If you can move past the LA snobbery, the coffee is great and the food options are uniquely LA fare.

New School has a decent cafe during the weekday; however, it is also a cooking school. If you find yourself with some extra time, you might consider taking a class.

Food scene

We go here almost every Friday. In fact, I went into labor with my fourth child just outside. We left our tacos on the counter and drove straight to the hospital.

I actually would not recommend this place--unless you are looking to impress your friends with your coolness factor. Also, the outside, upstairs patio has a great view.

This is one of our favorite spots for breakfast. It is never crowded, and the food is delicious. Plus, they tolerate my four boys. Sometimes, they even bring us cookies!

A cute little convenience-type snack shop with heartier options. Great place to meet friends.

Outdoors

A fun place to walk around and (when the season permits) pick your own produce. There is a short trail that leads up to the Culver City stairs. From the top of the trail, you can see a good bit of the city.

The Culver City Stairs is where fitness gurus and local families alike go to connect with nature in Culver City. The main event--the stairs--are built into what we here call a mountain, ascending roughly 700 ft. A one-mile hiking trail perfect for running crisscrosses the stairs. There is a visitor center at the top.

Getting around

Bike Path

The onramp to Culver City's primary bike path is at the end of our street. To get to the ocean (a 6-mile ride), turn left. To get to the platform and other attractions on the other side of the expo-line, turn right.
