frogs on the property, they always have an opinion, especially during rainy season. During dry season they lay dormant and pretty speechless. Come and enjoy a slice of Old Hawaii in Hawaii at Beanies Hale.... The road into my property is an agricultural one lane road. Gravel and dirt for the most part. I highly recommend no low rider rental cars. Be sure there is a decent clearance. During rainy season, the road, depending on the rain can get muddy so you need this clearance to pass. its rare, but can happen. Beanies Hale is tucked into a beautiful piece of paradise unique to the big island off the beaten path. There are many historical places to visit close by. To name a few. KEALAKEKUA BAY CAPTAIN COOK MONUMENT MANINI BEACH CITY OF REFUGE PAINTED CHURCH HOOKENA BEACH PARK SNORKEL WITH MANTAS You can snorkel at most of these places. These are just a few spots. We provide literature in the home for great snorkeling and hiking. Also many delicious food spots to grind during your stay from vegan, local foods, fresh fish plates, sashimi and sushi. COME, and experience this yourself. We'd love to share this unique experience and property with you, if your game..Were here!!! Aloha Pets may be welcomed only with an invitation from host prior to any booking. Refer to “Other things to note” of my requirements please. I will be leaving on a humanitarian trip to Thailand October 30 th- November 16. I always try to respond to my guests within an hour of bookings and inquiries. I may not be able to do this while away. I apologize in advance. But will be in touch on my first opportunity. Mahalo for understanding. Respectfully, Beanie.
Friendly, coffee farm neighborhood. Road into property is an agriculture unpaved Road. Pitted and potted. Your car must have a decent clearance for your comfort driving on it. You do not need a four wheel drive. No sports car...
  • The stay at Brendas place was great. Conveniently located, great food close by and great views. Non intrusive host with a very comfy place. She provided a very stress free experience while in the midst of the coronavirus craze.

    Kevin2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Beanies Hale was a lovely place to stay. Very quiet and peaceful (apart from the frogs at night lol) Brenda was a great host and the place was sparkling clean. The driveway was not paved and quiet rough so watch out if you have a low car like we did otherwise all good.

    Penny2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean & gorgeous views!

    Virginia2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda's place is unique and wonderful! There was lots of space for the two of us and everything we needed as far as kitchen and other commodities. The larger bedroom is gorgeous with its painted floor and many windows -- so nice it was hard to get out of bed in the morning and perfectly cool and lovely for afternoon napping! The neighborhood is quiet except for the sounds of nature, of which there is plenty. The walk to the bathroom was easy to get used to, and gives you an excuse to look at the starry sky in the middle of the night. The sweet town of Kealakekua is close enough to walk to if you're feeling ambitious. Do take seriously Brenda's warning about the road in to her place -- it is bumpy to the extreme. Brenda is fun and very generous, bringing us fruit and picking some of the enormous avocados that grow on her property -- as big as a butternut squash and incredibly delicious. Staying here is a great way to experience Hawaii -- we highly recommend it.

    Maia2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Beanies Hale for so many reasons. For us, the location was great (tropical surroundings, close to the cute town of Kealakekua, close to several snorkelling spots, both far enough and close enough to Kona) and the house was plenty comfortable (good sized kitchen, nice beds). But more than that we just really liked being there: Brenda and neighbour Chris made us feel like old friends from day one; we picked oranges for fresh juice in the morning and avocados for guac in the afternoon; we watched the sunset with the amazing view of the ocean and were immersed in stars from twilight to dawn. We were sad to leave. Add to all that the fact that it's a really inexpensive option and there's no doubt this place is a winner: affordable, comfortable, unique and memorable.

    Graham And Maude2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda’s farmhouse is super cute! We loved the area (there are some great local restaurants nearby) and she had lots of towels and snorkelling gear for all of our adventures

  • Living off the grid in a cute space - everything you need! We had a cloudy night so couldn’t see the stars but nonetheless had an enjoyable stay. Bed was super comfortable and Bathroom was smartly designed!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The dome had lots of nice touches and the check in process was very easy. Rose communicated quickly and allowed us to check in a bit earlier. We enjoyed spending time off the beaten track, but did not feel like we were roughing it. It gets really dark at night, so having an extra flashlight would be helpful.

Aloha, we're offering the top floor, which is the "Penthouse level" of our 5,000 sq. ft. Custom beach home with "no other guests" on the entire property starting at an incredible $160.00 per night! Yes, as guests, you will be the "Only" folks on the entire property during your stay! This amazing home, with total privacy, is an incredible experience that you and yours won't find anywhere else on the island for this incredible price. The Penthouse is over 2,000 sq. ft., and comfortably sleeps 5.
For all of you who are “On-the-fence” about where to stay in Hawaii, here are some helpful insights to consider... When it comes to airfare, car rentals, gas and dining... Everyone who ventures to Hawaii will pretty much pay the same "fixed prices" to visit paradise. The real "Difference Maker" on the trip is your lodging... Visitors, without thinking about it, spend about 1/3 of the trip where they lodge. You sleep there, shower there, lounge there, and prepare for daily adventures as well. It really is the "Home Base" for the trip! Keeping this in mind, your choice for lodging should be a place where you and yours really want to call home :) That's where our property, Living Aloha, makes a difference. For the value, we offer very clean and private, drop dead gorgeous accommodations that focus on comfort, relaxation, and a feeling of "Home" while enjoying your stay here in Hawaii. We invite you to view all of our Gorgeous photos and read our great reviews, The home is absolutely Amazing!! You and yours will Love it!!!!! Aloha and All the Best... Mik'a and Lisa (The Happy Owners:)
Beautiful beach village south of Kona. Full of Plumeria trees on every street with Million dollar views. Super quiet and peaceful.
  • Beautiful property with an amazing view. The home was impeccably clean and had everything we needed. We appreciated the last minute reservation availability and great communication from the host. We would definitely stay here again on a future visit to the Big Island.

    Kelli2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful setting to enjoy amazing views and the sounds of nature and out of town enough to feel what the island is really about. Would easily stay here again.

    Ben2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Get lulled to sleep by the lullaby of the ocean . Wake up gently as nature’s music is the only sound you’ll hear.

    Marti2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Another amazing stay at Mik'a and Lisa's place. There is nothing quite like the view from their lanai. It is breathtaking. Lovely open floor plan for the kitchen and living room that allowed us to cook for a read and play boardgames on the rainy days. We had a great time and would stay again in a heartbeat!

    Marie2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • A stunning home in a stunning location. We were two couples and had plenty of private space in the bedrooms as well as shared space in the living room and the wraparound deck. The kitchen is well-stocked and there is a wide assortment of beach gear to borrow (chairs, umbrellas, snorkeling masks/fins). As others have noted, the location is fairly remote so plan ahead for your shopping. We recommend the Ke'ei Cafe for dinner!

    Alexandra2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • This home exceeded any and all expectations I had before arriving. The pictures don’t do it justice! It’s simply spectacular. The lanai and inside of home were spotless but also had a cozy vibe that made us feel right at home. It came with EVERYTHING you could ever need with beach supplies, two grills, coolers, beach towels, and a fully stocked kitchen. The views are breathtaking and we enjoyed sitting on the lanai in the evening watching the sunset. It was extremely quiet and peaceful with only the sound of the ocean to put you to sleep :) We loved that it was located near beaches and fruit stands but not so far from town if you wanted to make the drive. Mik’A and Lisa thought of everything you would need along with thoughtful touches. We are already planning our next trip to Kona and hope to come back to this lovely home. It was hard to leave. This is a must stay! Emily and Ohana

  • I went for a personal retreat at Mika and Lisa's place. The place was immaculate, with high end touches everywhere (beddings, furniture, and general atmosphere of the place). For those who wish to be in or around the town of Captain Cook should know that the place is further south. Once there though, the setting on the hill, the views, and the place in general makes me want to return. Fantastic! Thank you Mika and Lisa.

NANAINA COTTAGE. JUNGLE LOVERS DREAM AWAY FROM THE REST OF THE WORLD This is the ultimate romantic getaway for two with a million-dollar-view of the South Kona coast. It is perched on a rock cropping surrounded by mango trees. A one-minute walk along a jungle path leads you to this secluded setting.
There is a covered lanai (deck), and a few steps down a large open sun deck, with an additional simple bedroom if you prefer not to sleep in the loft (with a view). The cottage comes with a full kitchen (no dishwasher) and a washing machine. Be aware of mangos falling on the roof during season. Although we are within minutes from shopping, sight seeing & Beaches, getting to our secluded home can be an adventure. We are tucked away in a jungle/rainforest type setting and a 4 wheel drive vehicle is strongly suggested.
We are literally minutes away from Kealakekua Bay the location that captain James cook first set foot on these beautiful Islands. Once a thriving fishing village Kealakekua bay now boasts snorkeling, kayaking and swimming with Hawaiian spinner dolphins. Other points of interest in the area include Ke'ei beach, and Manini Beach. Not far from Kealakekua bay, you will want visit Pu'uhonua o honaunau or the city of refuge. This ancient place of refuge provided peace and safety during times of battle or unrest, rich in Hawaiian History and culture. located a stones throw away from two step beach. Although we are located on the same island that madame pele currently resides, we are about 2.5 hours from her wrath and not in any danger. Protected by Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea, Blessed by the Kona trade winds that keeps our air breathable and clean, it’s still the best place on the planet.
  • Very peaceful space - the best night of sleep I’ve had in a very long time due to the comfy bed and the delightful chorus of frogs in the evening and night, and birds in the morning.

    Kea2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • An excellent jungle paradise. Very secluded with a breathtaking view! Perfect location for exploring all that the big island has to offer. Make sure you get 4 wheel drive to make it up the drive way. The view from the top is worth it.

    Brianna2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We love this place. A perfect place in paradise. Just be aware if traveling with kids, the second BR is not directly connected. Have a 4WD to visit some of the secluded beach

    Bastien2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • If you want 1.) a fantastic view of 15 miles of Captain Cook coastline observed at 1000 ft above sea level, 2.) awesome sunsets, and 3.) a jungle setting comprised of numerous fruit trees on 2.5 acres of land, this is the property for you. We stayed for 14 days in February, 2020. The Nanaina Cottage is a private 2 story structure with only one other structure on the property. It’s a good idea to rent a 4 wheel drive vehicle as the driveway is rutted and is 0.2 miles long with a 200 ft. elevation gain. Hence the fantastic views. Pricilla and her support team were very responsive to any concerns. As the name says, it is a jungle lovers dream. We will be back.

    Mary2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic spot to rest and relax, with a complete treehouse feel and gardens to match! Great use of space, and great privacy with spectacular views.

    Sarah2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Place was amazing!

    Tommy2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • The property and space were beautiful and quite secluded. Waking up in the loft to the breathtaking views of the ocean was particularly special. The WiFi was good, with a Jeep the drive to the property was no problem. The hot water is a little finicky but with some fine tuning it's nothing to worry about. We loved our stay here, coffee on the deck was enjoyable every morning. Our favorite local spots was "The Coffee Shack" for breakfast and "Shaka Tacoz" for a quick bite. "Ola Brewing" in Kona was our favorite spot to try locally brewed beer, cider, and Seltzer's. A fun day activity on the island for animal lovers is to visit the humane society and take advantage of their field trips for shelter dogs program, where you can check out a pooch for the day and take them on an adventure (beach, trails, lunch ect...)!

    Chris2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • First off.... totally take her recommendations for a 4x4 vehicle! The place made us feel as if we were in a lush jungle! The sounds at night were so peaceful! The views were absolutely phenomenal. What a cool place to stay at in Hawaii!!

Gingerhill Farm Retreat is located on five acres of organic orchards and gardens nestled just above the famous Kealakekua Bay. We offer serenity and escape mere minutes away from local restaurants, cafes, and shops. Complete with bathroom, kitchen and outdoor shower, our Garden Cottage offers the independence of a cozy private dwelling situated just above the gardens. Relax on the deck in the evenings as you enjoy breathtaking images of the sun setting over the Pacific Ocean.
We chose this property because of its deep volcanic soil, ideal elevation, and breathtaking ocean views. Now that the gardens and orchards are mature, we love being able to harvest a huge variety of nutrient-dense food from our land. Visitors are always blown away by our Garden of Eden-style food forests. Take a stroll around the farm and say hi to the animals. Hike down to Kealakekua Bay and swim with the Dolphins. Gingerhill Farm offers an exotic escape from the hustle and bustle of 21st-century living.
South Kona's "Greenbelt," has long been known for farming, especially coffee. Lush growth and farms, cute stores, antiques, and cafes dot the road down to Historic Kealakekua Bay where Captain Cook once "discovered" Hawaii and where tourists now swim with the Dolphins.
  • I have nothing but fantastic things to say about Gingerhill farms! The room was amazing and it was so relaxing to stay here and unwind for four nights. Having coffee every morning on the porch was the perfect start to the day! The location was also ideal, as it is south of busy kona with a lot to do in the area. I would highly recommend a stay at Gingerhill farms!

  • Wonderful stay, and a perfect place to start our vacation! We loved the night sounds, put us right to sleep. Iris and Zach were great hosts.

    Tammy2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • The garden cottage was an amazing place to stay. We had small lizardy visitors (didn’t bother us at all, they just hung around) which was nice. Amenities were nice - yoga mats, bug spray, plenty of towels. Since this is a natural environment it’s normal you’ll see a lot of insects and the like (mosquito bites that come along w it) but it was an experience that’s so unique I’m very happy to have stayed here.

    Darren2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was lovely and the views were breathtaking. We loved spending time on the porch overlooking the fruit trees, lush, beautiful land, and ocean. This is a truly unique place in paradise, and we wish we could have stayed longer. One small issue, the propane tank hadn't been checked/switched out, so we didn't have a warm water shower at night or a working stove in the morning. The hosts were quick to assist and switch the tank once we realized something might be wrong in the morning when the stove would not light. Despite this, I highly recommend staying at Gingerhill Farm Retreat. We loved the experience. Perhaps check with them about the propane upon check in. Thank you again Iris and Zach for welcoming us to your farm! We would love to visit again.

    Cori2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage on a beautiful property, with very kind and thoughtful hosts. We couldn't have been happier with our stay. We highly recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet stay that is still close to town and all it has to offer.

    Natalie2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • The Garden Cottage is a wonderful hideaway with beautiful and inspirational views. It is truly peaceful. The cottage is decorated with love, featuring beautiful screen prints and books. The verandah has a full kitchen and table and chairs, and I spent many hours cooking and relaxing here, including watching the beautiful sunsets. If you enjoy nature you will love it here. A recommendation also about the outdoor shower - I thought it was great! I was a little afraid from the description, as I was not sure how outdoors it would be, but it is actually wonderful! Very private. Iris and Zach are wonderful hosts, and there is always someone nearby if you need something. I highly recommend the Garden Cottage, and I hope to visit again soon.

  • We were in Hawaii over the holidays and there was a mishap with our final nights stay. Airbnb customer service was really helpful and assisted in placing us somewhere (gin, as it is peak season on the Kona coast and was a one night stay on a Saturday.

  • This is a beautiful place, set up on the hillside looking down to the sea, embedded in a gentle rural farm/forest. The accommodations were very comfortable (king-sized bed was extremely comfy), and wifi fast enough, privacy and quiet was excellent. The location is very good for accessing both beaches and local communities. We highly recommend, and would choose it again.

  • Fabulous place in S. Kona! We love this lush tropical part of the island, close to some of our favorite places on this part of the island. This is a lovely space! Large, open and comfortable. Its quiet and peaceful. A great place to just hang out, or base yourself for Kona adventures! Ken and Myra are wonderful hosts, who have created a special place to call home on the Big Island. My wife and I have been coming to the Big Island every year for the last ten and have stayed at many places. This is one we will definitely be coming back to!

    Jerry2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent choice for a stay on the west side of Big Island! Ken and Myra’s place is perfect; spacious, attractive, fully equipped, clean, and well located. You simply can’t go wrong here. Location; Captain Cook is well positioned for all activities in the Kona area and close to those south of town. Ken’s place is very near groceries and an assortment of restaurants so you don’t have far to drive for necessities. Tip; try the fruit stand across the road from the Choice Mart. Comfort; Ken and Myra were friendly and hospitable. They were readily available (living upstairs), but careful to respect our privacy (we hardly knew they were there). The house is even nicer than it appears in the photos. The spacious layout is well designed, allowing plenty of options for sitting to enjoy the place and spectacular environment. The huge bed was comfortable. The kitchen was well supplied, spacious, and well organized. The ventilation was perfect to adjust for warm days and cool nights. Conveniences; everything imaginable in a BnB was provided. There were so many small touches that made it clear Ken and Myra give a lot of thought to the needs of their guests. There was even a set of snorkeling gear available; very good quality, not “loaner” gear. Basic consumables were numerous; kitchen and bath. Complete sets of towels, including beach towels, were provided. How can you beat perfection? We had a fabulous time.

    Tom2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is the largest Airbnb space we have ever had! The whole bottom floor of Kenneth's home was devoted to the rental and we were surprised at how large the space was, with a huge living room, a large open galley kitchen and a spacious bedroom. The large private lanai was a particular delight; at night the bird and frog calls were lovely and we stayed up late listening to them and enjoying the warm night air. Kenneth was very responsive as a host, though we were quite independent. We had 4 wonderful days driving around the Captain Cook area, exploring the great beaches and coast highway. The Bayview Coffee Company was close by, and touring there was another highlight. Kenneth provided supplies for coffee, and a great selection of drinks greeted us in the fridge when we arrived. The kitchen was fully stocked with cookware and some basic cooking supplies. We would highly recommend this place and hope to come back with our grown kids next time!

  • Kenneth’s place is located right in Captain Cook but very private. Surrounded by vegetation and lots of glass windows which create an open feeling. The living area is spacious and very attractive, the bed comfortable and the kitchen nicely equipped. Ken and Myra are helpful and personable and want to make sure their guests have what they need. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

  • Stayed here for 11 days . Everything was as described. Great location cool at night making comfortable sleeping and warm at day. Close to many great snorkeling sites . Waling distance to local Choice Mart for most shopping needs . Walking distance to locale restaurants and hotel. That being said best to have a rental car for this location to get to many of the other sites like beaches , down town sites and attractions . While staying most locations we visited including 5 star beaches were no more than 1 and 1/2 hours away and most less than 1 hour driving . Approx 1/2 hour to the down town area a must visit. Ken and his Wife were very helpful with anything we needed and quick to respond to any of our needs all being met with in 30 mins . Kenneth's place is very spacious with plenty of seating in living room area with full dinning area for a setting of four . Kitchen is well setup for all cooking needs , we cooked eight out of our 11 nights and all appliances worked great. Bedroom is also very spacious and well laid out with the Queen bed being very comfortable . Bathroom Has a Huge whirlpool tub that we used a couple of nights. His and hers sinks making getting ready much faster getting out to enjoy the most of every day! If I had to give points for things to take note of that would be to take ear plugs as the night sounds are there all night FROGS are with you every night . After the first night we had no problem adjusting to them but for some this could pose a problem so worth mentioning . We found them soothing and closing all windows worked well with us . Cheap set of ear plugs would do the trick ! We love to BBQ and there is none at this location however a small George Foreman grill is provided. With all this said we would definitely recommend this place to others and when returning will consider staying again. Big Thank You goes out to Ken and his Wife for making our first visit to Hawaii the BEST !!

  • Nice place, although owner lives above, I still had privacy.

    Andres2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great apartment with a superior host. Very close to the best snorkeling spots and good access to Kailua-Kona and the airport. For two people the apartment is spacious. It is also fully equipped. Ken and Myra are very gracious and helpful without being obtrusive. Highly recommended.

  • Lovely house with a very nice atmosphere!

    Adriana2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. I loved having this space to come back to after my days of exploring. Comfy bed. Great views for sunset. Brenda has provided everything you could need. I highly recommend this space!

    Jeff2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Just know that Brenda is very transparent in her descriptions and photos of her property. It is exactly what she says it is. This is a good thing. When I consider the clever photos and hyperbole accompanying other AB&Bs we have looked at and encountered, it was a little hard to get used to but strangely satisfying. The only downside was the last bit of road (~ 200 yds) leading to her place! Atrocious! Get a car with good clearance or drive very slow and pick your path in the lane. Everything else is easy to get used to. Her place is centrally located, at least for the places that interested us which was pretty much the whole island. That is the thing about islands, everything is centrally located, pretty much. We wanted to walk to the town close by but the road give us da chicken skin. So consider that option at your peril. Otherwise, in cars, roads and speeds were fine. You better damn well like Geckos, we do, they will serenade you most of the night. If you need another reason to like them they eat lots of mosquitoes. I believe I saw One mosquito while we were there for five days. That should be all the proof you need. We liked da kine place. Mahalo

  • I spent 4 nights here as a solo respite. If you’re looking for quiet time, beautiful views and great hospitality, this is the place. 15-20 minutes to Captain Cook and Two Step snorkeling spots. 5 min to a few great restaurants/coffee. I drove a sedan and did just fine (go slowly) with the road. I wouldn’t recommend a sports car however. Everything included that I needed. The walk to the bathhouse was a great chance to check out the stars - which were sparkling.

    Diana2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda is a warm welcoming host . We felt very comfortable in this 2 floor accommodation spending most of our time on the balcony overlooking the ocean . The place is very clean ,well maintained and had many amenities that made our stay easy and relaxing . Would definitely return .

  • Love this beautiful place! Brenda was so kind and as everyone listed here. She is one great host. I love the room we stayed in and even though our stay was short, all was worth staying at Birds Nest Hale! Will definitely come back another year for a visit!

  • Brendas Hale is very spacious and comfortable, Kitchen on the first floor has everything you need and the second floor has an amazing view with stunning sunsets every day.

    Tim2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • the birds nest is perfectly nestled on the mountain side near great amenities of Kona but away from the hustle and bustle of normal tourists. brenda was warm and welcoming, always checking in on me making sure i was comfortable during my stay. she was quick with food suggestions as well as what to do on the island. it checked all my boxes as a perfect stay and i would highly recommend any solo traveler to spend their time at the birds nest. PS best view of the sunset EVER.

Up in the jungle above sacred Kealakekua Bay. You will be among the frogs, roosters and the coffee. Beautiful specimen garden. Amazing ocean sunsets from the lanai. One way narrow road up the mountain. The driveway is muddy in wet season. Please note, Coffee and farm tours not available. Work trade option through work away site. We don’t offer lower prices, discounts or waived cleaning fees but we try to keep our regular cost as low as possible.
All shared spaces easily accessible in open floor plan.
10 minutes to choicemart grocery and 15 minutes to the beach!
  • We really loved our time here. The hospitality went above and beyond, the location is stunning and we really enjoyed the peaceful environment. The room and common areas were great for our little one to crawl, cruise and toddle. We really felt the aloha and positive energy here and hope to visit again.

  • Jenn’s place was a part of our adventure on big island. You need to drive about 8-10mins single lane road through a beautiful jungle community where produce the best coffee in the United States. We enjoyed our time at her place including the driving with our Jeep. Her place is a coffee farm. She provided us some whole coffee bean and fresh fruit which we really appreciated. Super nice host with a flow of positive energy. Highly recommended.

  • Jenn's place was great. The location was great - close to everything on the Kona side but at a cooler altitude which was perfect for sleeping and the Coqui's sing you to sleep. The property is beautiful. Lots of fruit from trees available, and sunsets to die for!

    Brent2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Jenns place was amazing! It was a nice little cottage type setting in the middle of the forest! Would definitely stay again!

  • By far our favorite (and most affordable) oasis on the Big Island. Jenn's house is clean, comfortable, and feels like a natural part of the island. Breezy and beautiful deck overlooking ocean, serene magic garden. Positive vibes all around, all sorts of fruit to pick, would give more stars but only five available. :(

Hale Kai is a cozy studio loft in the heart of Kealakekua Bay, Kona Hawaii. Located only a 2 minute walk to Manini Beach Park and Kealakekua Bay Historic State Park. Walk across the street for a morning swim or kayak to the Captain Cook monument for some of the best snorkeling in the world. 1 queen bed, 2 futon couch/beds for kids or if you have more than 2 guests (inquire within), Kitchenette with 4 burner stove/oven combo, microwave and full size fridge. Full bathroom with standing shower.
Hale Kai Loft is a private upstairs studio apartment in an A-frame style home. The apartment has its own private entry and is equipped with a kitchenette, gas stove, microwave, toaster oven, and full size fridge. Spacious bathroom with standing shower and we provide all the basic amenities such as towels, wash cloths, shampoo/ conditioner, soap. All the things that we know we appreciate while traveling.
Historic Napo'opo'o is a small fishing village located in Kealakekua Bay, popularly known for being the location of the Captain Cook monument and for its protected waters that house a plethora of marine life to view daily. Kealakekua Bay is a marine sanctuary so there is no fishing aloud in the bay but your likely to find dolphins breaking these rules and enjoying the calm protected waters daily. The neighborhood of Napo'opo'o is connected by a simple system of one lane roads, please drive slowly through the neighborhood and watch for kids and locals pets at play.
  • Hale Kai is an amazing place in a wonderfully located area of Big Island. His place was super clean, full with tips and instructions for its appliances and tourism information from nearby places. He also provides a lot of amenities with the stay, so don't be like us and make use of them! Kai is a wonderful host, very friendly, communicative and welcoming. I'm totally recommending this place and him as a host.

    Daniel2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Good little spot perfect little base camp for adventures. Skip big snorkel tours, rent a kayak from the two opperators at Manni beach (Ehu & Kai) very reasonable and only 5 min walk away. Getting in and out of the bay and in and out of the kayak much easier then anticipated. Would stay here again!

    Kieth2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location! Be aware of the many steps up, use handrail. Kai’s Dad helped us to get parked in proper space. The airflow through the top floor was great and we enjoyed the bird song in the morning. Very clean and plenty of room.

    Ruth2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • The equipment was complete except that it lacked some information to operate the devices: ex: television, we had trouble getting it to work. Then the breaker jumped when the toaster was operated and the coffee maker was operating; same thing for the kitchen light.

    Michel2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Hale Kai is the perfect launching and landing pad for Kealakekua Bay adventures. You're steps away from the precious community-run Manini Beach, which offers a small channel into the bay ... as well as all the kayak/SUP rental companies (we used Ehu & Kai, Adventures in Paradise). We rose before light each day to enjoy the reefs before the crowds arrive at 10am. The hale met all our needs, including a coffee grinder, small french press, and drip machine to enjoy your fresh Kona coffee. We also appreciated the small stereo system with a plug for your audio device. The bed was soft and comfy. Two futons provided a place to nap after long mornings on the water. Floor to ceiling screens line each end of the hale, which provide good air circulation (lots of fans of you need em). Trees and palms provide a tropical vibe and plenty of privacy. They're also a reminder that you're in the jungle ... and thus amidst all the creatures in it! Overall, we really enjoyed the old skool feel and enjoyed our short stay at the "little tin shack in Healakekua Bay, Hawaii." Mahalo!

    Robert2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is the top floor of a little A frame. A sweet spot, walking distance to the beach park and kayak rental. Quiet little town, off the beaten path. Bring groceries to avoid a trip back up the hill.

Stay in our recently built, tastefully decorated, ocean-view, private guesthouse on an organic farm in Kealakekua, South Kona. This is paradise! Peaceful country home without traffic noises and with easy access to beaches, and Kona town. Enjoy a taste of Hawaii with seasonal fruit all year round!
This newly built farm cottage is tastefully decorated and fully stocked for "home away from home" convenience. We provide all the necessary amenities. On the slopes between Hualalai and Mauna Loa Volcanos, our 2.5 acre farm is a 20 min drive to Kailua Kona, the beaches of Kealakekua Bay and walking distance to the shops in Kealakekua, but when you're on the farm, you will think you are in the middle of the country. All our friends agree, that this is a one-of-a-kind property!
We live in the Kona coffee belt and all of our neighbors run working coffee farms. This is a unique little pocket of "old Hawaii" acreages nestled in between newer developments, Kealakekua township and one of the largest coffee farms on the island, Greenwell Farms. Our neighbors are all very friendly and you will find that if you come "with Aloha," then you will receive lots of Aloha in return. We are a multi-cultural family and are happy to "talk story" with you about the Hawaiian islands, culture and modern-day society that make this place special. Please be respectful of our neighbor's privacy and do not wander on to anybody else's property.
  • Amazing view. Peaceful. Extremely clean. We loved it so much we bought groceries and grilled instead of going out to eat. Sitting on the lanai in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings...we would have never left!

    Catherine2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot say enough about this place! Corinne and Juan Carlos were awesome hosts very quick to respond and very friendly! I have stayed at a copious amount of Airbnbs and this one deserves 10 stars out of 5. There was fresh fruit from their farm on the table and some coffee beans for the stay! It was SO clean.. so many amazing thoughtful touches like extra toiletries in the event that you forgot your own.. they even had some after sun aloe in the fridge! The kitchen was stocked! Everything you would need to cook a meal with spices.. tea and coffee and condiments in the fridge. They had movies and some games for ppl with kids too! The bed was very comfy! They provided plenty of towels and face cloths..and some beach towels as well! We spent every morning having our fruit and tea in the lanai and watched the sun set in the evenings as well. It has an incredible view of the skyline/ocean and you’re surrounded by nature! The road going up to the property is quite bumpy which we were made aware of! There are lots of roosters around some of the other properties so if you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs! We didn’t mind all the sounds of nature and to be honest you kind of get used to it! There is a grocery store down the way and cute coffee shops/gelato and you are quite close to a lot of great beaches! We will definitely be back here and hope to book here some time in future!

  • If you have any questions about whether this is the place to stay put them away right now. It is a truly magical place with outstanding hosts. If you are looking for true Hawaii in a beautiful setting and an emaculate and comfortable place then you have found it. I can still see the sunlight creep down the hill over the coffee plants each morning as it reached down to the sea (which is sprawling out in front of you) from the huge screened in porch. I miss it so much and you will too. Juan Carlos and Corinne are better than superhosts, they made us feel like we belonged on their island and in their community. We attempted to hit each recommendation on the list for beaches, food, activities, etc and each one was even better than they said. Do not hesitate to stay with them.

    Serene2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Corinne and Juan's cottage retreat was just what my mom and I needed to unwind. Close enough to all the things to do without being in the bustle of the town. Cottage is exactly as described, clean, fully stocked and was so relaxing. Communication throughout was a breeze and we really appreciated talking with Juan about the local produce, coffee and local attractions. Highly recommend.

  • best place ever. we have had an excellent stay.

    Manfred2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Corinne and Juan Carlos's house! The screened in porch with beautiful views is where you will spend all your time. It is close to beaches and things to do, but is in a country setting. We loved starting and ending our day on the large porch with the beautiful views. Hosts are very responsive to needs and questions. House is stocked with everything you need for meal preparation.

    Kristin2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Corinne & Juan Carlo's rental is in a wonderful location. We enjoyed the serene surroundings and liked going for walks around the property and through the neighborhood. The rental was very clean, especially given we are in the tropics, and had a nice functional layout. Great lighting and electrical outlets and everything was well thought out with regards to amenities. The highlight for us was the beautiful screened-in lanai where we spent mornings and afternoons looking out over the acreage and ocean view. Being higher up in elevation was nice to escape the heat down by the shore and we got to see a few sunsets directly from the lanai as well. What a treat, thank you!

  • The tent is a unique experience that is a lot of fun even if it is a cloudy night. The tent and the outdoor bathroom is clean and feels comfortable. We checked in after sunset and a cat came to hang out with us throughout the night. It was very sweet and friendly and made us feel safe and welcomed! We would definitely return if given the chance.

  • This is a wonderful place to stay. We had clear sky's and many stars. It was cold for Hawaii but there were plenty of warm blankets and we had a great nights sleep.

  • If you are looking for little adventure during your visit to big island , Rose place is the way to stay . My 1st Glamping experience , . It is not your typical Air BnB experience . . Rose provides very accurate directions along with pictures , which helped big time to check-in in to dorm in such big ranch . I recommend to check-in while you still have some sunlight , as it gets pitch dark in the ranch and check-in can be more adventurous.. Star gazing at ranch is much better than Manua Kao summit. Lot of animals and pets on ranch

This one bedroom attached apartment with an ocean view is the perfect space for you to relax and unwind after a day of fun! It has it’s own private entry and includes a queen bed, a sofa bed, a fridge, a microwave, an induction cooktop, your own washer/dryer and BBQ grill! Our home sits at a cool 1300' elevation with stunning sunsets. For our fellow adventurers, It’s only 10 minutes from Keauhou Bay, and 15 minutes from Kona town to the North or 2 Step snorkeling to the South.
South Kona has the advantage of being cool and casual while still accessible to enjoy everything Kona town has to offer. Just a short drive down the bypass road brings you to Ali'i Drive and some great surfing and snorkeling at Kahalu'u and Magic Sands beaches. You'll never get tired of these sunsets, either. Travel nurses will love its proximity to the hospital and our vacationers will love the charming Kainaliu shops and Gypsea gelato!
Bring plenty of water and a spirit of adventure for the Captain Cook monument trail for a challenging and beautiful hike, some people even choose to pack some snorkel gear for a dip once they get to the bottom. Head a 15 minutes South the the sacred City of Refuge and while you're there, also enjoy a couple of hours at Two Step for some snorkeling(ask us about some snorkeling gear if you didn't bring yours along). We are only 15 minutes from the heart of Kona Town where you can find beachfront dining and endless shopping. Grocery store: There’s a KTA grocery store conveniently located up the hill and to the South only a 1/2 mile.
  • This place was great my husband and I loved the boogie boards!

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Hale's Hale. This was the perfect size for myself, my husband, and our 15 year old son. Our son slept on the pull out couch and he enjoyed having his own space from us. We loved the shower and Marileigh and John provided shampoo, body wash, and conditioner along with all kinds of sunscreens and other toiletries in case you needed or forgot something. It was wonderful having beach equipment to use, including towels, snorkeling gear, umbrellas, chairs, and lots of helpful books about Hawaii. There was a grocery store and lots of restaurants close by as well as a wonderful coffee tour (Greenwell Farms) totally recommend stopping by this place. We drove to Volcano National park the last day and it was a beautiful drive about 2 hours from here. We also loved having a washing machine and dryer, we used that right away as the first part of our trip was in Maui at a resort and we had several days of close washing to do. I also loved the adorable banana tree in the yard! We would highly recommend this place to stay and would definitely back and stay here again!

  • The location was perfect to explore that side of the island. Very peaceful, clean, and had lots of unexpected amenities. We will be back!

    Katie2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place! Extremely clean and new! The available beach gear was a great addition to our stay and we used it extensively. Jon and Isaac(I think) were very polite and helpful for anything we needed and offering local tips. I would definitely stay here again if I make it back to Hawaii island again!

    Brian2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great hospitality. The place was exactly as advertised and in a great location. Amazing stay!

    Luzely2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Our family loved our stay in Kona at Marileigh and Jonathan's place. The location was easy to find and close enough to the adventures in Kona, but far enough away to enjoy a more peaceful environment. It was beautiful inside (loved the shower) and comfortable. There are so many extras that they have added that made our vacation so much easier and were so appreciated. They were also very accommodating with are check in time, when the airline changed it, and were so prompt in messaging back.

    Tracy2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay. The space was very cute, clean, and centrally located. There was a lot of beach gear for use. Our plane got in a bit late but we were greeted for check in, in person, and the host was very kind. Also, the noise wasn’t bad if you’ve ever lived below someone. They had ear plugs, which made me giggle, some people have clearly been sensitive. For the price point, beach gear, and hospitality, there is no better deal. Trust me. I’m cheap as heck. :)

    Sam2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Room was clean and the view was great. Beach equipment was well prepared and it was good to use. The grill was good and I ate it well. I needed to solve it right away.

The boat room is located on the licensed Rainbow Plantation B&B. A large tropical peaceful oceanview property close to Kailua-Kona, voted best B&B in Hawaii by Readers Digest. Close to dolphin bay snorkeling, hiking, coffee farms and on 1300 ft elevation with a pleasant cooler climate. Quiet peaceful rooms with private baths, and a professional helpful staff. With a common kitchen where you can cook and meet other fellow world travelers too ! Breakfast is not included.
The unique Jungle Queen boat room is a beautiful cozy old renovated boat (on land!) It has a queen bed, bath with a shower and toilet, living room with a loveseat, an LCD TV and fridge and a deck with awesome ocean and sunset views ! For 2 only. It's a real boat. It looks and feels like one still, with a newly renovated interior (Dec 2019). Don't book this if you don't like boats. Smaller room, 6 feet height in some places but an awesome ocean view !
Peaceful quiet rural area with mainly coffee farms, the only in the US. Close to the ocean and swimming, only 5-10 minutes drive or hike there on the famous Cook monument trail. Up on a cooler and pleasant 1300 feet elevation, with no need for a noisy AC.
  • The boat is great. We eat a giant grapefruit from the property and could see the sunset over the ocean.

    Bunny2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome and lovely place! It was just perfect ! Thx a lot !

    Pierre2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Staying in the jungle queen was perfect. A perfect getaway from mainstream tourism. A beautiful property with chickens , ducks, a peacock, a couple very friendly cats and of course geckos. The sounds of the birds and creatures at night were incredible! For someone who loves boats this was a nice treat to be on one in the jungle. There is a small mini fridge in the boat and the outdoor communal kitchen has a stove and all your necessary cooking supplies. Easy to find and a great area to stay! Would recommend to anyone and stay there again in a heartbeat!

    Lia2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • It was so fun staying in a boat, with an amazing ocean view to watch the sunset in the evening. It was also convenient to have the KTA close by. Lovely property.

  • This place was awesome. Christian was great at providing helpful tips about the area. The place was clean and cozy and had a great view of the sunset. I would stay here again .

    Brock2019-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Once we checked in the host showed us a map and gave us a rundown of the island and whole bunch of activity’s that we can do. Beautiful place to stay very relaxing.

    David2019-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place! We loved staying in this quirky and magical spot, which was a perfect home base for exploring the east side of the Big Island. The Jungle Queen was a unique and charming experience (note this space is not for tall people or those who are bathroom-shy, as only a curtain separates the toilet cubicle from the rest of the cabin). Sunset drinks on the private porch were a bonus, as was the snorkel gear available for use by guests. We enjoyed all the wildlife too: the bird and insect orchestra, chickens and peacock strutting around by the outdoor kitchen, and the wild pig we caught a glimpse of on our way in. Glad we had a Jeep for the 1-lane road leading in.

    Ellia2019-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our Boat House (aka the jungle queen) it was so adorable. Loved the small table outside was perfect for our morning coffee. Christian was super responsive and came to great us the first day. His sister was helping out and she was so helpful too. Loved the cats on the property they were so friendly. We got to use snorkel gear while we were there to what a plus! Everything was clean. And it was nice vexing secluded in the boat house. I was kinda we weren’t staying there longer actually. So next time we will deff stay longer.

NANA MOANA STUDIO. COZY AND UNIQUE LODGING The custom studio is built above the garage of the Hale Nana Moana (the main house, also a vacation rental), with an open beam ceiling, and connected to the main house. It has a kitchenette with a hot plate and small refrigerator, a covered deck (“lanai”) with a view of the ocean, and a spacious bathroom. Laundry appliances are on site. Banana, avocado, and mango trees are hugging this romantic vacation home for two.
This location is somewhat remote and getting there is an adventure. A 4 wheel drive vehicle is not required but is recommended
First and foremost, we are located on the west side of Hawaii Island, That is 120 plus miles away from the active volcano. When the Kona winds are still, which is rare, a light haze is the only sign of madame Pele doing her thing. One would never suspect what is going on, on the East side. Although we are located just minutes from world famous Kealakekua Bay- (snorkling, swimming, hiking, kayaking, historical spot). As well as shopping, groceries, farmers markets & sight seeing. It is extremely private and remote.
  • The studio is even more beautiful than the pictures and had everything we needed to be comfortable. The bed was wonderful. We had a great week in the midst of the gorgeous trees, etc. and we loved the frogs; we recorded them to enjoy back home. The driveway is challenging as described: very steep with many notable potholes. Clearly a four-wheel vehicle would make it much easier, but we managed it every day in our rented standard car.

    Bob2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot with an amazing view of the ocean. We loved the wildlife, fruit trees & gardens. Would definitely recommend this rental and even stay again!

    Carly2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Priscilla's place! It was in a beautiful, secluded area with a great view of the ocean from the lanai. It can be a little noisy at night with the sounds of the frogs outside, but we found it very relaxing. We had everything we needed in the Airbnb, including snorkel gear! It's in a great location, about a 15 minute drive from downtown Kona. As others have mentioned, the driveway is steep, but definitely doable and got easier each time. I would highly recommend!!

    Emily2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Priscilla's studio for 25 days. We highly recommend her place. She and her house cleaner Laurie, and her maintenance man Glen were super, friendly, easy to talk with, and very helpful in all ways. Glen gave us fresh picked bananas, avocados, oranges, and papayas from Priscilla's land around the cabins. The studio was sparkling clean. It had everything we needed for our stay. The place is quiet with only nature's sounds from birds and the tiny frog Qukee. No city noises. The King bed and mattress was very comfortable, and a pleasant plus since so many vacation rentals have only queen beds. Priscilla had told us that the driveway to her place is steep and bumpy, so we had rented a 4x4 Ford Escape, which made the access easy. Everybody else who came to Priscilla's cabins while we were there had also a SUV or Jeep.

    Svend2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • The studio was wonderful, with a fantastic view of the sunset! The host responded immediately to any inquiries we had and was very helpful.

    Benjamin2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay but do not follow directions on google maps. It will take you down the wrong way that is a horrible road.

    Allen2019-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • The studio was perfect. It accommodated 2 of us easily. The bed was comfortable, the view off the deck was amazing, and the kitchen amenities were great. We even received oatmeal and honey upon check in (November is not fruit season, although avocados were still plentiful). The driveway is a little nerve wracking the first time but you get the hang of it quickly and I wouldn't consider it a negative. After staying in the Hilo area, I can confidently say that the Coqui frogs here were very manageable and pleasant, not overwhelmingly loud. I would totally recommend this for a couple or small group and I would definitely stay here again!

    Lawrence2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful location, the road up is so gorgeous and the house had everything we needed. Waking up and being able to see the ocean view from bed was a vacation dream. Close enough to drive to everything but far enough away to feel like a private getaway. Would definitely stay again.

Open beams & split pitch roof. All stained wood. Brand new dwellings
Just built. Detached guest house. Polynesian style Detached with 1 bedroom and partially outdoor shower
Our dwelling is historical. It was built in 1944 by Greenwell Ranch to house their Paniolo (cowboy) workers. The site is approx. 20,000 sf and very fertile with much rich soil (not so common in Kona). The guest house is completely detached and a good 100 feet away. There are privacy barriers between guest house and main house and a completely private entrance. It is well lit with motion sensor floodlights at night. There is also a gravel driveway through our yard right up to the guest house if guest party is packing heavy suitcases. The neighborhood is fairly standard Hawaii style residential houses mostly inhabited by long term residents. There are no barking dogs. One can park up by the guest house if one wishes, but navigation is a little tricky. Otherwise, a space in the detached garage is for the guest. Our yard is beautifully landscaped (if I do say so myself) since my wife's hobby is landscaping
  • We stayed at May Rose Cottage for one week and it was an absolutely wonderful experience!! The hosts were very kind and welcoming. They even shared some bananas with us from their garden and they were so delicious! I was most amazed by the beautiful gardens on the property with a large variety of orchids, anthurium, hibiscus, and many other Hawaiian plants and flowers. The gardens are obviously very well tended and truly a labor of love! We felt like we were staying in the middle of a tropical paradise. It truly felt like we had our own treehouse in the jungle and we were able to enjoy birds, geckos, tree frogs, and other wildlife. My husband was most impressed by the craftsmanship of the cottage. It was a wonderful set up with a deck, balcony, and a luxurious outdoor shower. The place was absolutely spotless with impeccable attention to detail. The location was wonderful for us as well. We were very close to some of the best snorkeling in Hawaii including Kealakekua Bay (Captain Cook) and Honaunau Bay (Two Step). We actually walked from the cottage to the Trailhead for Captain Cook. Great food in the area as well including Shaka Tacoz, Teshima Restaurant and Annie’s Burgers. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay—we can’t wait to return someday!!

  • Another great stay !

    Bruce2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful spot, and lovely, artful gardens! The cottage itself is beautiful, , well laid out, with furnishings we really appreciated. Guidebooks available were helpful. The shower was terrific - loved being able to see flowers and trees, catch the outdoor breeze while showering. There's a coffee pot and filters and gorgeous deck for sipping it on, but no coffee or tea, so consider whether to bring some of your own, or buy the pricey local shops offerings. Hope everyone else enjoys their stay at May Rose Cottage as much as we did.

    Kathleen2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Second time staying here. This time with my adult children. We rented both units from John and had 5 total adults. You can’t beat the price or the privacy found at John & Nat’s place. The outdoor shower was the best! Nat’s garden was one of the most amazingly well thought out and well kept I have ever seen. It’s like a mini sanctuary for wildlife and birds. So many different types of plants and trees attract many birds and other small animals that live there. Kitchen was big enough to prepare meals in and there is usually some kind of fruit ripe on the grounds, in addition to the many very close, local fruit stands. Proximity to Two-Step beach was great! Best snorkeling on the island, in my opinion. We saw many different fish, turtles and even a 7’ Galapagos shark in this protected reef while snorkeling. I would absolutely recommend to ANYONE who is looking for relaxation and privacy at a great price. Mahalo nui Natalie & John for sharing your home!

  • May Rose Cottage is a beautiful place for a wonderful vacation. The lush gardens, Polynesian architectural design, and stunning walk in shower make staying in this rental a memorable experience. Being in the Captain Cook area feels private and out of the tourist area, yet you are amazingly close to services and a full grocery store. The bed is comfy and the ample decks and mini kitchen provide all one needs for a real Hawaiian getaway. A gem. Please note, there are stairs.

    Linda2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Just for the really nice veranda and the super comfortable bed, it's worth 5 stars. Do not miss Kealakekua Bay for snorkeling a two minute drive from this accommodation.

Mid Kona Ohana is located in the very center of the Kona district at 1400' elevation in an area called Kealakekua. The spacious apartment(ohana) has nearly 800 sq. ft. of space with 2 large rooms. The ohana has its own parking space and private entrance. Ocean breezes during the day and mountain breezes at night make for pleasant temperatures. The view overlooks the ocean with amazing sunsets.
Mid Kona Ohana consists of 2 large rooms that are approximately 18' by 20' each, and a separate bathroom with a large walk-in shower and single vanity. There are ceiling fans in both rooms and plenty of windows. The living room/kitchen area includes a sitting area with a small TV, full size stove and refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and toaster, along with a kitchen table with seating for four. The large bedroom includes a full size bed, computer workstation, 2 dressers and a large closet to store your luggage. There is also a bookshelf containing books about Hawaii and some board games. Off-street parking and a small lanai out front complete the space.
Mid Kona Ohana is in a quiet residential area on a dead end road so traffic is minimal. It is an older subdivision with a variety of trees and a view of the ocean. There is a grocery store, McDonald's and other smaller local restaurants within about a 2 mile radius.

Jeff was very friendly and left us some amazing fresh fruit and coffee upon arrival! We loved the area, and hope to return to Jeff’s place in the future!

  • It is a very clean and comfortable place. The host is extremely friendly and helpful, welcoming us with a message board that has our names and fresh fruits! We have really enjoyed our stay and we would definitely love to come back!

  • We loved the location of this place. It's close the several attractions like the Captain Cook snorkeling area, Honaunau Bay, coffee farms, farmers market, etc., and not too far from Kona. The place itself is comfortable, complimentary fruit and coffee was a nice touch. Jeff also let us dry stuff out in their dryer though the apartment itself has no washer or dryer. (Things get wet in Hawaii and stay that way for days due to humidity, something we learned.) There was noise late at night and early in the morning as others have noted. We used ear plugs. Thank you Jeff and Cindy.

If you are trying to save some dollars and rent further south, beware that the road gets windy and what looks like a short distance on the map may be an extra 20-30 minute drive. The house is super comfortable with everything you can possibly need including a 6 person hot tub on the top floor lanai, and a breath taking 180-degree view of the mountain and the ocean. Half of the 2300 sq. ft. area on each floor consists of a covered lanai, great for enjoying your morning espresso while watching the sun climbing over the mountain top, or watch the sun set over the ocean while enjoying our 8 people dinner table when the chef is cooking on the outdoor grill. At night you will be amazed by our spacious 6-person hot tub on the top floor lanai while gazing the stars. With a fantastic 180-degree view of the mountain and the ocean, Kealakekua Bay to Honaunau, you can sit for hours just relaxing in our patio chaise loungers. The top floor has a beautiful kitchen and living room all in one while the ground floor has the same layout, but the ground floor kitchen is without an oven and a regular cook top. Instead it has a dual hot plate. Both floors have a microwave oven and a large Weber outdoor propane grill on the lanai. Both floors have beautiful quartz stone counter tops. You can cook in the kitchen and watch the 65-inch 4K TV in the living room at the same time, or have a drink and a snack at the kitchen island that seats 4, while you are watching the chef preparing your food. Enjoy your dinner on one of the two lanais at our big dinner tables which seats up to 8. Both floors look the same and are set up the same, but the top floor has 15 ft. ceilings. Each floor has 2 bedrooms with attached bathrooms with shower and toilets and walk in closets. Each floor sleeps 4 people (1 King and 2 Twin beds) and there is a possibility to put in one extra folding bed on each floor with memory foam (perfect for children). The living rooms on each floor have 65 inch TVs and luxury sofas. When you wake up in your bed in the morning, open your eyes, look through the big sliders and be swept away by the amazing ocean view. On each floor there are two bedrooms with two private bathrooms and walk in closets. At 1100 ft. the temperature is just perfect, 80 degrees during the day and 70 degrees at night. You sleep great at this elevation without an air conditioning. Our house is perfectly located in a beautiful green and quite neighborhood with an easy driveway and plenty of parking. Just minutes away from shopping and the best breakfast place on the island, The Coffee Shack. Your first day, you are most likely heading down to Kealakekua Bay, to snorkel, watch wild spinner dolphins in the morning or kayaking. Either way it’s a convenient 12-minute drive. Your second day, you may want to go south for 20 minutes and visit the sandy and most private beach of Hookena, one of the gems when it comes to beaches in the area, with great swimming and sometimes plenty of wild dolphins. The third day another gem is Honaunau National Historical Park (10 minutes drive). One of the evenings, you can drive 10 minutes north for fine dining at Keei Café, or just have great food at Annie's Burger, or continue another 10 minutes north for all the choices Kailua-Kona has to offer. Our house is a great base for exploring the Island. We love to go around the Island for a long day, or if you haven’t done it before, stay a night in Hilo to have some more time exploring the area. Driving around the Island in one day, starting at 6 AM, will allow time for a visit to the Volcano, lunch in Hilo, driving the amazing 4-Mile Scenic Drive through the rain forest, experiencing Akaka Falls just before sunset and then coming back through Waimea and Kona around 8 PM. Adding another day will make time for a visit to Hilo Zoo, it’s a blast for the children, and watch the lava flow at night. We always love to come back to the peace and calmness of our neighborhood and the house after a long day on the road. Going north of Kona to the resorts is an easy 45-minute drive, and will be fun for a day. Hilton Waikoloa is well worth a visit just to get the feeling of how nice it is to be back at the house! There are several great beaches up north as well. The largest sandy beach on the island is Hapuna Beach Park (50 minute drive up north).
The Kealakekua Bay area has always been our top pick of places on the Big Island. It's green, lush and beautiful and you can still feel the old Hawaiian culture. It's a great location for snorkeling, adventure, scuba diving and to swim with wild dolphins. The airport is 6 miles north of Kailua-Kona. Our house is perfectly located 14 miles south of Kailua-Kona. Kona Paradise is another 12 miles south of our house. Our house is close to everything you can possible need. Just 5 minutes away from a large grocery store. One of the biggest hospitals on the Island is close as well. Several ATM and banks are 8 minutes away. Kealakekua Bay, Ke'ei Beach and Honaunau, also called Two Step, are just a few miles away and offers great snorkeling at beautiful coral reefs, the possibility to watch wild dolphins and large turtles. You can kayak over to the Historical Captain Cook monument and snorkel at one of Hawaii's best coral reefs. The Coffee Shack is just a few minutes away. They serve great breakfast, lunch or just a nice cup of Kona coffee with award winning cakes you'll never forget. If you like to enjoy a really good massage to a reasonable price it is just a 10 minutes drive to Aloha Massage Academy in the small town called Kainaliu. In this small town you can also find a yoga studio called Yoganics, small shops and amazing Italian ice cream at Gypsea Gelato. Close by is one of the best restaurants on the Island called Keei Cafe, where you can get a very special dinner. If you want a great burger you have to visit Annie's Island Fresh Burgers. Kona Boys is also close by if you want to rent a kayak, surfboard or snorkel gear.
  • Amazing place to stay! Mikael was super responsive and an excellent host. Property was in top shape, stylish, super clean, and with tons on amenities. The view from the Lanai is out of this world. We rented the top portion of the property as the bottom portion was not currently available. Would come again 100%.

  • This property is amazing; the view is spectacular, house is bright and clean, location is great, full of gears, everything is perfect. Carola and Mikael gave us lots of local travel tips which is very helpful. It was a great experience . Thanks!!

  • Fabulous place! The description and pictures are spot on. Close to the grocery store is REALLY helpful. Mikael responded quickly to several questions. The view is outstanding. Actually saw a whale breach from the balcony. We ate the Coffee Shack (excellent) and at Shaka Tacos (excellent as well). We plan on returning and maybe booking both floors. We Facetime friends and they want to return with us!

  • Waking up to the beautiful vista offered by this home every morning was an incredible experience. It was only matched by looking up into the stars from the hot tub each evening. Mikael was quick to respond to a few questions we had throughout the stay and went above and beyond with suggestions for local beaches and restaurants that did not disappoint. Friction free experience getting checked in and during our stay. Can't wait to come back again.

  • Great location and hosts! Our trip was awesome!

  • Mikael’s place is very nice. It is extremely spacious and very relaxing with an amazing view. House was VERY well stocked. Mikael was a good communicator as well. My one critique is Mikael wants you to sign additional documents and he sprang them on us at the very last second. They are not a huge deal but it would have been nice to have more time to read them over etc. Would definitely stay again and would highly recommend the house.

This glamorous camping dome is a one-of-a-kind destination for your honeymoon fairyland💏, fancy “glamping”🏕, or just an original getaway🏞. With zero light or noise pollution, this private ranch offers you the perfect seclusion for star gazing 🌌 while being surrounded by the most natural ambient sound. (See my other listings for cheaper options.)
Stepping into the dome, you get to enjoy your worry-free stay with a bathroom inside the unit. Wave hello to the friendly, free-wandering cows 🐮 and pigs 🐷 outside of your window. 😉 One king size bed OR two twin XL beds will be provided. Please let me know your preference while booking.
The ranch is located in the center of the top three snorkel spots on Big Island, less than a 20-minute drive to each destination. You get to witness both snowy volcanoes and the Pacific Ocean from the dome in winter.
  • Thank you. Loved being on the ranch

  • The dome was great! We had some issues with charging our devices, but we were fine with just charging our phones in the car. It was cold when we stayed, but there were plenty of blankets available and we knew we could ask for a heater if we wanted. The kitchen is equipped with lots of stuff - very doable to make meals! The family that lives on the property was SO nice and the kids and animal were so cute to see each morning.

  • It was a fun experience. A ways out of town and a little hard to find but once you figure it out it’s a piece of cake. Stayed in Dome 2. The weather didn’t cooperate but we did wake up in the middle of the night to star gaze and it was out of this world cool. We live it Utah and have great star gazing but nothing compared to this. Never been off the grid before and that was interesting. Couldn’t use a blow dryer in the dome and my straightener didn’t get very hot. You can use those items in the main house though. Could have used some beach chairs for our adventures. Thanks Rose for always being prompt in answering my questions.

  • The dome is amazing, even better in person than the listing. We had no problems with electricity or hot water, no bugs. Beautifully decorated and well located to everything we wanted to do. We will return for sure!

  • Nice place to getaway. Unfortunately is rained the night we stayed over so we couldn’t star gaze. Very secluded and unique experience.

  • This place was beautiful!! Rose is a great host and sends very timely and thorough communication. Make sure you read through her arrival instructions in detail, especially if you’re arriving at night. The place was very comfortable and had a lot of thoughtful touches. I was traveling in February, so it was very cold at the top of the mountain. Be sure to pack warm pajamas!! The stars are unreal!!! My first night it was storming, but once the storm was over and the clouds cleared, you could see a ton of stars and then I saw so many more the next night.

  • This is a great place, very unique experience!!

    Isabelle2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful experience ! We had a crystal clear night star gazing and could see every constellation . The small touches made it feel like home and the dome was extremely clean. The property itself is so amazing and the ride up was half the fun ! We will be back!
