Must see places in Zante

I gathered a list of some well known, an some other lesser known gems you should visit while on Zante!
The beach is only reachable by sea, and boat trips set sail from nearby Porto Vromi Bay or the village of Volimes, taking about 20 minutes to reach Navagio. You can also take a boat trip from Agios Nikolaos bay, or the main port of Zakynthos, and visit the Blue Caves along the way as well. The Shipwreck viewpoint can be reached either from the south road from the town of Anafonitria, or from the north-east town of Volimes, from where it's less than 4km away (2.5 miles). There are signs on the road pointing to Navagio or alternatively to Agios Gergio Kremnao monastery, so you shouldn't get lost.

Dafni beach is a really beautifull, long and wide sandy beach, with a splendid view in the gulf of Laganas. Just across the beach, stands the small islet Pelouzo. This is another place where the turtles Caretta - Careta lay their eggs. The beach of Dafni belongs also in the National Marine Park therefore it is protected. The small Taverns that operate there, are open only during daytime so that the turtles are not disturbed. The access in the beach of Dafni becomes from the central street of Vasilikos and is considered quite difficult. You will have to drive 3 kilometres earth-road in order to access the beach. Despite this difficulty, the visitors are very attracted to this beach as its beauty is unique.

Situated near the village of Agios Leon, it is easily accessible by car. There is also ample space for parking. The bay here is stunning, although there is no sand, so it is not ideal for sunbathing, although there are many rocks which provide adequate seating and lounging space. The water here is exceptionally clean and is a beautiful blue, great for anyone who wants to dive into the refreshing water of the Ionian Sea - and also perfect for snorkeling.

To arrive at Korakonisi start from the Village of Kiliomenos and head North following the main road towards Agio Leonda. After approximately 1km you will see the sign for Korakonisi, turn left here and follow this road always heading in the general direction of the sea. When the road comes to an end, park and continue by foot. Access is by a narrow path of stone steps. As you descend the steps here you do need to be careful and to assist you there is rope for you to hold on to. While approaching you can't help but admire the wild natural beauty that surrounds you. Korakonisi is a unique monument to nature! The formation of the rocks create a huge arch that of which exceeds 20 meters, and the arch covers a small secluded bay. The water here is cool and crystal clear with a beautiful seabed. It is surrounded by both the sea and cliffs and is connected to the mainland by one small piece of rock. Climbing up onto the rock of the island you can admire the rocky wilderness. Those of you more adventurous can dive into the sea from the arch. If the idea of diving in from such a height scares you access is easier from the rocks. You should definitely use a mask here when diving into the sea, it is overwhelming, you see every sunbeam that penetrates the water and the seabed is very vibrant! Bring with you drinking water and any other essentials that you may need. Swimming here at Korakonisi is a little 'alternative', it is difficult to find shade and the rocks are not so comfortable to lay down on, it is however quite flat so you can sit and rest or wander around under the hot sun.

Makris Gialos Beach is located in the north of the island and is about 25km away from Zakynthos town. This beach is not considered as most suitable for families with small children as the water is deep, but it is ideal for those seeking tranquility and enjoy the summer sun.

Just 1.7 km from our home (a 30 minute stroll or a 6 minute drive), at the top of the hill is Bochali. Overlooking the port, neighbourhoods and streets below (as well as Argasi to the right) one can take in the wonderful views of the island, the sea and beyond. You can visit Bochali both in the morning and in the night and experience the different atmosphere.

The beaches in the area of Vassilikos include: Ionion, Gerakas, Porto Roma, Porto Zoro, Banana and Agios Nikolaos. The beaches are all sandy, with clean shallow waters and are ideal for families and couples. Agios Nikolaos beach is reputed to have the best scuba diving on the island, thanks in part to the crystal clear water as well as the variety of fish to see.
