Small village with a haunted ruined hall that was the inspiration for the scene of the fire in the end of Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre. Also 14th century river bridge and another single stone span bridge laid down in the 9th century using a neolithic standing stone. There's a free museum, toilets and a cafe too.

Near Grassington, Grass Wood is a beautiful place to walk, or picnic. The wood is large and stretches from the River Wharfe up to craggy tops and in one corner has the remains of a prehistoric settlement.
