Food Scene

It's walking distance and the steaks are insanely good, as with the appetizers and sides! Also has an incredible "chop shop" on the first floor where I love to walk over and grab charcuterie and cheeses to bring back home for wine nights! They also make sandwiches that will change your life. Truffle chicken salad on an onion roll (add bacon) is a personal fave.

Parks & Nature

Beautiful park overlooking the heart of downtown (from my favorite angle), you can also tour the historic cisterns right here if you make a reservation (often have light & music shows inside). Plenty of walking and biking trails all around here. We also have bikes you can borrow (including a tandem for 2!) If you're in the mood for brunch, the Dunlavy is located at Dunlavy and Allen Parkway in the park and is delicious!

Between the Bayou park and the Heights Hike & Bike trail (that conveniently runs just 6 blocks North of the house), the outdoor activity options in this neighborhood can't be beat! The hike & bike will take you all the way east of downtown, and all the way to the northwest corner of the heights, with countless restaurants and bars and coffee shops along the way.

Arts & Culture

The majority of the warehouses in our neighborhood have been converted into artist studios, making the first ward the Arts District. They are often open to the public, and you can see a wide variety of artistic expressions and media from a collaborative graffiti wall, to glass blowing, to oils on canvas, to statues, and more.
