Sightseeing

You drive to the top of Mt Erie and enjoy some of the spectacular views over the San Juan Islands, Whidbey Island, and the Cascade Mountain range. If you are comfortable walking on uneven surfaces then I recommend following the climber's trails down the south and west side, just down the hill from the main parking lot. The views of the San Juans are spectacular from here!

Walk the one mile trail out to Sare's Head for a gorgeous view of the Olympic Mountains and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. You won't likely see too many people out there. The trails around the forestland are also wonderful.

You should definitely take the time to drive the Washington Park Loop Road. There are nice places to pull off the road and take in the sights. On the west side is a nice picnic spot with grass and tables. This is the best place on Fidalgo Island to possibly see whales from land! The trails are also very nice, if you have the time.

Swimming

This is the local hotspot for swimming on hot summer days. Get there early as parking gets limited. The trails surrounding the lake are great too!
