The Shackteau

A rustic cabin, right out of “Deliverance.” Inside, it's a well equipped clean and cozy retreat overlooking the world famous Margaree River and hills. Margaree Forks is a great place to get away from it all, yet close to everything in western Cape Breton. I believe my happiest guests are those who are familiar with the camping lifestyle but now want something more comfortable. The owners now live in their new home on the property. Welcome to "The Wild Chicken Holiday Suite" We are situated 1 km from the National Park and 5 minutes to downtown Cheticamp. The suite has a dream coffee bar with excellent coffee and tea choices as well as other hot beverages too. You will also be delighted with fresh that morning seasonal muffins that I personally make and forage the fruit for! You also have your own private deck and entrance with a bistro table and umbrella! Renovated and newly furnished cottage near national park. Feb 2023: New second bedroom just added ( was an open loft before). New heat pump which provides air conditioning in summer months also just installed. Note: new stairs to second floor are slightly steeper than normal. Near pub and restaurants.
