Arts & Culture

Recently listed as "one of the top 10 coolest museums in the world" by the New York Times, the Horniman Museum and Gardens is a fascinating and family-friendly attraction. As described on their website, they have been "open since Victorian times, when Frederick John Horniman first opened his house and extraordinary collection of objects to visitors. Since then, [their] collection has grown tenfold and includes internationally important collections of anthropology and musical instruments, as well as an acclaimed aquarium, a Butterfly House and natural history collection." (horniman.ac.uk) There is also a lovely cafe and a gift shop, as well as an amazing view of the City of London.

Shopping

Entailing everything vintage, this shop is well worth a visit if you appreciate retro style and a bit of social history. From dresses to old photos and gardening tools, you really want to look through everything! The shop keeper is lovely and super helpful, and several of our guest room's interior pieces came from her selection! I'd love to make this no1 listing in my guidebook, but haven't figured out how. :) Open Thu-Sat 10am-3pm (Sat 4pm)
