'The Cwtch' at Dan y Coed is set in a small village 3 miles from Crickhowell and 3 miles from Abergavenny. This is a 200 year old cottage which is set in a quiet country lane surrounded by greenery in the heart of the Brecon Beacons national parks. The Cwtch is a separate and private part of the house, it does however share the main entrance and the stairs. It's semi self catering with fridge, microwave and toaster only. Comprising of two double bedrooms, private shower room and lounge.
“You will get a warm welcome From Barbara. The accommodation shares a front door and stairway, but elsewise is self contained, and Barbara is happy to let you decide how much contact, if any, there is. There is a fridge/freezer, kettle and microwave which we found perfect for our needs. There are local pubs that serve food, more choice is available at either Abergavenny or Crickhowel. The canal that goes through Gilwern provides a relatively flat walking surface and way to enjoy the countryside as an alternative to climbing the many local steep hills.”
Completely renovated 2 years ago, the first floor has one bedroom with a kingsize bed, shower/wet room, and a sitting room with log burner. Downstairs has 1 large room which is a kitchen/dining space, large wood burner, TV & sofa bed. Located on a quiet road, Forge Cottage was once in the heart of an industrial area once known as Wilden Wireworks. Built next to a stream with a small patio next to the house there is a large parking area and 2 acres of woodland/garden opposite to explore.
“Richard's place is a hidden gem! The photographs do not do it justice at all. Located almost on top of a fast flowing stream it settled into the hillside and wonderfully relaxing. The interior is clean and stylish. There are wonderful touches throughout and has all the amenities you could need. Richard was a great host with clear communication and extremely welcoming. Overall, highly recommended. If this place is available when you are looking to book you simply must check it out!”
A lovely 2 bedroom house with off road parking that is ideally situated in the centre of Abergavenny within seconds of the Main Street and local amenities. The property has a large double bedroom and a single bedroom. The bathroom has both a shower and bath. The kitchen has a hob, oven, fridge-freezer, kettle, toaster and microwave.
“These people are awesome human beings with kindness, compassion and hospitality beyond expectations. I turned up just as the Covid-19 problems were really kicking off. Booted out of my usual place of residence due to the country having ‘closed’ whilst i travelled, Sarah and Dewi knew my circumstances and did everything they could to make me feel welcomed and safe. They had done a full food shop for me by the time i arrived, just to make sure i would be okay. They also left me a welcome card and box of chocolates. They continued to check in on me during my stay, making sure i was okay because i was by myself. I can’t say enough good things about them. They are the definition of how the kindness of strangers can make the biggest difference in a world which currently feels alien because of Covid. Brilliant people. Thank you is not enough.”
