Fiesole is the best way to get out of the city and see Florence, it is old, quaint, natural, and has all the qualities of a picturesque tuscan town. The bus ride is a short 20 minutes out of the city and up a windy road. Once you are there, you can explore the neighborhoods on foot, see the painted shutters on houses, the flowers on the balconies, the views of the ruins down the hill, the cypress trees. The Archaeological area of Fiesole includes Etruscan and Roman remains. The Etruscan Temple, The City Walls, The Etruscan Tombs. The Etruscan settlement in Fiesole was conquered by the Romans in 90BC. Nowadays you can find both Roman Baths and a very well preserved Roman Theatre.
