The forest of San Antonio does not have a well-defined history to which I can refer exclusively. A first portion of land among those who today are part of it, along with the land of the Vallombrosa forest were donated, around 1000, from noble families, including the Guidi, the Adimari and the monastery of S. Ilario Fiano (S.Ellero, Reggello), to the monks of Vallombrosa. These, with John Gualberto, founded in Vallombrosa in 1039 the monastic order of Benedictine monks. Therefore cultural and historical events of this forest have followed those of the larger whole to which he belonged: the Vallombrosa forest, run by monks. These lands total were composed of "turkey oaks and other trees"

It is an intact and natural area characterized by beech woods, mixed woods of broadleaf trees, and high-mountain prairies... full of breathtaking landscapes on Chianti mountains and Arno Valley
