This is a small cottage without any luxuries:) It is in the opening of the very beautiful valley, Hjaltadalur, but still you are able to enjoy the sunset in Skagafjörður from the cottage. There are 9,6km to the historical place Hólar í Hjaltadal, 16,5km to the nearest grocery store and swimming pool in Hofsós, 121 km to Akureyri and 317 km to Reykjavík. Please notice that there is just cold water in the sink and toilet, no shower or warm water, no TV or internet.
“This was an amazing place to use as a base for exploring North Iceland. Although (and as the ad indicated) there is no shower/bath, we were very comfortable there and found that our needs were more than met. It was cozy, warm, and well furnished; kitchen was especially useful and had everything we needed to cook and clean. We appreciated the host's thorough instructions about the checkin/checkout process, and especially the directions provided to help locate the cabin - much better than google! It's difficult to describe what we loved the most about this place... it's nestled privately in the woods but a short walk delivers spectacular views of the lowlands, Skagafjörður, Drangey, and the mountains. Large windows made for some cozy stargazing and aurora observing too. Additionally, it's a short drive to quite a few significant historic and natural wonders. My husband and I hope to have the opportunity to stay here again in the future!”
We would like to welcome you to come and stay in our lovely guesthouse at our farm in the heart of Skagafjordur. Here you can relax and enjoy your evening in our hot tub, take a walk to visit our calm and gentle horses, we also own a beautiful lake and we are "forest farmers" i.e. we plant 10.000 trees each year and we can highly recommend a stroll through our young forest to the lake. There will be sheep, chicken, cats and dogs around and next to the house there is a beautiful old church:)
“This was one of our favorite places while on our trip in Iceland. First we got stuck in a different town due to road closures and Hildur was so nice to help us with accommodations until the roads opened. We had the best conversations with them, both her and her husband are very nice to talk to. They went above and beyond all our expectations including a personal tour of their town, showing us their horses, and even inviting us in for coffee in the morning. I wish we could have stayed longer. I’m sure we will be back on our summer trip when we return. The place was so cute, with amazing decorations, a perfect northern location, and the hot tub was an amazing amenities. I definitely recommend this place if you are in the area.”
