Food Scene

Lotus is a really fantastic modern Chinese restaurant, who use native Australian ingredients in their dishes, make delicious cocktails and do a wonderful weekend 'brunch' that is only $30 pp, and usually includes about 6 yum cha courses. They open at midday and it's very popular - a great weekend brunch/lunch option!

Iconic, famous, modern 'Australian' restaurant in the heart of Bondi. Bill Granger is a well known chef, who is famous for his brunch dishes, Australian cuisine blending Asian influences with fresh Australian ingredients. The restaurant in Bondi is fantastic - the yellow fish curry is our favourite dish. It is absolutely pack for brunch most days, so be prepared to wait if you go for that. You can book a table for dinner and it is usually calmer in the evenings there.

The original Bills restaurant in Sydney (see other Bills listing for Bondi). Same sort of things - but not such a beachy atmosphere, which we think suits the food.

This is our absolute favourite restaurant in Sydney. It is owned by two young couples and has the most lovely, local, atmosphere. The food is always delicious, the service friendly, the drinks great. We go here about once a week and love it. At the back of Redfern Continental is a hidden bar called GDR. It's a fantastic bar, with great cocktails and fun food. We often have a drink here before dinner in the front restaurant.

Pharmacy close to the apartment, open late most nights, has most things you'd need and helpful pharmacists on staff.

Closest liquor store to our apartment - it's not anything special, just the usual things. There is also a much more interesting and independent store a few blocks further away called 'The Oak Barrel' that is probably a better place for special/interesting selections.

Closest grocery store to the apartment, it's pretty hectic and busy, and not the biggest/best selection. But has two levels with most things you need. You can enter from the street or the station below. The bigger option is Coles at World Square (also in this guide).

Downstairs at World Square you will fine a big COLES Supermarket. Best grocery store near the apartment, bigger than the Woolworths Metro, better selection of fresh food, and also has a bottle shop next door.

Sightseeing

The Manly Ferry is a very popular tourist outing - but we also really recommend taking one of the smaller ferries - the Cremorne or Neutral Bay Ferries are great, they go into a few of the small harbour docks in North Sydney and are a really nice round-trip. It's always a lot more calm and peaceful than the Manly Ferry and you can take a seat on the back deck of the ferry and enjoy all the sights of the harbour without 100 selfie sticks around you ;)
