Now you'll find live music, delicious restaurants, cool shops and museums, and even art galleries. More than 50 films and television shows were filmed here in the 1940s and ‘50s.

Cool local spot in Yucca Valley with healthy & hearty food. I love a good bowl of soup & fresh salad, and was very impressed by Frontier Cafe. Nice drink menu with coffees, teas and juices, as well as different sandwiches and treats. Fair prices and friendly service. Right next to some cool shops and just a couple mins from the Lucid Lodge. Parking is easy and you can order for pick up.

This is why you really came right? Joshua Tree National Park offers some of the most grounding and beautiful hikes in the world. There are several entrances to the park, depending on which vortex is calling you. Just 14 mins to The Lucid Lodge so you can get a full day hike and exploring without a long car ride.

If you're looking to escape to the nearest watering hole... Big Bear Lake is a great option. Only 64 miles from The Lucid Lodge, BBL is a perfect day trip destination. Plenty to do including mountain biking, fishing, skiing and snow boarding, walking the town shops & restaurants, or just exploring nature.

You will want a car.
The desert can get very hot, and very cold. It is also vast, and getting around without a car can be challenging.
Customs and culture
Joshua Trees
Joshua Trees are now protected by law. Please don't touch them. pick at them or damage them. We don't want to end up living in a world like The Lorax! Enjoy them by taking pictures, sending them love and making sure trash goes in the proper place. This will definitely give you great Karma!
What to pack
Layer Up!
The weather out here in the desert can be unpredictable. The best way to stay comfortable is to dress in layers. Check the weather, but also know the cold feels a bit colder, and the hot feels a bit hotter out here. If you are going to hike around, make sure to bring protective clothing from the sun, and the cold.
Book before you go
Water!
The desert is a dry place. Make sure to drink plenty of water even if it is cold out. If your are hiking, make sure to bring enough water and snacks.
Traveling with kids
Look out for Jumping Cacti!
Kids will be kids, but we can always help them be safe. When hiking around, keep an eye out for pokey friends. We have these incredibly beautiful, yet sneaky cacti called "Jumping Cholla". If you get too close, the needles will literally jump out and burry themselves in your skin.. not fun. Wearing pants can help to avoid this.

Wildlife
Yes, you will most likely see some form of wildlife out here. We have snakes, lizards, scorpions, tons of birds species, coyotes and more. For the most part, if you leave them alone, they will leave you alone. This is their home, so please be respectful.
