Our very own local stage theatre. Very cosy and inviting community and find local actors rehearsing here before they become big and mainstream.

The NGV and the surrounding institutes are collectively Melbourne's Art's Precinct. There is always something marvellous happening here. A quick tram ride right from your doorsteps and right next to the Yarra river, Southbank restaurants and Flinders station.

Eateries

While Lygon steer offers several options to indulge on Italian Gelato, this one is my personal favourite. Don’t be overwhelmed with the long queues, the move fairly quick and staff is always very personable and friendly.

Sightseeing

I love grabbing a late morning cuppa from Tanaka cafe at Rathdowne street and walk around Carlton Gardens and the Royal Exhibition building. Lovely orchards, blossoming trees, fountains, plenty of unfettered ducks, skateboarders and dancers at the Melbourne Museum entrance, singing and screaming children at the play equipments, a basketball court, tennis courts , bunch of picnickers, bikes on grass, life!

A walk through the Rathdowne Village with its Parisian cafes and street vibes before turning to Fitzroy and chillaxing at this garden, interacting with locals and seeing the general feel of her bohemian patrons. Plus, the vegan cafes around hold a distinct panache. Experience Fitzroy at her peak her.

There is a special pull to this place of rest, Italian graves with evergreen stories of families and messages of departing and love for us all. I haven't seen a graveyard like this one, where people inscribe pictures and also occasionally write odes to the departed. There is also a night tour with a bit haunted theme but I haven't taken it yet.

Take a bike ride to this hiking park around the Yarra river bend and cafe or have a quick 10 minute drive. Can be a full day trip. Start with coffee and snacks here, then do a a 5km hike around the 'Yarra bend', walk across the street to the Abbotsford convent for yummy lunch, wine and/or bakery and return back here for a boat ride or bask under a sunny sun, play golf or watch local cricket.
