Walk the fortress walls

Little known is the inner of the two walks around the fortress walls. The outer is good for bikers and joggers but the inner loop is right on top of the walls and there are steel steps to help the climbs. From the street, just walk up the wall to edge and you should see the dirt path for a nice walk and scenic views of the moat that surrounds the Vesting.
The Naarden Vesting is a fortress town, to protect the city of Amsterdam from French and Spanish attacks in the Middle Ages. The town is surrounded by a double moat which you can tour by boat. Check availability on: http://www.vestingvaart.nl/?page_id=1174

Essentials

One of the smallest grocery stores in The Netherlands but it has all you will need for a great meal. On Saturday morning, there is an open market just around the corner on the Adriaan Dortsmanplein. Great for fresh produce, cheeses and flowers.
