If you've got a car, pack a picnic and head to South Queensferry to take a boat trip to Inchcolm Island. Known as the Iona of the East, you can explore Incholm Abbey and some interesting wartime fortifications. Look out for wildlife on the way, including seals, puffins, guillemots and razorbills. If you're lucky, you might also spot porpoises, dolphins and Minke whales.
