Three Forks is far more than a brewery. It's more of a refined gastro-gub for lunch and dinner, and an amazing bakery and espresso bar for breakfast. They source organic, local ingredients, serving up wood-fired oven pizzas with a sourdough crust so good that you want to eat it all. Their bread rivals that of Tartine in San Francisco, and you can take home whole loaves. Excellent desserts and pastries as well. And of course, their micro-brewed beer is fantastic.

Parks & Nature

Nestled amongst the pine-studded chaparral forest of the Sierra Nevada Foothills, Malakoff Diggins is home to California’s largest hydraulic gold mine. The 3,000-acre park encompasses the town of North Bloomfield and the historic Diggins site, which allows visitors to step back in time and experience the boom and bust of the California Gold Rush. Visitors can see huge cliffs, resembling a small version of Bryce Canyon National Park, carved by mighty jets of water, results of the gold-mining technique of washing away entire mountains to find gold.

The Yuba River is a renowned attraction, especially in the summer months. Full of great swimming holes, little beaches, beautiful boulders, and rapids, there is truly something magical about the Yuba. My favorite spot is Hoyt's Crossing. To get there park at the highway 49 crossing and walk upriver on the north side for a little more than a mile. For those not wanting the hike in, Purdon's crossing is also fantastic (and only 5-10 minutes away from Eudaimonia). Edward's Crossing is also lovely, with a greener and thickly wooded atmosphere, but it is a longer drive. Bridgeport and the 49 crossing are also nice with super-easy access, but more crowded and touristy.
