Walks/Active days out

There's so much to do in and around the Fowey estuary from the famous circular Hall walk which dates back to the 18th century to messing about in small motor boats to kayaking or simply watching the world go by from the various restaurants, cafes and pubs which are dotted along this beautiful estuary.

This is one of Cornwall's secret gems. It's not for the fainthearted or those with mobility issues as it a 1/4 mile walk down a moderately steep path but is well worth the effort to get there!

We've visited many times. The gardens have a fascinating history and make for an inspiring and restorative day out. Excellent cafe/restaurant too and children's playground. It's worth checking to see if they are staging any outdoor theatre in the summer months.

Local places to visit

Lerryn is one of the most picturesque waterside villages in South Cornwall, set inland on the Fowey estuary and about a 15 min drive from us. There is an excellent circular walk from there via St Winnow and back through Ethy woods. There is also a handy little grocery shop, pub and grassy area where we like to sit and eat take away fish and chips from The Country Fryer in Lostwithiel (check opening times!)
