Downtown Rome is located between the Etowah, Ostanaula & Coosa rivers and has the 2nd widest main street in the state! Since it's establishment in 1834, downtown Rome has continued to flourish and is the heart of the community! Rome is designated a "Great American Main Street City"! Experience southern dining at one of our many restaurants - a taste and budget for everyone! Experience the vibrant nightlife or take a stroll by the river. Enjoy downtown events such as the Downtown Saturdays series, a Broad Street Block Party, play in the streets at Streets Alive, shop at an Art Walk, watch pets parade down the street, and much, much more! Rome is the largest city in and the county seat of Floyd County, Georgia, United States. Located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, it is the principal city of the Rome, Georgia, Metropolitan Statistical Area, which encompasses all of Floyd County. It is the largest city in Northwest Georgia and the 19th largest city in the state. Rome was built at the confluence of the Etowah and the Oostanaula rivers, forming the Coosa River. Because of its strategic advantages, this area was long occupied by the Creek and later the Cherokee people. National leaders such as Major Ridge and John Ross resided here before Indian Removal.
