Noble Tree Café is the result of two best friends who share a passion for all things good and delicious. In 2011, we embarked on a journey of discovery into the world of coffee. We became fascinated by the fact that coffee brings people together in every country, language, and culture – whether it's during planting, harvesting, trading, or consuming.

Parks & Nature

The dunes are rich in lime, allowing the growth of several plant species which are rare in the Netherlands. The inland dunes are covered with bacciferous shrubs attracting a variety of songbirds. About 800 different plant species that grow in the dune area of South Kennemerland are displayed in Thijsse's Hof (Garden of Thijsse), in Bloemendaal. This wildlife garden was founded in 1925 and is the oldest in the Netherlands. Fauna Over 100 bird species, as well as nearly 20 butterfly species, have been observed. The mammals fallow deer, roe deer, squirrel, West European hedgehog, European rabbit, red fox live in the park. Besides Highland cattle, Shetland pony, and Koniks, an experiment was started in spring 2007 by releasing a small number of wisents. These European bison could be dangerous to people and therefore were released in an area not publicly accessible. The wisents may be observed from a purpose-built viewing platform, a walking path (closed between 1 March and 1 September and during excursions). Together with Amsterdamse Waterleiding Duinen reserve this park could potentially be a suitable habitat for wolves (who can help tackle deer populations on a natural way) say multiple wolf experts including those of ark nature development, who work closely with the park and with the biggest wolf organization in the Netherlands: “wolven in Nederland”. The park also is interested in the possibility of a reintroduction of lynxes in the park to help the deer populations. The upcoming golden jackal also might find the park for the first time ever.
This is a short walk through the young dunes. You start at the De Kennemerduinen visitor center, entrance Koevlak on Zeeweg in Overveen. This is located on the inner edge of the dunes. Here, you'll mainly find oak and poplar forests. If you follow the green markers, you'll reach 't Wed. This is a recreational lake that was dug in the 1950s. Swimming is possible during the swimming season (May 1st to September 30th). The beach and the surrounding dunes are accessible and provide play opportunities for children. The landscape beyond 't Wed is characteristic of the young dunes: planted pine forests on the dune tops and grass and shrub vegetation in the dune valleys. This overgrowth and shrubbery is not always desired as it leads to a monotonous dune landscape. To counteract this, large grazers have been introduced. These can be Scottish Highland cattle or Konik horses. The result is visible: flowers, herbs, and mosses replace the partially consumed grass and shrub vegetation. This creates a more diverse dune landscape. Even though the animals roam freely, they won't attack you. To ensure your safety, it's best to keep a sufficient distance (25 m) from the animals and especially not to pet or feed them. Fencing has been placed around 't Wed to prevent the grazers from entering the recreational area. After the viewpoint of Konijnenberg, you walk through a stretch of open dunes. On the left, you can see the cross of the Cemetery of Honor. The Cemetery of Honor is only accessible from the main entrance on Zeeweg, not from this route. On the way back towards Koevlak, between Helmberg and Rietvlak, memorial stones have been placed on both sides of the road. Resistance fighters were shot and buried here by the Germans during World War II. After the war, these individuals were reburied at the Cemetery of Honor. After the memorial stones, you reach Waterleidingweg. This is a paved road. From this road, you can cross through the play area to 't Wed via a path on the right side. Alternatively, you can continue following the green markers to eventually return to the starting point of the walk.

Located to the south of Zuid-Kennemerland National Park, the Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen make up a nature reserve that also helps supply drinking water for Amsterdam. The nature of the dunes The hundreds of dunes of the Waterleidingduinen filter rainwater, the first step in the process of creating fresh drinking water for the city’s residents. It’s a great place for a walk, run or hike, but bicycles aren’t allowed in –helping to protect the dune landscape. Instead, a dedicated cycle path connects the park to the coastline. It’s not uncommon to see wild foxes romping through the underbrush and deer grazing in the dunes. And there’s naturally also plenty of plant life: the Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen are also home to the largest array of toadstools and mushrooms in the Netherlands.
