Dating from 1585, the house sits in an idyllic spot between the Church and picturesque Sampford Manor. Originally the Church hall, it became the parish school in 1887 until 1923. Lydford House is ideally situated off the A30 and on Route27 within the tranquil village of Lydford in Dartmoor National Park. Lydford Gorge is a 15-minute walk away. We are 'Eco Friendly' cutting out single use plastics and using local product/suppliers. All our mattresses are handmade locally from Dartmoor wool and our pillows are 100 wool filled. A quite and tranquil place to stay with beautiful gardens and views. The village is well served with 2 pubs within 10 minutes walking distance.

The Forge is a unique place full of character set at the edge of Dartmoor and only 2 miles from the market town of Tavistock. The Forge is a great place for cyclists and walkers, or if you just want to get away from it all. The Cornish Coast is not far and the city of Plymouth full of history is just a short car journey. Tavistock has the markets and lovely cafes and restaurants. The Forge has a log burner to snuggle up next too on those chilly evenings and a garden to enjoy.
