This is a recently opened restaurant in Suðurnesjabær, the next town over from Reykjanesbær. The food there is Spanish and very good. The lighthouse next to the restaurant is also very pretty.

Skoðunarferðir

Walking by the ocean is lovely in good weather. This relatively small town has a total of five ports for boats to bring fish. Most of them are in little to no use today but fishing was the primary industry in Reykjanesbær for centuries. It is a trip back in time walking along the coast side and reading the history signs along the cost.

The shortest route between Europe and America is in Reykjanes, where you can cross a bridge between the continents in just a few minutes. The bridge symbolically shows where the two continental borders meet on the land of Reykjanes, but they are North American and Eurasian plates, this gaps grows by just a few centimeters each year. Nowhere in the world can these continental plates be visibly seen on land, which is why Reykjanes has been certified by UNESCO as an international Geopark. This split land can be seen in many parts of Reykjanes, but it is also the reason why there are five volcanic systems on the peninsula and it is therefore an active volcanic area – as everyone saw when the eruption began in Geldingardalur in 2021.

"The cave of the Giantess" The giantess is everyone’s friend and ready to use his size and energy to help in the problems of the little ones, his friends. Her home is small and therefore she welcomes snoods that children no longer use but she uses them to decorate their homes. Her cave can be found by the marina in Gróf, where she sits for a long time by the kitchen window in her rocking chair and looks out over Keflavík and Faxaflói.
