Heading into downtown Newport? There are tons of restaurants and shops at your disposal down on the wharfs at Thames Street (~2.5 miles [4km] away). History buff or love architecture? Middletown is located in the 'middle' of Aquidneck Island, sandwiched between Portsmouth to the north, and Newport, to the south. Close enough to all the action of Newport (less than a 10 minute drive to Thames Street!), but far enough to have more seascapes than cityscapes.

Food scene

A Rhode Island staple since 1948; delicious frozen lemonade. There's often a Del's lemonade stand at the beach, but there is a dedicated Del's shop in Middletown. They're often cash only.

Rain or shine event celebrating music, food, and crafts. As there are beer gardens, etc., the event seems more tailored for adults. Notable people/groups that have played at the Folk Festival in the past include: Bob Dylan, Pixies, Mumford & Sons, Regina Spektor, Kacey Musgraves, Dolly Parton, and more.
