If you are looking for an unforgettable experience, then you should pay special attention to dates of big soccer events. It is especially recommended to have a look at the soccer club 'Galatasaray'. Because on the day of the match, the whole of Galata - from Taxim Place to Galipdede Alley - is transformed into a festive parade street ... just jump in and enjoy the endless party that lasts until the next morning. The best entertainment you will find in Turkey is in the Beyoglu/Taksim area, as this is the entertainment center of Istanbul. There are many restaurants, bars, jazz clubs, etc., which usually peak around 2am and last until the morning. Finish your evening with a good breakfast in one of the countless bakeries.

The track’s proximity to Istanbul gives you a perfect chance to explore this fascinating city – while for the more suntan-focused Formula 1 fans, you’re just a short internal flight away from some of the country’s supreme beaches in the south of the country, or the Black Sea resorts in the east.

The Istanbul Marathon offers the only marathon course in the world that runs across two continents. Before the Covid season brought changes, the route ran on the Asian side of Istanbul. Right at the beginning the Bosphorus Bridge was crossed, then the route went via Beşiktaş and Dolmabahçe Palace to the district Beyoğlu and crossed Galata. Crossing Galata Bridge, one reached the district of Fatih, along the southwestern bank of the Golden Horn, which leads to the Eyüp Sultan Mosque. On the way back, one walked to the Ataturk Bridge on the Ataturk Bulvarı, crossed the Old Town, walked to the 'Veliefendi Hipodromu', followed the shore to the mouth of the Golden Horn, circled the Topkapı Palace and reached the destination at the Hippodrome at the foot of the Sultan Ahmed Mosque. There will probably be some minor changes to the running route in the course of time, but you should definitely take part in this sporting event. It does not matter if you are tall or short, in a wheelchair or a slow runner! At this point I quote from the site of the organizer: <<Feel inside the never-ending rhythm of the City! Unite the two continents with your steps. Lift your head up and don't miss the chance to see the blue tints from up above! Smell the scents of history through the streets, wave hands to the ships, listen out the seagulls and take notice of simit sellers. Istanbul is the most beautiful city in the world... It will bloom if you run. If you support... If you set your heart... If you claim, the most beautiful city will be yours! Istanbul is yours, just run and give it a hug! Dreams are big, so are the obstacles, Goals are compelling, so you are! This huge support is with you, Never lose your heart, never give it up! Istanbul is yours, just run and give it a hug! You'll see when you run, you will feel it right!>> The Website :) ... https://maraton.istanbul/

Exploring Istanbul by bike? For this I recommend a rental bike. The daily rent for bicycles of any kind (no matter if it's a bike with shopping basket, electric bike or racing bike) is between 50 and 80 Turkish Lira. This is absolutely recommendable for cycling fans! In addition, the Turkish Cycling Federation organizes a big racing bike tournament in Istanbul every year. Register (tourofturkey-org-tr) in time if cycling is in your veins! Sign up for the Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey: Unique intercontinental cycling tour of the world witnesses high level competition of world renowned athletes and teams in Turkey.

You want to do Bodibuilding? Flash Gym (500 m²) that has enough equipment to get your workout done for the day, including cardiovascular machines and free weights. Conveniently located on Istiklal Ave (near Galatasaray Square) on the 4th floor of a historic shopping mall building, Aznavur Passage. (İstiklal Cd. Aznavur Pasjı / Kat:4 / Galatasaray / BEYOĞLU) The day ticket costs about 30 TL. The monthly ticket costs 200 TL. But I would like to point out that you should not expect a luxurious wellness temple at such daily and monthly prices. It is an old-school GYM for people who go to bodybuilding because of the sport and not to play janitor or gym inspector. If you have the spirit of bodybuilding in you, you will focus on a good workout. Afterwards go to dinner and leave everything else to your muscles.

For a more athletic stroll, take a walk from the apartment, up Galipdede Alley, along Istiklal Avenue to "Taksim Meydanı" Taksim Square. The route is about 2 km long. You walk around the monument at Taksim Square and walk 2km back. If you want to take a longer route (about 6-8 km), you can walk towards Dolmabahçe Museum past the clock tower (visit one of the beach cafes!). Here you walk along the whole sea promenade to Karaköy and from there up to Galata Tower.

When the final of the UEFA Champions League is played, you should not miss it! In the year 2021: The Champions League Final will be played in Istanbul at the "Atatürk Olimpiyat Stadyumu". Start: 29 May 2021 / 16:00 - Category 4: 70 € - Category 3: 180 € - Category 2: 450 € - Category 1: 600 € - Places for handicapped persons 70 € + one accompanying ticket free of charge. Those who missed the game in 2021 should definitely keep an eye on future events, because Istanbul is a rare pearl where people of all origins, colors, sexes, etc. can fit in harmoniously with each other. Such a fabulous sports community is hard to find! Of course you don't necessarily have to experience soccer live in the stadium. There are also countless broadcasts in the form of screenings organized by pub operators. Especially in Beyoglu you can find a lot of pubs in the nightlife area that broadcast important matches. I would like to give you an insider tip now: Ask in a pub (where alcoholic drinks are sold) in 'Beyoglu' (in the Pera region) if they broadcast the game. Most of the time such pubs have a roof top area for events - there the locals watch the match. If you find a pub an hour before, you can choose the best seat. If you go to the screening a few minutes before the game starts, you will probably only get a standing seat. Therefore I advise you (from my own experience) to choose a comfortable pub in time :o))
