Sightseeing

At the caves, you will be transported back in time. The Taino Indians held tribal meetings in this area and made numerous carvings in the walls of these natural limestone caves. The petroglyphs are said to have been made during ceremonial activities. These petroglyphs pre-date Columbus’ arrival to Puerto Rico in 1493, and were probably made many centuries earlier.

Learn about one of the pride and joys of the Puerto Rican export business: its coffee. There is a display of the different machines used to dry, toast, and grind the beans. A collection of Santos de Palo (carved wooden saints which are traditional) decorates many of the corners of the small building. There are plenty of beans in small bowls to be tasted and enjoyed. You can also sample a bit of espresso of the brand before you buy it.
