Taking into consideration that:a. This area is one of the few wetlands still existing in the island of Kerkyra; b. The sand dune and salt marsh vegetation types are well developed and conserved; c. Tourism and related activities have taken over almost the majority of the sandy beaches on the island. It is evident that this area should be protected and managed in an alternative way according to the principles of sustainable development (ecotourism, traditional agriculture and stock raising, etc.). Lastly, it should be stressed that such areas seem to be significant as "refuges" not only for birds and other animal species, but also plant species (e.g. Orchidaceae).

Το δάσος του Αρκουδήλα, βρίσκεται στο νοτιότατο άκρο της Κέρκυρας στην περιοχή του Ασπρόκαβου και η πρόσβαση σε αυτό είναι πολύ εύκολη αφού σε αρκετά καλή κατάσταση αγροτικός δρόμος οδηγεί έως το μοναστήρι και συνεχίζει φτάνοντας σε μια μικρή πανέμορφη ερημική παραλία. Η απόσταση από το τελευταίο ασφαλτοστρωμένο σημείο του δρόμου είναι περίπου 1.800 μέτρα και η πεζοπορία επιβάλλεται. Το δάσος αποτελείται από κυπαρίσσια, αγριελιές, μυρτιές, δάφνες, κουμαριές και σκίνα.
Ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον έχουν, η αρχιτεκτονική των κτιρίων, οι πολεμίστρες, οι μεγάλες πέτρινες σκάλες, οι αποθήκες, το καμπαναριό, τα κελιά, το βαθύ πηγάδι και η εκκλησία

Το δάσος του Αρκουδήλα, βρίσκεται στο νοτιότατο άκρο της Κέρκυρας στην περιοχή του Ασπρόκαβου και η πρόσβαση σε αυτό είναι πολύ εύκολη αφού σε αρκετά καλή κατάσταση αγροτικός δρόμος οδηγεί έως το μοναστήρι και συνεχίζει φτάνοντας σε μια μικρή πανέμορφη ερημική παραλία. Η απόσταση από το τελευταίο ασφαλτοστρωμένο σημείο του δρόμου είναι περίπου 1.800 μέτρα και η πεζοπορία επιβάλλεται. Το δάσος αποτελείται από κυπαρίσσια, αγριελιές, μυρτιές, δάφνες, κουμαριές και σκίνα.

This area lying on the SW coast of the island of Kerkyra (Corfu), is of great importance not only as a wetland but also because of the biological and aesthetic value of the sandy beaches close to the lagoon. At the southern sandy beach, the presence on the island of the unique Juniperus stands and the petrified sand-dunes create an area of great aesthetic value. The site consists of: the Korission Lake (the largest lake in Kerkyra), and the surrounding lake and seashores which are charcterized by varied and important Mediterranean vegetation types.

The stunning appearance of this stately palace takes the visitor back in history to when the palace was inhabited by two great figures from European history whose only common bond was their adoration for Corfu, Greece and its culture, Empress Elisabeth of Austria (known as 'Sissi') and Kaiser William II of Germany.
Empress Elisabeth built the palace to escape the tragedies of her life, and William II purchased it after her untimely death. William II, however, never had a chance to enjoy the palace’s beauty because of a war that broke out, from his own doing.

Το σπήλαιο "Γράβα Γαρδικίου" βρίσκεται στην κοινότητα Αγίου Ματθαίου, σε απόσταση 22km στα νοτιοδυτικά της Κέρκυρας. Συγκεκριμένα βρίσκεται στους νότιους πρόποδες του όρους Αγ. Ματθαίος. Για να προσεγγίσει κάποιος τον χώρο ακολουθεί επί 2km τον δρόμο που συνδέει το χωριό Αγ. Ματθαίος με τον οικισμό Βραγανιώτικα και παρακάμπτει δεξιά σε χωματόδρομο. Ακολουθώντας μια πορεία περίπου 500m μέσα από τον ελαιώνα οδηγείται έξω από το σπήλαιο. Ο χώρος βρίσκεται πολύ κοντά στο βυζαντινό Φρούριο Γαρδικίου.
Η Γράβα αποτελούσε ορμητήριο κυνηγών και τροφοσυλλεκτών, πολύ κοντά στην μεγάλη πηγή του Γαρδικίου. Πρόκειται για βραχοσκεπή της οποίας η οροφή έχει υποστεί σταδιακή διάβρωση και ογκώδεις κατακρημν
