Mistra Battery (Maltese: Batterija tal-Mistra), formerly also known as Despirasse Battery (Maltese: Batterija ta' Despirasse),[1] is an artillery battery in Mistra Bay, Mellieħa, Malta. It was built by the Order of Saint John in the 18th century as one of a series of coastal fortifications around the coasts of the Maltese Islands. The battery is considered as the best preserved of the Order's batteries in Malta, since it retains all of its original features. Many other batteries have been destroyed or otherwise modified, and very few have survived in their original state.[2] More info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mistra_Battery

Arts & Culture

History of St Paul’s Bay Parish Church St. Pauls bay has always been popular with the Maltese in summer and the increased number of residents required a new church as the present century St. Paul’s Sanctuary was not big enough. The Countess Anna Bugeja built a new church dedicated to the Sorrows of Our Lady and gave it to the Franciscan Conventuals. During 1905 the church became a parish and enlarged as it became too small for growing St. Paul’s Bay between 1960 - 1979. Parish priest: Rev Joseph Cilia O.F.M.Conv. Holy Masses at St. Paul's Bay Parish Church Sundays and Feast Days: 06:00, 07:15, 08:30, 09:45, 11:00 (English) Saturday Evenings: 18:30 in Winter, 18:00, 19:30 in Summer Weekdays: 06:00, 06:45, 08:00, 18:30 in Winter 06:00, 06:45, 07:45, 08:30, 18:30 in Summer.
