Amazing Mexican with a really interesting and different menu compared to the normal cheesy mess at most Mexican restaurants. Doesn’t take bookings and gets very busy, but you can have a drink in the excellent Bon Vivant while you wait.

Out of our flat to the left and heading down Leith Walk towards the historic old port of the city you will find many local bars and restaurants, and the waterfront area itself is lovely to walk around. Leith is one of the most vibrant areas of nightlife in the city and is regularly cited as one of the worlds “most hipster neighbourhoods”.

Stockbridge in the new town is also a must see, with it’s many independent shops, bars and restaurants, it also has a market every Sunday from 9am onwards that we love to visit ourselves. If you want green space then you will also find the Royal Botanic Gardens on the edge of Stockbridge.

Great for a day trip from Edinburgh. Lovely beach, nice cafes, restaurants and shops. We particularly recommend Bostock Bakery and Steampunk Coffee. If you don't fancy driving, regular trains run from Waverley Station.
