This is a must do. Ideally you want to drive to Duddingston Loch and take the short 30 minute (conservative) steep walk to the summit. Views over Edinburgh, the Forth and Fife are spectacular

This requires a ferry from S Queensferry. A truly wonderful trip. Beware of marauding, protective mother herring gulls.

Edinburgh weather is usually pretty good. But if you're stuck with poor weather, this makes for an interesting day out. The new annex is particularly good.

Entertainment & Activities

The UK's largest dry ski slope. Not in the class of proper alpine skiing, but a pretty steep slope and well worth a visit. Make sure to wear suitable clothing.

Parks & Nature

Really convenient, given that the Braid Burn runs directly under the apartment. Nice walk upstream to the Royal Observatory. Its interesting to see how Edinburgh preserves its sense of the great outdoors, whilst still being a capital city.

Surprisingly tranquil walkway which cuts through the west end of Edinburgh down past Stockbridge all the way to Leith if you're minded. Dean Village is a hidden gem.
