Visby is a fantastic and historic seaside town. The town itself was once a key port within the Hansa trading network and is surrounded by a largely intact medieval wall. Throughout the old town are many historical buildings and ruins, as well as a tremendous number of fantastic restaurants and sights to see.

Simply superb Chinese food. You will need to book tables well in advance but they do takeaway also! Don’t miss the ribs, räkbollar and tofu!

Walks
Just south of the harbour area is a large open reservation with good trails, barbecue spots and nice cliff views. It can get a bit windy by the cliffs so check the weather forecast. Nearby is Leva Kungslador - a nice cafe with a very pleasant green house to enjoy a drink of meal in.

Plenty to see walking around the medieval walls - Highlights are walking along the top of the wall at the Palisades at the very southern tip of the wall overlooking the harbour. Make your way through the botanical gardens before heading up the northern side of the wall and around the top with fantastic views over the city from behind the cathedral (domkyrkan).

Bike ride - South Side
Innerstad -> Palisaderna -> Klipparna -> Södra Hällarna
Nice views as you head out from town along the cliffs overlooking the harbour riding past the old windmills. Head along the street past Kokoloko hotel and across the roundabout to Södra Hällarna for a variety of bike trails - everything from regular dirt tracks to free flowing offroad mountain bike trails along the cliff and through the forest.

Bike ride - North
Östergravar, Galgberget / Kärlekstigen / Muramaris
Starting from the east city gate near the shopping area, head north across the rolling hills along the city walls and then ride along the top of the cliffs to Galgberget for a nice view of the sea. Carry on north keeping fairly close to the cliffs before coming down the hill towards the end of the kärlekstigen walk.
Carry on north riding through Snäck camping ground before following the trails at the top of the hill through to Muramaris, then back from the bottom of the mansion along forest above the coast and then along the coast.

Mountain Biking - Lummelunda-Lickershamn - 20km
A longer mountain bike trail leading from the Lummelunda caves along the coast line up to Lickershamn. Be ready for some spectacular views and fairly rugged forest trails (plan for a long ride!)

A nice variety of well marked country trails and mountain biking tracks of all lengths just outside of Slite.
