10 minutes away in a car. The Ramsholt Arms is a popular riverside pub and dining room, situated on the banks of the river Deben. The pub was reopened in June 2013 by the same family behind the Michelin recommended Ufford Crown just fifteen minutes down the road. Being the only south facing pub on the river, the Ramsholt Arms enjoys beautiful sunsets and is popular in the summer with holidaymakers, families and sailors who make the most of the sun soaked terrace, neighbouring beach and crab fishing jetty.

There's always a queue at this renowned Aldeburgh chippy, and no wonder: the fish is fresh and fried in the lightest of batter while the chips are crisp and hot and to die for, fried in beef dripping just as they should be; indeed no less than the Guardian and Times have referred to this place as just maybe 'the best fish and chip shop in the world'

This is a lovely pub right next to the water and we think the food is great. We went there on my Birthday. It is about 1/2 hour away but well worth it. Plenty of seats inside and out. May be best to phone and book a table.

Aldeburgh is world-renowned thanks to its connection with Benjamin Britten, the founder of the Aldeburgh Festival, which takes place in June every year. Pastel-coloured 19th Century holiday villas line the promenade and to the east, the pebble beach with fisherman’s huts selling the daily catch.
