The Istanbul Marathon offers the only marathon course in the world that runs across two continents. Before the Covid season brought changes, the route ran on the Asian side of Istanbul. Right at the beginning the Bosphorus Bridge was crossed, then the route went via Beşiktaş and Dolmabahçe Palace to the district Beyoğlu and crossed Galata. Crossing Galata Bridge, one reached the district of Fatih, along the southwestern bank of the Golden Horn, which leads to the Eyüp Sultan Mosque. On the way back, one walked to the Ataturk Bridge on the Ataturk Bulvarı, crossed the Old Town, walked to the 'Veliefendi Hipodromu', followed the shore to the mouth of the Golden Horn, circled the Topkapı Palace and reached the destination at the Hippodrome at the foot of the Sultan Ahmed Mosque. There will probably be some minor changes to the running route in the course of time, but you should definitely take part in this sporting event. But I would like to point out that you should not expect a luxurious wellness temple at such daily and monthly prices. It is an old-school GYM for people who go to bodybuilding because of the sport and not to play janitor or gym inspector.
