A sandy, two-mile strip of sand flanked by dramatic bluffs and some of the most serious swells in Southern California. (Beginners, you've been warned.) Surf aside, Black's is also a nude beach where some people do still sunbathe in their birthday suits. The most common access point—from the Torrey Pines Gliderport where you can park for free in their dirt lot—is also the most precarious. It involves trekking down a steep trail of concrete, sand, and steps. If the tide is low, you can walk over from La Jolla Shores (three miles south) or Torrey Pines State Beach (two miles north) instead. If you pray for surf, you'll be rewarded with epic swells, particularly in the winter. Otherwise, we suggest laying out on the sand and enjoying the dramatic landscape. With bluffs this tall, it feels like it's just you, the ocean, the other beachgoers, and the occasional paraglider.

Nude beach 🏖 it’s a bit of a hike down and back up. Tennis shoes are recommended.

- The address will take you to a dirt/gravel parking lot. Park here and walk towards the water to find a path that winds down the cliff and to the water. - There is also a trail that continues on the ridge with incredible views of the ocean and beach below. Towards the end of the this trail you'll see some amazing homes on the cliffs. Fun fact: the largest one that is mostly glass is called The Razor house and is Alicia Keys' house. WARNING: The beach below is technically a nude beach! It also happens to be one of the most beautiful beaches in San Diego, so if that doesn't bother you it's worth the walk down to the beach

Black’s Beach sits along a beautiful part of the rocky La Jolla coastline. Being below the Torrey Pines Gliderport and just north of La Jolla Shores, it’s a beloved surf spot and remains know as a clothing optional beach in San Diego.

Black's Beach is a 2-mile long, sandy strip situated at the base of majestic 300 foot cliffs. The glider port atop the cliffs overlooks the beach where hang gliders and paragliders can often be seen soaring. It's not easy to get to, but worth the journey and effort.
