Villa in Camps Bay
Cloud House
Elegant European style meets the incredible South African scenery at Cloud House. The classic lines and comfortable modern interiors of this Cape Town vacation rental are a beautiful contrast to the rugged lines of the Twelve Apostles. The villa’s quiet courtyard is a private place to entertain and relax, but a short walk brings guests to the surf and sand of Camps Bay Beach. Listen to the waves in the distance and revel in the sunshine in the tucked-away courtyard, which has a lap pool, a lawn large enough for games, a barbecue, and lounging and dining areas. There’s a gym where guests can keep up on their fitness routines while on holiday, an office in case you need to catch up on work and a home theatre where you can enjoy the company of friends and family. The interiors of Cloud House take inspiration from its name, rendered in shades of white and cream that lend a fresh appeal. Traditional touches such as French doors and columned porches are paired with contemporary pieces such as wicker and Lucite side tables and a sleek fireplace for an eclectic, modern look. The living and dining rooms are angled around the outdoor sitting area, and flow seamlessly into the fully equipped kitchen. The villa has three bedrooms with king beds and two with queen beds; all five have en-suite bathrooms. Neutral tones, clean-lined furnishings and large mullioned windows create an atmosphere of quiet luxury in the suites. For larger parties, a sofa bed provides extra accommodations. With restaurants, shops and bars less than a 15-minute walk away, Cloud House makes it easy to explore this lively oceanfront suburb. You can also stroll to Camps Bay Beach, a stretch of white sand that’s popular with everyone from local families and keen surfers to visiting honeymooners, or drive to Koeël Bay Market, where you’ll find a tempting array of hand-crafted items that make great souvenirs. Of course, a trip to Cape Town wouldn’t be complete without taking in the views from Table Mountain, Lion’s Head or the Twelve Apostles—all less than a 10-minute drive from Cloud House. Villa in Cape Town
Villa Olivier
Pale cream and dove gray are a soft backdrop for the brilliant blue of the ocean—and the brightness of the putting green—at this modern villa on a quiet Camps Bay street. The house seems to be nestled between the sea and mountains—a feeling that’s enhanced by breezy rooms that blur the line between indoors and out. It’s 6 minutes to the white sand and seafood restaurants of Camps Bay Beach. Spend sunny days watching the waves from a lounger on the deck by the swimming pool or perfecting your stroke on the private putting green. Linger outside around the charcoal barbecue or the alfresco sitting area; even on cooler nights, the heat lamps will keep you comfortable. Fold-away glass walls lead from the outdoor living areas to the indoor great room, where sitting and dining areas are separated by a double-sided fireplace but share the same soft neutral tones. The adjacent kitchen is fully equipped, opens to a small courtyard, and has both a breakfast bar and mountain views through its ample windows. Spot more Cape Town scenery from a master suite with its own balcony overlooking the ocean. Drive 6 minutes from the villa to Camps Bay Beach for a stroll on the white sand, a lunch of fresh seafood and South African wine, or a night out at a bar in this trendy area. All about Cape Town

Luxury Retreats, and expert in South African vacations

Encircled by craggy mountains and looking straight out across the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Town is a city like no other. With Table Mountain and the Cape of Good Hope both in close proximity, nature is never far away, but within the city itself, you’ll find plenty of urban charm, such as a world-class restaurant scene, fashionable shops, and modern art galleries, including the newly opened Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa. Pristine beaches like Camps Bay, Llandudno Beach, and the four Clifton beaches attract sun-worshippers and surfers alike, but it’s not all about the coast. If you head inland you’ll soon reach South Africa’s wine country, where renowned vineyards offer tours and, of course, tastings.

Cape Town is easily accessible thanks to its large international airport, which sees arrivals from many of the world’s major cities. Cape Town’s beaches are at their busiest between December and February, but it remains warm and sunny until April. For those who are less concerned about sunbathing then the crisp, cooler days of May and June are perfect for exploring. If whale-watching is a priority, be sure to visit between July and September.

Explore Kirstenbosch gardens

One of the world’s most important – and beautiful – botanical gardens, Kirstenbosch was created in 1913 to preserve and display South Africa’s extraordinarily diverse flora. A UNESCO World Heritage site with an incomparable setting at the foot of Table Mountain and in the heart of the Cape Floristic Region, you can easily spend a day wandering its 1,300 acres. Showcasing approximately 9,000 of South Africa’s 22,000 plant species. Kirstenbosch offers an elevated fragrance garden, a sculpture park, and the Tree Canopy Walkway, a snaking steel and timber bridge that rises above the treetops and provides excellent views. If you’re visiting between November and March, be sure to attend one of the outdoor concerts that are held here on Sundays – they have become something of a Cape Town institution.

Climb Table Mountain

The distinctive Table Mountain – so called because of its flat top – lies just outside Cape Town, providing the city with a prominent and dramatic landmark. Although you can admire the 600-million-year old mountain from various viewpoints around Cape Town, its well worth making the trip to the top, which can be reached either by cableway or by hiking for 2-4 hours. The views of the city and the ocean from the summit at 3,000 feet are breathtaking, as is the surrounding nature. The area surrounding Table Mountain is home to numerous plant species that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
