Piazza Santo Spirito is full of students and locals in the evening. There are a couple of bars with tables outside. At Volume bar they have nice live music on weekends.
There are also some good restaurants in the area. I personally like Santo Bevitore and Neromo for dinner.
At Osteria Santo Spirito they have amazing gnocchi gratinati (with lots of cheese but simply delicious)!

On the first floor of Mercato Centrale there is a big space with lots of different kinds of food: from pizza and pasta to fresh mozzarella and traditional Tuscan lampredotto (cow's stomach). You can find something for every taste. You can also go there just to have a drink with friends or a cup of coffee with a dessert. Another good thing is that it's open all day long, not such an easy thing to find in Italy as far as restaurants are concerned:)

My absolutely favourite gelato in Florence! Try Marmo di Carraia if you like something "heavy":)
Consider that during high season in Florence it's likely that you are going to wait in line for around 15 minutes

The place I love for a quick lunch break is Ballerini in Borgo Ognissanti. They have artisan chocolate, but they also make delicious pizza and first courses for lunch which you can eat there or take away. I personally have lunch here quite often when I'm in the area. The prices are also very reasonable

It's a little kiosk that have pizza calzone and deep fried Neapoletan finger food (like arancini). It's very fatty, consider it's a kind of Neapoletan fast food... But it's quite good and it's 5 minutes away from the apartment.

An amazing gem! Alessandro Dari is a very talented and famous jewelry maker. His creations are unique and beautiful, and the atmosphere in his shop is breathtaking. His shop is also his studio where he works, so sometimes you'll be able to meet him personally. You'll usually hear some opera or Renaissance music in the shop which really suits his creations. I highly recommend visiting it!
