It's a 1.5 hr drive from Wailea, where you'll have a chance to hike the crater of Maui's highest dormant volcano. The view from the peak is spectacular and if you're driving up to view the sunrise, make sure to put in a reservation for your party ahead of time.

Requires advanced snorkeling (the water can get rough), but has the most variety of fish we've seen on Maui.

Very beginner and kid friendly beach. Waves are calm in the mornings, and there are some shaded areas to the right. You can also walk over to Mokapu beach which also has great snorkeling.

Sunset walks

Great afternoon and sunset walk. It starts from Ulua beach park and is a ~3miles to Fairmont resort. You might spot some cute cats along the way :)

Hiking trails

Located down in Makena, it's a very unique trail with great views of La Perouse Bay where you’ll hike among hardened Lava rocks, herds of goats 🐐 and Monarchs 🦋. At the end of the trail, you'll find a white coral beach that kind of reminded us of Pirates of the Carribean. Make sure to bring a hat and hiking shoes as the trail has no shade and can be very rocky.

Went there several times, and it's located at the end of the Road to Hana. We love the diversity of the hike: Waterfalls, Bamboo forests.

Black sand beach. Entrance is a bit hard to find and bumpy road towards the beach. But the views are great and not too busy usually.
