Hiking
Bad Branch is simply spectacular. The street is a National Wild River, and the preserve has on of the highest concentrations if rare and endangered species in Kentucky.
You see a 60-foot waterfall, laurel thickets, and if you travel to High Rock, you'll get a fantastic view of Whitesburg and the central part of the county.
Leave early for the High Rock. It is a 7-hour round trip hike.

Officially US 119 S, this National Scenic Byway boasts some of the best mountain views in Kentucky. There are roadside overlooks and picnic areas at several locations that make perfect spots for vacation photos. Little Shepherd Trail, a 14-mile, one-lane paved road through the wilderness,, is located at the summit and leads to Kingdom Come State Park. It's not unusual to see deer, bear, and migratory birds along the road.
