Suprising menu, but all is delicious ! Recently renovated with lovely terrace. Mostly younger audience, but we still feel welcome there, eventhough we're in our late 30s... Next door, there is a small scale cinema that has a great range of alternative movies...

If you don't feel like hitting town for dinner, this place is truly a hidden gem. Reasonably priced (since not in the centre of Bruges) but great local food and and interior that is old-fashioned yet once again quite hip...

Our all-time favourite for a small meal. The building is from the 1700s; the bar was reopened 40 years ago by a blues-fan, and now his children have taken over his work. The menu is limited but budget-friendly and delicious. They serve a great variety of good Belgian beers, with the needed advice. This is the one place we absolutely recommend if you are looking for something authentic... Website: http://www.gasthof-heidelberg.be/#home-section

Ancient convent, now occupied by some Benedictines, consisting of charming white houses with an amazingly beautiful garden in the middle and an old convent church. One of the must-sees if you are visiting Bruges... Best visited in the morning, before the crowds.

Beautiful village, 5 kilometres from Bruges. It has buildings in the same style, but it is much smaller than Bruges. It is lovely cycling there and back, by the canal, or taking the slow boat Lamme Goedzak.

The most famous chocolate shop in town... It's a matter of personal taste, but I am not the biggest fan of their very original flavours (e.g. bacon, tobacco, ...). Still, their less experimental stuff is yummie and the shop is absolutely worth a visit !
