The seafront!

The walk along the seafront is always popular with locals and visitors. You can watch the hovercraft coming and going, see the Solent Forts, look across to the Isle of Wight and spot the ferries - there is a Fast Catamaran as well as Car Ferries to Fishbourne/ Ryde and the Continent.

Did you know?

Portsmouth was the birthplace of Charles Dickens and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who created the Sherlock Holmes stories, lived in the City. Other literary greats who have called Portsmouth home include Rudyard Kipling and H G Wells. Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the noted engineer was also born here, as was the comedian Peter Sellers. Arnold Schwarzenegger briefly lived and trained in Southsea. In Sport, England footballer Mason Mount was born in Portsmouth, single- handed yachtsman Sir Alec Rose had a shop around the corner in Osborne Road and I went to school with Olympic medallist, Roger Black.
