Teeling Distillery is an Irish whiskey distillery Located in the heart of the historic Liberties. It's the only operational distillery in the city and well worth a visit. A Bonus: Teeling is only a 15-20 min walk from the house.

One of my favourite places to take friends shopping when they come to town. George's Street Arcade is a gorgeous Victorian-style building in the heart of town (Just a short bus ride from just around the corner from the house). Inside you'll find fun local craft booths, photography stalls, and other random souvenirs. You can even have your palm read if you wish.

If you're looking for a fairy tale place to snap some photos and soak up some history -- this is it! My favorite castle in the area. Drimnagh Castle is a gorgeous Norman castle located in Drimnagh, a suburb of Dublin (a short bus ride from the house). It is the only remaining castle in Ireland with a flooded moat around it. Tours can be booked by contacting the office on 01 - 4502530 from 9:30 - 4pm (Monday - Thursday) and from 9:30 - 1pm (Friday)

A gem of Dublin and on the "must see" list. It's just a short 20 min walk from the house (through the historic Liberties district / just past Teeling Distillery). You'll need to book tickets in advance as they tend to book up quickly during the summer. The view from the gravity bar is one of the best in the city.

My favourite bar in 'Temple Bar'. The music here is unreal. Several different rooms across three floors. There's also a restaurant if you'd like a bite to eat. (An easy bus ride from the house).

Live trad music every night of the week. Not in a touristy part of town so you'll be mixing and mingling with the locals. Super place to kickback, grab a pint, and soak up The Craic.

Fishing village just 30 minutes (by DART / train) from Dublin. Beautiful scenery and amazing food. There's a cliff walk (can do a little bit and turn back to Howth -- or the entire walk which ends in Sutton). Or if you don't feel like a long hike you can just climb Howth Head for a spectacular view of Dublin Bay and the surrounding islands. Make sure to stop in the harbour to see Sammy the Seal. Then stop off at King Sitric for delicious seafood chowder and oysters.

Worth a visit. I usually recommend that people just stop by the bar to try out the tasty cocktails. But the tour is lovely and informative as well.

Food scene

My absolute favorite restaurant in town. I take all my out of town friends here when they come for a visit. Not only is the building unbelievably beautiful and historic, but the food is also amazing. Fresh Irish seafood and meats, traditional food, mouth-watering burgers, delicious cocktails -- I love every single thing on their menu. The staff is also super friendly. Def make sure to stop by for lunch or dinner.

The closest cafe to the house happens to also be my favourite. The food here is delicious, the staff is super friendly. Make sure to leave room for desert because the pastries and cakes here are the best in the city IMO. The best part -- Noshington is just a short 12 minute walk from the house.

Touted as the oldest pub in Ireland -- this place is well worth a visit. Onee a meeting place for historic rebels, this brass-filled, lantern-lit pub hosts live music each night. Serving up traditional Irish food and cold pints. You can't go wrong. Plus -- It's a short bus ride away from the house and just a short walk from the Guiness Store House and on the way to Ha' Penny Bridge
