Jay is the owner, entertainer, operator and many times is there by himself; his pizza is our favorite, you can get it deep dish, but we love the thin crispy crust house special. The tallest mountain east of the Mississippi with stunning views from the top. You can drive all the way to the top, with a short walk to the pinnacle or stop part way and hike up. It's best to go on a clear day, you can see for miles in every direction. Nearby is Roaring Fork Creek Falls; Roaring Fork Creek Falls in the Pisgah National Forest is a long cascade of about 100 feet (about 50 feet high) in a very beautiful setting. Located just two miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway via NC Highway 80, it's at the base of Mt. Mitchell and next to the Mount Mitchell Golf Club Resort. The half mile hike to the waterfall is easy up a mostly flat, forest service road. So it's quick and easy to enjoy!

Be sure and stop at Linville River Merchantile and get the peanut butter pie or cobblers they always make fresh everyday. About a 15 min. drive from the house; 3 miles hike one way, 3 miles back... a hike to an old logging town that was abandoned after the town flooded, the rail road used to run through it, but stopped after the flood. One of the most beautiful river view hikes around, be sure and stop by Laurel's River store for a Coffee or Espresso. It is not a steep hike, but there are lots of rocks and stones to walk over, so be sure and wear hiking boots. This is also a great fishing spot: This section of the Laurel River is located within National Forest Service boundaries and carries the designation for general regulations which mean the spin caster, bait fisherman, and the fly fisherman can all enjoy

Big Pine Creek is a small stream which is about 8 to 10 feet wide and the fishing stretches from the French Broad River on Big Pine Road to the State Road 1151 bridge. It is stocked with trout from March to June. After that, often the weather is too hot and the water too low to support the fish so it may not be stocked.
