Run by chef Vítor Rocha, TABERNA CRIATIVA offers excellent cuisine and service. They cater for vegetarians and for people with specific food allergies. In my view it's the best local restaurant near us and we are lucky that it is so close to our house. I recommend to reserve a table.

Authentic Portuguese cuisine of very good standing - with local speciality goat; nice atmosphere and good service by english-speaking waiters - and rather undiscovered by foreigners as its 10 min drive from Sintra - but this is where the Portuguese families go for the Big Sunday Lunch

Located on one of the most beautiful beaches in the region, at the very end of the promenade, is this little gem of a restaurant. Relax with a glass of wine and tapas on the terrace, watching the waves, or indulge in other tasty dishes.

Parks & Nature

Its history dates back to 1093 when a chapel dedicated to Virgin Mary was built here, but the current palace was finalised around 1863 as summer residence of the Cook family, english merchants based in Lisbon, and its neo-gothic and islamic architecture fulfils even today the "dream of 1001 nights". The park has many great spots to explore with kids.

While the locals love this beautiful spot, it is less discovered by tourists. At low tide I recommend a walk along the cliffs; lots of water pools allow you to discover the costal sealife.

This museum, located in an old convent, is really worth a visit - as it displays the history of the use of tiles in building/architecture in Portugal. Also a very nice shop where I often find great ceramic presents for my friends. The restaurant is nice, too - outdoor seating in the courtyard.
