This restaurant is 30 minutes north of La Crosse. They are know for their walnut burgers and for using locally sourced ingredients. It is one of our favorite restaurants that we often enjoy after a visit to Perot State Park, which is just down the road. They also have a large outdoor area where they host summer concerts (none so far in 2020).

We have only been here on Mondays for their very tasty lunch of Roast Beef and mash potatoes. This is home cooked food at an amazing price. You’ll share the place with local farmers and other locals. Make sure to also indulge in their homemade desserts that line their counter. Bring cash. Also, make sure to stop in the New Albin Meat Market and purchase some smoked salmon or beef/pork jerky. It is right across the street- follow the smell of the smoker.

Located on Lake Onalaska, they have spread out tables throughout their property to accommodate for social distancing. Known for their Friday Night fish fry and a favorite of Barb and Bill, your neighbors to the South of Stone’s Throw Cottage. There is a caution on their Facebook page that if you don’t order ahead online that there could be a wait of over an hour for food. They do though offer an express drive-thru fish fry, and it is in a beautiful location, perfect to enjoy a couple drinks while waiting for food. About a 25 minute drive from Stone’s Throw Cottage
