Food scene

A true farm-to-table treat. Matt and Marie (owners) are dedicated to supporting farmers like us (Squashington) by sourcing most of their ingredients from nearby vendors! Enjoy soups, salads, brats, flatbreads, desserts, and so much more. Plus, if you like hard cider, they offer around a dozen different ciders they brew themselves on tap! We recommend getting a flight. During the winter months, you can book your own private ice shanty where you can dine with those in your bubble too!

Our favorite local coffeehouse. Their baristas are always dependable, they make AMAZING baked goods in house. Sweet and savory. Plus, they make chocolate! A great stop for breakfast, lunch or a snack.

Looking for a fancy dinner without having to drive to Madison? Bistro has you covered. Chef Mark does a wonderful job in the kitchen and the front of house ambiance is lush and decadent without being pretentious. Order yourself a fancy cocktail before you get your appetizers (artichoke dip and the dates are our favorites), the mushroom bisque is always good, and we would always recommend ordering from their nightly specials list.

This is our local grocery store. Even though it's in a small town, they pretty much have it all! And even some locally-produced items like honey, jams, produce, cheese, and more. We love Millers.

Need an iceacream cone? This is where you should go. They sell Cholocate Shoppe Icecream (Madison). It's a summer staple, but delicious any time of year.

It is so beautiful. This park has it all: prairie views, pine forests, hardwood canopy, hills, streams, ponds, freshwater springs. It's so close and a true community gem. You can even ride horses here!

A local favorite spot for cooling off on a hot day or ice fishing during the winter. It offers a "beach" access with picinic area/playset/swings as well as rock jumps for those more adventurous. It can get pretty algae-y in the summer, but we still love jumping in on a hot day.

A state park right in our backyard (practically)! If you crave good views, you should hike up to the peak (and up the fire towers when they are open) to get 360-degree panoramas! See as far north as the Baraboo hills. Miles and miles of trails lead you through woods, hills, streambeds and more. There is a park area with charcoal grills, a playset, and bathrooms and in the summer even a public pool!
