Food Scene

Great local vibe, coffee, cake and a good place to spot the odd 'celeb'. Bonus points if you spot the resident lizard! It can get quite busy then the next moment be very quiet. Be careful with hours as they tend to close early, depending on the day of the week/year. Half the space is occupied by a deli with a good selection of cheeses, olives, spreads etc. Every now and then they have duck eggs! They have various take home meals available too. They are closed on Sundays. Next door is the Garden Basket (fruit and veg), a fresh fish shop and Chang's. The later is only open in the evening though.

Tip.... get there as early as you can as it can get a bit hectic. Best to park further away and walk as the car park can be very frustrating. Great place to grab a coffee, something to munch, fruit and vegetables, nuts, oils, cheeses, meat, fish and more... All locally sourced (no more than 50km away from MR). Try the wonderful goat cheeses from the lovely Swiss lady or the sheep cheeses from Cambray Cheese. And don’t miss the freshly baked Italian pastries from Claudio! They also frequently have music and the local TAFE does cheap sit down meals as training for the students. The latter requires a booking.

A bit away from stuff but nice bread. Limited range so it can be a bit hard to get stuff. They tend to sell out quick.

Great (expensive) experience that you won't soon forget. Try the $25/glass Heytesbury/Tom Cullity range with a meal. Well worth it. If you’re interested in art there is a proper art gallery downstairs.

Away from the main drag but a nice place to get some good quality curries that aren't too expensive to takeaway. They tend to get slammed so best to call first or pick something from the Bain Marie. There is an option to sit down in the restaurant but it's not the nicest spot.

They can grill fish (GF) for you for $1 extra. Chips aren't GF though. Spanish Mackerel is very nice, expect around $15-20pp.

Great place to see large (and friendly) sting rays. Head towards the portico on the beach or just follow the 'crowd'. The drive in along Cave's Road is spectacular. Be careful - the creatures are friendly but they’re not pets. Don’t try to catch them or mount them, it will end badly for you. Just watch and enjoy the experience.
