Food Scene

This is one of my favorite places in the neighborhood. It's a casual restaurant that's great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It has a very good atmosphere inside as well as outdoor seating. For breakfast, I always get eggs on a brioche roll with cheddar. I believe it's $5 :)

Great neighborhood coffee shop. They have great coffee and fresh, organic pastries baked on premises. It's a bright and airy place. They can be a little particular about where they allow laptops during the week, and they don't allow them on the weekends.

This place is a hidden gem in Manhattan, at the northern tip of the island. It has a coffee shop section with great coffee and fresh baked goods and a separate section for dining and a bar. All of their food is local, organic and made fresh. It's a bit more expensive, but definitely worth it! I would suggest the lobster mac and cheese.

This hole in the wall place (it's small!) has delicious food. Everything I've had there is amazing. The fried catfish tacos, moroccan chicken salad are great, but you must get the gourmet chicken chimi with yucca fries. It's a great take on a dominican street burger. The secret sauce with the yucca fries as my favorite :). They also have a great wine selection. This is also a great place to get coffee/espresso.

Drinks & Nightlife

Local bar with a rotating list of 15 beers (most are $7-8). They also have great food. I suggest the chicken tinders. The front will sometimes have a live DJ or band and the back patio has two large TVs for sports games. There's also an outdoor space to drink and smoke.

Arts & Culture

This place looks like a medieval castle that overlooks the neighborhood from Fort Tryon Park. They actually have a medieval festival there every October! The museum features mostly medieval artwork, and the building is really cool. It's a part of the MET, so if you go to the main MET later in the day you only have to pay/donate once.

Local grocery store with all the essentials. They don't have a whole lot of organic stuff, but it's slowly getting more. They have a full deli.

Parks & Nature

At the top you can get an amazing view of the George Washington Bridge as well as the neighborhood. The Heather Gardens are also there. There's a large playground area at the front of the park on Broadway.
