Food Scene- WALKABLE

If you're reading this as our The Silver Lake Bungalow Next to the Lake! Airbnb guest, or potential guest, you realize the value of being OUT OF THE CAR FOR AN HOUR in your whirlwind visit of America's most exhausting vacation city. Los Angeles can be cruel on the driving temperament. Take a short saunter for some sustenance and saunter back lakeside, feeling smart. And well fed.
Premium cup of joe. My fav: Creme Brule latte. Walk down and sit at one of the outdoor tables to catch a slice of the neighborhood. You never know who'll you'll recognize...

Walk down for ice cream, kik ass specialty shakes, cookies and stuff, just like when you walked to ice cream as a kid. Maybe. Well if you didn't, now you can. And you can eat it in the park on a swing on your way back.

Authentic German snausages. I recommend the sampler plate. Sauerkraut, pickles, Leiderhosen... I hear there's a beer garden upstairs. How can you go wrong? By not looking when you're crossing the street to visit the popular Cha Cha Lounge. I'm telling you this because it's the only thing that'll get in your way of having an awesome night and the beautiful lakeside walk back here. :)

This glamorous night shot of 7-11 taken from across the street doesn't really depict the glory of the lifeblood* of the Silver Lake Res neighborhood. Whether we want to admit it or not. Say hi to Harry if he's working. Chat him up. He knows where all the winning lottery tickets are buried. *Grab some milk for cereal in the morning. Or for that PopTart on the shelf in the kitchen that's calllllling your name. ;)

24 hour. Clean, safe, jammed with stuff. Pharmacy always open. Decent sale prices on what you need. Good food selection if everything else is closed! Not overly bright and loud, not grubby. Night manager is very cool. Kodak picture machines work. Laid back employees. It's nice. No clue why there’s a pic of someone’s behind here. Ignore it. This is a nice CVS.

Well yeah, of course. Don't be embarrassed, it's awesome. Have a slice of Greco's pizza. Buy 25 t-shirts for $3. Park in the lot at Hollywood and Highland. And for Marilyn's sake, go put your hands in the cement prints of the World's brightest movie stars at the Chinese (whatever they call it now. you know the place) theater. Please, find your favorite star and TAKE THE PICTURE. The one with your face next to the star. Yes, on the ground (don't actually touch it - ew!) Take that picture and make it your Facebook profile photo. It is worthy.
