Parks & Nature

I often walk to this hiking trail and then walk around -- the roundtrip from our house is about four miles. The park has expansive views of the ocean and Catalina Island. The walk takes you past some grand homes and the local peacocks are an added bonus.

Essentials

I hate American grocery stores, and appreciate Sprouts as a healthy alternative -- organic produce, grass-fed meats, bulk nuts and coffee, this is your spot (although I'll have you covered on coffee)

And if you must shop at an American grocery store, I think Ralphs is better than Vons.

Drinks & Nightlife

This spot just opened and is spectacular. They brew all their own beers and nextdoor there's a super fun craft place.

Not really a winery, but a wine bar. And a super cute one at that. Right in the heart of Pedro, you can wander around and check out the local art scene (especially the first Thursday of every month, when all the galleries open up and the food trucks roll in). They serve small plate food as well, and the prices are reasonable.

Shopping

This is a super fun series of crafts booths that sells everything from jewelry to stained glass to paintings to blown glass to trinkets. They usually have a spot set up for kids to engage in crafting as well. It's next to the brewery, so if someone thinks an hour in a craft store sounds like hell, the brewery is convenient.
